I'm really struggling. I feel like giving up. I'm trying to remember if I felt like this at this point last fall when I did it. Yesterday I ate two pieces of candy and felt like I failed, but I've decided just to move past it and try to do my best from here on out. It is helping me realize that I've always been an emotional eater and maybe this will help curb it.
As far as meals, we're going out tonight. I've advocated for a place that has breakfast so my kids will eat (long story) and I can eat eggs.

claud I feel like I'm struggling too. I'm just trying to Make it through the next couple of days and see what that brings. I have noticed my skin looks really good and I'm focused on having pants that fit better at the end of this month. Those thoughts are helping me muddle through.
I made the most amazing pork shoulder earlier this week- so easy and delicious. I cooked the pork shoulder in the crockpot with pineapple juice, coconut aminos, five spice powder, garlic, sesame oil, and fish sauce (maybe a couple of other Asian flavors, I didn't use a recipe.) I served it over Trader Joe's cauliflower rice and I topped it with a bagged salad mix that was shredded cabbage and shredded carrots and cilantro. I added some chopped scallions to the top. So good.
I usually feel a bit struggle-y on the weeeknds too just bc I end up cooking three meals for everyone in the house both days. It makes it a bit better if I get MH to help with the prep or clean up so I don't feel so overwhelmed.
I went out to dinner with a friend last night and got a piece of grilled salmon and a side salad with no dressing, just some lemons squeezed on top. I made sure to say no butter on the salmon but it was so so so tasty, I kinda wondered if there was butter on it anyways.
Well, I'm starting tomorrow. I did paleo for about a year and lost 50 of the 80 pounds I lost in a 4 to 5 month period. The first bit was slower because I went by the mantra "if it's free, it's paleo" and wound up going out to eat a lot. When I was strict the weight fell off basically. Without exercise. I've gained back 40 with a lot of getting lazy with my diet. I need to reset, so I'm ready to do this thing!
Welp, I effed up last night. I just wanted to go out to dinner & not think about W30. And I did just that. Wine, bread, wings & Caesar salad. But I'm in the mindset of "get right back on track". So I'm back at it today. I bought ground beef, chicken, lots of veggies & sweet potatoes for meal prep. H is away for work Tu-Th next week so I'm going to make a few extra single serve meals so I'm not tempted to eat Dino nuggets w/ my 5 year old for dinner!
This is part of why I goofed last night. I usually have a glass or 2 (ok, it's rarely just 1!) of wine when we go out.
Tonight will be a struggle, H has been making himself a drink w/ dinner most nights. After my slip up last night it'll be hard not to just say "f*ck it" & drink.
But I'm going to just stick to water or seltzer tonight.
My only cheating this round is that I'm allowing myself to drink 2 nights per week. I really don't want to give it up all together but I needed a limit.

Ok, I actually cooked the pork in the crockpot with just water. When the pork was cooked, I pulled it out of the crockpot and mixed it with the Asian sauce mixture. The cooking water is super greasy, so if you put the sauce in while cooking, it gets kind of gross. Definitely unclear in my post
Me! I made the same sweet potato shepherds pie I did last week, but I added a little more sp and beef (the pack was 1.18 lb instead of 1) so I got 6 servings out of it! I baked some chicken yesterday & have leftovers. I have veggie roasting in the oven now & I cut up a bunch & put them in snack-size bags for morning veggie scrambles. I feel super together! But H & DD1 want to go out for Mexican tonight & I'm weak...so....there's that.
Has anyone "baked " sweet potatoes in the crockpot? I'm wondering how they turn out
I did them for Thanksgiving they came out amazing! Sweet potatoes cut up & 1-2 apples peeled & chopped. They weren't paleo, so they had butter & brown sugar. But would be great w/ cinnamon and coconut milk. Just mash them up when they are soft.
ETA - they were much denser than when I boil & mash, I assume b/c they don't retain water.
I'm getting back on the horse so to speak today instead of focusing on my failures this weekend. I know technically with Whole30 they want you to restart if you slip up, but I'm not re-starting because I was weak and put actual creamer in my coffee yesterday and had two small pieces of candy. If I get into that mindset of restarting every small error, I'll just end up beating myself up and likely quitting.
Last night I did a bunch of prep. For today, I had 3 hardboiled eggs for breakfast. I packed some grapes, almonds, and carrots in case I need a snack. For lunch, I made a sweet potato and sausage hash and some veggies to go on the side. Dinner is in the crockpot, but is chicken and apples seasoned with cilantro and a bit of cinnamon. I'm going to serve it with salad.

