Who here did CVS testing? I'm reading about it now and don't know where I stand on it. I'd like some opinions/ experiences. Please and thank you 😊
It's a higher risk (but still lower risk), invasive test. My personal opinion is that I wouldn't do anything invasive until/unless there are signs pointing towards a genetic issue in the baby and you want a confirmatory diagnosis. So, for me, I would opt for the NIPT blood tests + NT results first and see where that leads. The anatomy scan would also provide a good idea of what's going on in the baby based on how things look.
+1 to this. I would look into doing the NIPT testing and the NT scan. As I am AMA my insurance covered both - you should definitely look into what is covered. If anything had come back abnormal on those tests only then would I have moved to CVS. From reading about experiences here usually a good result on the NIPT + NT scan is enough peace of mind for most to move forward without further diagnostic testing.
My husband also owns a manual that I can't drive lol. I told him though this is his last car like this haha.
In terms of back up carseat, if you already have two bases (one installed in each car), the infant seat is small and just stays with baby at all times. So like if goes to daycare, the infant seat would stay with baby at daycare and either of you could pick up and pop into the base installed in your car. Base + convertible would take up an entire back seat in most cars. You can also install infant seats without a base, it's just a pain the a** compared to clicking in and out.
The convertible would be in place of the infant seat of used in the same car. It'd be pointless to have a base and a convertible installed in the same car for one kid. Convertibles can be used from birth through the weight limit (often toddlerhood), so buying a convertible for one car (versus an extra base) can be cost effective long term.
Since she was gifted an extra base, if they elected to use the infant seat in both cars and still purchase a convertible to break up the cost of the two they will ultimately buy, she'd most likely store the convertible elsewhere.
Right lol, that was a dumb statement haha. But who knows, someone might want to put both back there lol. But yes, convertible can be used infant up Since she does have two bases, the convertible would probably go in the basement haha or another option I'd put in Grandma/Grandpa's car if they live relatively close.

Has any of you deal with ovarian cysts during pregnancy? During my first scan this Thursday (there's actually a baby in there, measuring on track and with a hb, omg!) the doctor spotted a 45mm cyst on my left ovary. Tbh I was relieved, as I had experienced some sharp pains and discomfort in the area and was secretly worried about ectopic.. so to find it was 'just' a cyst was nice LOL. The RE didn't seem too concerned but said some contradicting things, so now I'm feeling a little confused. I know tis not thát big, and cysts normally resolve on their own right? I checked Dr Google but most info I found was about cysts in normal cycles, not during pregnancy.. Was just wondering, shouldn't my symptoms get less/go away rather stay the same or perhaps even got a little worse over the past days?

It depends on the type of cyst you have. I have/had recurrent bilateral dermoid cysts on my ovaries. Not sure what kind you have, but dermoids are non-functional, meaning they do not go away on their own and are usually filled with tissue such as hair, bone, or teeth. Bodies are fun. Pregnancy can either speed up their growth or not do a damn thing. Either way, they were small enough that they got monitored every 6 weeks or so. Had they gotten bigger or burst, it may cause ovarian torsion or ovarian death. Space can become an issue if they grow too big. Mine were about the size of yours, 4 cm and 6 cm and did not change in size over the course of my pregnancy. I had virtually no cyst pain and the cysts were removed after my son was born via c-section.
Thanks madamewaffles, and @wineandcupcakes for your input. So odd, The RE didn't mention anything about rupture at all! Just something about ovarian torsion, but that she wasn't too worried cause it wasn't big enough for that. It's good to know that it may burst, and that that will be painful. If this happens, do I need to go see the dr or can I just wait things out?
madamewaffles, the cyst was just fluids, according to the RE prolly a result from stims and ER. The ovarian death bit scares me a little.. that's not a given though right even if it was to rupture?? My left ovary is the only functioning one I have left.. heh.
I haven't really had any shooting pains lately, mostly discomfort which comes and goes. I'm not really worried, just felt like I didn't really have much information, so I'm glad I was able to ask here. I have another U/S scheduled for the 11th, will make sure they take another look at the cyst as well, and go from there.
muscari my ovaries were super enlarged from IVF and had multiple cysts. My MFM kept an eye on them but they didn't cause any issues and they never ruptured. I don't exactly remember when they went away but I think they lasted at least into second tri because the hormones kept them alive, but eventually they did shrink. If your doctor isn't worried, you don't need to be.
muscari do you know what kind of cysts they are? I had mild OHSS after my IUI cycle that worked - I had 6-7 follicles and several of them turned into corpus luteum cysts that stuck around through 1st and early 2nd trimester. My ovaries were pretty huge at the beginning of pregnancy and slowly shrank down as the cysts got smaller. Both sides were quite achy but that subsided around week 16 or so. My RE checked on them each week at my pre-graduation appointments to make sure they were shrinking and my OB monitored after that.

