Played major hard ball. I'm actually proud of us. Told them well sleep on it for a few nights but we might pull off getting the higher trim level for $400 a month. I'm stressed out and exhausted now hah.

Heck yea! Car shopping is both stressful and totally exhausting!

Yay mustloveerica! You will need to come negotiate for me when we go car shopping
A/s went well! We have to go back in a couple weeks because baby girl was stubborn and wouldn't let the tech see her heart. But everything else looked great.

The guy kept trying to talk me into the lower trim level. And I'm like nope this ass needs leather heated seats. But $400 is about what we pay for the civic we're going to trade in so I feel comfortable with it. I'm excited!!! But kind of not.....cuz minivan. I hope I fall into the minivan lover category eventually. Right now I'm not thrilled to be losing my SUV. Technically I'm not losing it but it will become DHs car.
New confession: H is at the grocery store. I said I'd go with him earlier, but then felt like I was hit by a truck when the time came so I played that card till he agreed to go on his own. To be fair, I also said we could skip it and figure out meals based on what we had.
DH gave me a Christmas gift early... he got me a cordless (rechargeable battery) shiatsu massage. Pardon me while I sit here and enjoy this massager two days early
I love it too!!! But holy hell its expensive. I sat in one and DH had to drag me out. He grumbled something about college funds....hahha.
Also the salesman laughed when I put the third row seats of the minivan down and went "hey we could total fit a couple of Great Danes back here!!"
Yes I did have a panic attack about the price. The most we had ever spent on a car was the lower trim CRV in 2011. Now I just think I'm in denial.
I spoiled myself with my Kia when I got it. I got the higher trim and added more stuff on top of that. So I went into this saying I will drive a minivan only IF I can get the features I loved the most from my Kia. We haven't bought yet. DH has to make the final call but I'm guessing we'll go back Monday and get the odyssey. It's the closest I'll come to loving a minivan I think.

@wineandcupcakes the best way to negotiate is to not say anything. I kept looking back and forth between DH and the sales guy and he kept dropping the price. And whenever he suggested a lower trim level I just said no. No explanation necessary. They get nervous when you don't say anything or budge on your demands and then they're the ones that fold. I learned from the best. My dad never settles for less than he wants.

This was my daughter too. They ended up taking videos the second time because they couldn't get a still.

You shouldn't have to settle if you are being reasonable. Obviously I'm in sales so I get it but I prefer to find the best deals for my customers so they don't need to haggle with me. I also have no problem telling someone when they have unrealistic expectations or they are going to hate the place they picked because it's a poor fit. I'm not going to book someone just to get the sale if I have to fix a customer service issue. I don't need headaches.
