athn64, is there anything fun to do in that areas that you can do with your little family without the IL's? Growing up our vacation was to visit my grandparents but we always went for 2-3 days somewhere else in that state without them so it was both family and vacation.
There is. It's just the opposite direction from where I wanted to go. I had already started mentally planning a trip out east to go caving and meet Daniel Tiger. And now we have to got west. DH said he's only planning on giving them a couple days anyways.
I have today off but am spending it waiting for the plumber that cancelled on us on Friday and is now over 3 hours late. And the dishwasher repairman came and said some part broke on our new dishwasher that never breaks. So he has to order the part and come back. Fun day off.

You need a new plumber. Stat.
Yes, but easier said than done to find someone reputable. This is a large company so we can trust the work when they actually show up.

True. Maybe ask people for recs? Angie's List? I mean, I don't handle lateness well regardless of whether they do amazing work, you're more patient and kind than I would be.
I've never had to hire a plumber, so I don't know that hell personally, though. My cousin owns a plumbing company and does all our work.

Sorry your day off was ruined.
Yeah, we're never using them again. He's here now and they're giving us a huge discount but I don't get the time back. I don't blame the actual plumber, it's how the company is run. Oh well...
Dd1 has hates her bunny slippers since I brought them home. I finally tricked her into wearing them, by telling her they would make her jump really high.
This reminds me of how I got J to eat broccoli. I told her it makes her super.
My moms yahoo account got hacked and is now sending random emails. She pays all of her bills out of this account online. Told her to reset her password immediately and she informs me she doesn't know her password, the computer just auto signs her in. Smack my head. She told me it will be fine and she'll figure it out and besides she pays her bills at work so she's using her work computer not her phone or laptop at home. She's so clueless it's painful and I hate that I have to be her IT person because I have no idea what I'm doing either. Oy!
DS locked me out of the house this morning when I took the garbage can down to the curb. Our neighbor came out to check on me because she heard me yelling at DS, I was yelling to him through the door to unlock it but she looked concerned like she thought I was screaming at him in the front yard. So yeah that was fun.
Did he unlock it, or did you find a different way? This is a fear of mine.
He did unlock finally! I had the living room blinds open and could see him running around laughing ðŸ˜
I guess I will be taking the keys with me from now on for my 30 second walk down the driveway.
Well, the plumber left, close to $700 later. DH and I are going to salvage what's left of the day and go out for a late lunch and then look at car seats. Our wild lives...
I tried to finish shopping and still have stuff to buy. I wrapped some presents and had lunch with a friend downtown. Holding the baby while he sleeps right now and the cleaning people are cleaning. I'm so glad I am not the one cleaning. I wonder if they think I'm lazy for being home and paying someone else to clean while I watch tv.

Who cares what they think!!!
It sounds awesome and a totally necessity.
You are hardly lazy looking after 2 very young children, running a house and organising Christmas.
Enjoy the help while you can - don't let worrying about how it looks spoil that enjoyment.
Go in to hospital every Monday for the baby's heart and movements to be monitored, then every Wednesday for the same plus a scan. It's exhausting.
I'm seriously in a lot of pain all the time - I have excess amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios) and a large baby. Tested negative for diabetes so they are still hunting to find what's causing it (the fluid and the pain).
Went in today for a 30min appointment at 11am. Got out at 4pm! Poor DS and DH were so bored and left and came back and left and came back. I was working and said I'd be gone an hour max.
They did a test of some kind of cervix fluid to see if I was in early labour but I wasn't.
lulu, that sounds miserable! And it seems like you are spending quite a bit of time in the hospital with this baby. Sorry they can't figure out what's causing the issues.

Do you know - the whole of this pregnancy we joked about how much easier it had been than the last.
I'd managed to get to about 29 weeks with nothing of note happening. Now it's all getting serious and I think that's what's making me miserable.
This time I'm getting the feeling that the issue is me...I'm maybe getting too old now and it's having an effect.
It's quite sad thinking this most likely will be our last baby and I know we are so lucky to have what we do considering all my losses and pregnancy related issues, high risks etc.
I started having babies 9 years ago and it's been a rollercoaster so have maybe got to think about our family being complete now.
lulu I had always thought about 3 kids but after all the stress and nonsense with both of these pregnancies I just don't think I can physically or emotionally deal with another one. I'm both relieved and sad thinking this will most likely be our last baby.
I wish we could skip Christmas with the ILs, but we are going there thurs-sat. So this week is a lot of packing and getting everything ready for Christmas before we go. My ILs are on a crazy strict diet with no sugar, fruit, dairy, wheat, etc. I look forward to good food around the holidays but going there is like going on a diet...and no coffee!

Exactly this. I'll be maybe adopting but I won't be putting my body through that again.
And something similar lulu my second pregnancy zipped along until about 18 weeks then it was not fun. I went to a regular appointment at 12, sent to triage for an u/s and bloodwork and not home until 8pm... There's just so much to pregnancy. It really should just be a year of disability.

I think I would be bringing a cooler. I take food to mils for the kids and me.

I can't believe they stick to that at Christmas. What do you have to eat and drink there?

Are you packing contraband to take with you???
My MIL is diabetic and very strict about her diet. They eat things like roast and steamed veggies. They eat mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. I understand the diet but I get sugar withdrawal headaches when I'm there. On top of that, SIL has her mom believing she follows the same diet (she eats way worse than I do) so I look silly bringing my own food. I try to sneak some kind of sugar because kale chips aren't my idea of a snack.

I would be heading off to bed early every night and raiding my suitcase.
I would also probably need a sneaky afternoon nap....and an elevenses 😀

That's crap, is she on the diet by doctors orders or just cause? Either way if it was me I'd bring some good food and coffee with me. Why should everyone be deprived.
