My boys are 1yr, not quite 10mo adjusted. Something has to change about bedtime, but I don't know how to do it with two below is some detail about our specifics, but mostly I want to know what methods you used and if you separated them during training or what.
A little background:
- when they first came home from the nicu they were on a great schedule. We'd put them in RnPs sleepy and they'd pass out.
-crib transition went well. They would usually fall asleep during their bedtime bottle anyway so we'd just transfer and poof bedtime done
-as they got a little older there was somewhat more rocking/bouncing, but they'd still pass out easily in our arms and transfer to the crib no problem
For the past several weeks things have just gotten progressively worse. Rocking/ bouncing is taking forever sometimes. Laying them down awake results in either immediately standing up or crying, depending on how tired/drowsy they are.
Our routine is simple, but consistent: pjs, dim the lights, bottle in mom/dad's arms, white noise, swaddle in a muslin blanket (more for the routine than the swaddle, they wiggle out of it motn), then rocking/bouncing.
We tried one night of a modified cio (cry 1 minute, go soothe, cry two minutes, etc.) But S got more worked up with each soothing to the point he was making himself cough/gag, so I don't think that will work at least not for him. L usually will be pretty chill if I just lay him down (even if he is standing most of the time), but he won't self soothe to sleep if S is still up, but will sometimes talk to himself so loud it wakes a lightly sleeping S.
Ugh, I don't know. Teach me your ways.