I'm getting back on the wagon again today too. Overall my eating is better but I had a few bad choices that were non compliant. I have my meals planned and food bought so I'm Ready for the week.
After this is over my plan is to remain paleo except for special treats/meals. So ideally 90%of the time I want to eat paleo. I like how I've added so much more fruit and veggies to my diet and cut out sugar. I would like to keep that up.
Anyone want to tell me what their plan post whole30 is? I've been anxious thinking about this ending and gaining weight back. What's the long term strategy?
My plan is to slowly add in things like dairy and legumes. Other stuff, I'm going to limit to one time per week. Like one cheat day per week, I believe.

I'm going from this to the challenge. The challenge nutrition plan is similar to whole30, but not as strict. You can have beans and some other stuff. It also allows you to earn indulgences, which is helpful to me for longer term.

I plan to be WO30 compliant/Paleo 80-90% of the time. Basically, if I'm not at a party or at a restaurant I'm going to stick to this way of eating. I feel so much better when I do.
The things I really miss in my daily life are brown rice, yogurt/cottage cheese (for a quick source of protein that not a hard boiled egg!) and cream in my coffee. If I can add those back in, I'll be a happy camper.

What's your plan @sterling?
I like this plan. I miss cottage cheese so much too! But I feel like my skin looks better without dairy so maybe I just need to give it up completely
Long term, I think I will stay grain/dairy/sugar free at home but at restaurants I think I'll allow indulgences. We don't eat out very often so this seems like a good compromise.
Is anyone else really struggling with not weighing yourself? I've only managed to skip a weigh-in 1 day during the W30. I can't help it, I step on the scale every AM. I'm not happy with it these days, but I still like to know.
One of my biggest struggles is breakfast. So this week I'm making a batch of banana 'muffins' (bananas, eggs, chia seeds, and almond butter. Like the pancakes but baked in muffin form. I heat them up in the microwave and they make a really easy and filling breakfast.)
I also bought some grain free granola and ate it with cashew milk and a half of grapefruit this morning.
Lemon pepper salmon/roasted green beans Crock pot veggie soup Chicken piccata (I'm going to attempt to bread the chicken with almond flour), cauli rice Fish taco bowls Salad with grilled chicken on top.
I need something crunchy to snack on. Like a chip. What are your go-to's for a crunchy snack? (Not carrot sticks lol!)
I roasted some pumpkin seeds in the shells (like the kind you scrape out of a pumpkin before carving). I found some yummy herb blends on Pinterest to use. My fave so far is Dill Pickle, it's a little vinegar, dill weed, garlic powder and salt. And olive oil.

I'm doing this, albeit on a little different timeframe (today is my day 3). Just wondering what you're drinking. Black coffee, seltzer, and water are not enough for me...

Today is my day 3 too! Coffee, black and herbal teas, seltzer, water, plain iced tea. With the exception of eliminating cream in my coffee this is all I usually drink anyway though .
Have you tried flavored seltzer or infusing your water?
I've tried flavored seltzer, but it just tastes like flavored dishwater to me. I would love the idea of flavored herbal teas, but I had assumed that any sweetness means something has been added that I can't have.
I've never infused my water. I'm going to have to google that.
ETA: Congrats on a successful 2 days! Day 3 will be amazing...
I had leftover shepherds pie for breakfast. I was getting tired of my egg/veggie scramble. But it's 9:30 and I'm already hungry. I guess I just need to stick with eggs for breakfast to keep me full until lunch.
I've been able to make it breakfast-lunch w/o a snack. But around 3:00 I just get hungry. I was eating cashews that I have in my desk drawer, but today I took a hard boiled eggs and a banana for afternoon. I just hope I can make it till 11:30ish -that's the earliest I want to eat lunch.
In case anyone else is getting a sweet tooth craving I made this last whole30 and it's so good: www.stirringstew.com/whole30-apple-crisp/. I switched out coconut on top with sliced almonds. I'm going to make it this weekend.
And I also like to put a little coconut oil in a pan, slice up a banana and pan fry until crispy. Then sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. So good! And super easy.
I'm struggling with my chocolate cravings. I actually crave chocolate more than wine which surprises me. I've given in more than I would like but can limit it to one piece of chocolate. It's definitely not whole30 though and I'd love to find a way to get past this.
