There might be a stupid pregnancy question thread. Or you could start a new one.
Ooh start one! I need to know what and how to pack a diaper bag!
You're going to get a variety of answers on this...
Like, I wore my own clothes from the moment I was allowed to shower, but I know others who wore the hospital gown and granny mesh underwear until discharge. I also used my own pads because the hospital ones were super uncomfortable and too bulky for me.
If you want to swaddle, bring your own. Trying to swaddle with those receiving blankets was awful and I wish we'd just had our own. I'll be bringing our own this time around
Make sure you have a phone charger packed and extra batteries for your camera
I have done pretty much everything important at work. Tomorrow will be a quiet day, the a/s, and then a week off. Cannot wait. I did take a random 2.5 hour nap today.
When they say people start showing earlier their second pregnancy They mean a full pregnancy right ? Delivered a baby pregnancy? I'm not gonna start showing super early ?
What other stupid questions do I have ....
Also when they say chances of having twins and the stuff go up after a few pregnancies they also mean had baby pregnancies ?
I have more... i'm just getting tired but I have so many more I'm sure of it
I think how and when you show also depends a lot on your body type. I've been pregnant 3 times, never got passed 10 weeks on the other two and I didn't show until 20 weeks. I'm assuming it has to do with the new shape of delivering a full term baby and then getting pregnant with number 2 (or whatever number).

I can't believe you are at A/S time!!!!!
I knoooow. To be fair, it's an early one (18+1 due to scheduling/vacations). But it's crazy!

I agree that it's largely dependent on body. I was pregnant once before, with an early loss, and feel like I started to show pretty early with this one (bump and boobs).
did something bad happen tonight? 3 people on FB posted vague status updates about "loving your family hard tonight" and they "can't believe what happened"..?
I don't see anything on BBC or WaPo. Something local?

@wineandcupcakes diaper bag for newborn: 3-4 diapers, baby wipes, burp cloth, change of clothes, nursing cover (if you use one), pacis (if you use them), maybe an extra blanket, nipple cream.
I also like the little diaper trash bags because they keep the poop smell contained. Also possibly bottle/s with pumped milk or formula depending on how long you'll be out and your feeding situation.
@xamountofwords yes, showing earlier is usually for people who have had a full term or close to term pregnancy. The abdominal wall and muscles loosen up some. I've never heard of the twin incidence going up
Follow up question: what did you do for bottles? I hear they need to be sterilized...how often? Can the nipples be sterilized too? Is it worth investing in a bottle sterilizer? I'm having twins so efficiency is key.
Also, we have two starter kits for bottles...does it make sense for us to order more after we know what the babies like? I'm so bottle clueless.
I read to sterilize them before they're first used and after each time the kiddo is sick. We thought about a sterilizer, but it really wasn't a big hassle to just use a pot and boil it.
I thought sterilize meant wash 😂😂😂😂 my poor daughter.

lol I was clueless when I first started this pregnancy thing. I'm telling you, Google probably has my search history printed and hung up on the wall of clueless people.
You should print it for I's baby book. Along with your post history here and the live blog I'm going to post.

@wineandcupcakes bottles can be sterilized in the dishwasher, Medela makes these cool microwavable sterilizer bags too. I never sterilized the actual bottles but I did boil the nipples when they were brand new. You will get differing opinions on this. I'm not a big germophobe and my kid was full term so I wasn't super concerned.
We used to handwash everything with DS but with this one I bought a dishwasher basket, not gonna have time to handwash.
You will want more bottles after you figure out what they like. We had 12 for DS and that lasted 1-2 days depending on how my pumping sessions went. I usually had three in the fridge and took three empties with me. He was also on formula supplement in the first few weeks and we easily went through 6-8 bottles a day.

And trust me, on the Dump we had multiple 'stupid question' threads on my BMB and I learned a ton. My BMB here is mostly STMs so we all sorta remember what to do.
We can totally start a stupid question thread if you all want. I was about to start one on Jan17 because coming home with a newborn makes your cognitive skills evaporate

Three batches of fudge done in one hour. On the plus side, took a lot less time than expected. On the not so great side, I hurt so bad I can't relax. Grrr.

@wineandcupcakes for breastfeeding I recommend trying to find a class, but honestly until baby is here and you are trying it, it's all very abstract. Some babies are naturals, some are vigorous, some are lazy. Take advantage of the lactation consultant at the hospital or the midwife if you are at a birthing center. They will help you with latching, positions etc
I sterilized the nipples with first use after purchase and then never did again. We replaced the nipples every 3 months as we moved up in speeds. Sterilizer was a waste for us and never got that or a bottle opener.
On bottles, we went through 8 or 9 brands until we found what worked for us..
it depends. I lost my first at around 11 weeks and had only started to bloat at that time. No boob increase. With DS1, my boobs grew a cup within a week of a positive test and I was bloated to hell by 8 weeks with no bump until 16ish. With this one, I was bloated before I knew with a bump by 12-13 weeks

How do you know when to go up in speed with the nipples?
DS1 would get really angry at the bottle and start refusing it. Seeing as it was his food source, we gave the next size up a try and it solved the issue. He did the same thing each time- he'd attempt to get something out, then start screaming or throwing the bottle when he was holding it himself. The first 1-2 days of a new speed was a learning curve for him and then we'd be fine for a few months. We used the avent system and had moved completely to the silicone sippy nipples by 10 months.
Bear in mind though that I have a very stubborn child who has always been determined to do things as fast as possible, by himself, correctly. (Like, he didn't crawl until he knew he could make it across the room and never got up to attempt walking until the day he stood up and walked all the way across the room). He takes after his mother 😂🙈Some kids never move up in speed.
