At what hCG level are abdominal ultrasounds done versus vaginal ones?
I'm not sure at beta level, but I had abdominal at 7w5d for this baby. I've heard of a good number of places attempting an abdominal after 7 weeks and switching to vaginal if they can't see anything
Although, they tried to do vaginal at my anatomy scan this time around and I had one at 31w with DS1, so be prepared for that.
You'll need a full bladder for scans prior to the A/S but then you should be okay. I haven't had a full bladder for one since my NT with no issues

I definitely have instructions for having a full bladder, ao I assume they're planning to try abdominal first? Then switch to vaginal if that shows nothing?
The aches/pains I had yesterday on the side of my abdomen are from my uterus growing, correct? It wasn't sharp, just annoying.
Most likely, yes. They're a nuisance. Random- You may find the often happen on the same day(s) of the week.. not always the case but it's interesting when it does happen

If they want full bladder, i would assume it is abdominal that they are going to try

I had transvaginal at 6w+2 and my hCG at 6w was ~44,000. My U/S by the midwife at 11 weeks was also transvaginal - she didn't try abdominal, maybe because the reason we were doing the U/S in the first place was because she couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler. I had both abdominal and transvaginal at my A/S at 19 weeks but only because they found I had accessory lobed placenta and that was their protocol.

I don't betas, but my two at the RE were vaginal, and that was before/at 8 weeks. The only vaginal I've had at my OB was the NT scan at about 13 weeks (they did both vaginal and abdominal).
At what hCG level are abdominal ultrasounds done versus vaginal ones?
All of my early ultrasounds were transvaginal. I didn't get an abdominal one until my NT scan at 12 weeks. I made the mistake of drinking too much water ahead of time - I had to wait almost an hour for the scan since we met with the geneticist first. For the anatomy scan I went to the bathroom before I left and just chugged water while on the way there. Much better.

I had this as well during the earlier part of second tri. My doctor told me it was most likely ligament pain. When I pointed to where I was feeling it, they said it wasn't anywhere near baby so that made me feel less worried.

Hi Rama,
At 7 weeks and 9 weeks my RE has always done both. Abdominal and vaginal. I can tell you that there is a significant difference between what you can see on the abdominal vs vaginal. There are reasons for doing both though including looking at your ovaries. So I came full bladder (just normal full), peed and then did vaginal.

I didn't have betas, but my first U/S was at 7w2d and they were able to do an abdominal u/s. I had to have a full bladder so if they're telling you to come with a full bladder your assumption that they're planning to try abdominal first is probably correct.
Am I going to be constipated the entire second trimester?
Aloe juice (the actual stuff from the international food aisle, not the pharmacy aisle stuff) and birds & bees pregnancy tea. Both worked wonders for me
