We are doing a brunch at the local train museum. I'm going to keep the food super simple - a box of Joe from Dunkin Donuts, some fun creamers, and maybe a cooler with water, juice boxes and OJ. Then I'm going to hit Costco hard for some quiches, fruit salad and yoghurts. I will probably make chocolate chip muffins.
Since it's at a train museum, I (thankfully) don't have to provide any entertainment, but I may photocopy some pics from a Thomas the Train book for the kids to color ...
I saw a winter One-derland theme on pinterest, so I'm going with that. I'll grab some party trays and drinks. There's probably only going to be one kid there and that's S, so I'm not worried about entertainment. H's cousins very rarely show up at the birthday parties for my kids, and M doesn't have a lot of friends, being one and not in daycare or anything lol.

Dr Seuss themed party with a Sesame Street cake. The grocery store that has a good bakery does not have Dr Seuss, but the Sesame Street comes with little race cars he'll like. Plus, I get a free smash cake.
I'm getting pasta (alfredo and mostaccioli), salad, and breadsticks delivered from a local place. Some easy decor stuff and it will be done.
I'm a little nervous. His party is New Year's Eve and RSVPs aren't exactly rolling in. I'm hoping people are planning to let me know when we get together at Christmas.

NellieOleson, it was a staple growing up in our house. My step-dad's family is Italian so we always had sauce in the fridge or ready to be thawed in the freezer.
I am also doing the Dr. Seuss Happy Birthday book and having people sign it. My sister did it at my niece's first birthday and apparently there's some kind of poem that goes with it. My sister is taking care of that.
We're doing a Winter ONEderland theme. Party will be at our house and really is mainly for the adults (brunch food, brunch cocktails, a smash cake), but what kind of entertainment do I need to provide for other kids? My house is not super kid friendly.
nikiswimr - you are a goddess for even CONSIDERING entertaining the other kids! How old are they?
I went to a Christmas party where toddlers were invited, but I knew that the family doesn't have toddlers so I brought DS' entire wooden train set and tracks in a large bin for the kids to play with. But I am still in disbelief that there was no milk or juice at this party. The only beverages were booze, water and almond milk. There were also no cookies. And the frozen driveway had not been treated. So yes, it was most unwelcoming to Moms of littles!!

nikiswimr I bring a small bag of activities anytime we go anywhere, but I totally appreciate that most people I know keep a container of play dough, crayons, coloring book or a puzzle out for my kids to use. It's always the same few things, but it keeps them busy.