I have heard some other posters getting a fetal echocardiogram and it's because they did IVF. My OB hasn't mentioned this. Is this something I should ask about?

I'm getting one because I am on zoloft. I haven't heard of the ivf reason.

This varies widely by OB. Mine treated IVF patients like special snowflakes so I had one, but a lot of the other people on PAIF at the time I was here, never had one. I wouldn't worry about it if the OB isn't requiring it.

I remember reading in my IVF book from the clinic that there is a very small increase in heart issues with IVF babies. I never had one with DD. I think most of that stuff should show up on the 20 week anatomy scan if there is a problem then get a fetal echocardiogram to confirm.

We have had 3 fetal echo's, my OB does them with all IVF patients (because of the slight increase in cardiac abnormalities) and because of the twins we have had to have multiples to get the right angles/shots. I think it's highly dependent on how your OB does things.

yoshijo28 my RE had me stop progesterone at 9 weeks both times. You should be fine teachermomtobe no I did not have it done with my DD (IVF baby). There were no indications at the NT or AS that there was an issue so no further testing was needed. I think that's out dated thinking on the part of some MFMs. I will have one this time just because it's triplets so there's a higher risk of heart or other issues.

She didn't say but from what I understand tis just a functional cyst, a leftover from stims and ER - though not linked to mild OHSS or anything, I only had 3 follies total heh. There's not been any pain lately just the uncomfortable feeling still. I think we graduate from RE to OB after next weeks U/S so I guess I'll just ask for the OB to double check during following scans to make sure it's shrinking, and go from there. I'm not really worried, just like to know what I can expect I guess Thanks!
I hate that I'm worrying about this nonstop. But I won't feel better for 2 weeks until our NT scan on the 20th..
I don't feel pregnant anymore. I'm 10w1d. I'm not overly tired or hungry anymore which were pretty intense the last few weeks. I've actually been feeling good since 9w3d. We last saw baby at 9w.
I know it's bad if symptoms disappear but I'm also wondering if they just peaked and are now getting better?
I don't know what I'm asking, I didn't want to AW a new thread, but I don't know if this is normal. I've been having some stomach pains and bloating, I think they are intestinal (shooting pains near my belly button) so that isn't helping.

yoshijo28, I'm not officially a grad, but farther along than you are so I'll tell you about my symptoms. Weeks 6-8 were unbearable. I woke up at 8w on the dot and felt a lot better (not 100% but better than I had been feeling) but was concerned by the lack of symptoms. By week 12 I almost felt normal. Now at week 17 I feel like myself except I'm a bit hungrier. My bump is still very small which makes my PAIF brain go crazy but I remind myself that feeling better is normal. Easier said than done, but I'm sure everything is fine with you since decreasing symptoms are normal as you go on.
yoshijo28 my first tri symptoms disappeared around 9 weeks and I didn't feel pregnant again until baby movement happened around 24 weeks. I felt like an imposter!
The intentional pain you described sounds like round ligament pain which I felt a lot around the end of 1st tri. You will see some rapid bump growth soon I bet!
I was able to find the baby on an at home Doppler around 11 weeks. It took a lot of searching then but it brought me a lot of comfort.
teachermomtobe I swear I woke up on 19w on the dot and my stomach practically doubled in size! Just wait! 😉

yoshijo28 just gonna chime in and say you are not alone! I symptom spotted until I felt movement consistently. There were many days where I didn't feel pregnant at all, especially in that end-of-1st-tri/beginning-of-2nd-tri sweet spot where you're at right now. I also had the same kind of pain you are describing. What helped me was repeating my mantras and living in the moment. Easier said than done, of course, but know you have us to support you!

thanks so much! The mantras help and I'm telling myself I have evidence I am pregnant and no evidence that I am not. So unless I have a reason (a real one, not anxiety) to believe otherwise, baby is ok

yoshijo28 getting a Doppler is probably a good idea. Right now you might still be too early to find your baby, but in 2-3 weeks you should be able to. DH and I had one day a week that we'd use the Doppler and read our pregnancy app. I tried to use it sparingly, but on bad PGAL/PAIF days I would use it to get reassurance.

thanks I definately think I will. Maybe I'll try to use it the day before my next u/s so even if I can't find a hb I go to the dr the next day. My only worry is the tech couldn't find the hb last time bc my uterus was backwards (her words) so she had to do a transvaginal u/s

Late comment is late.. I am not sure whether it is the same as the english and dutch names for things aren't the same and confuse me sometimes lol. But we will be getting a more extensive anatomy scan at 20 weeks since we conceived through ivf/icsi and the icsi bit puts us at a slightly higher risk for anomalies and issues.

At 10 weeks I stopped all my symptoms until headaches started around 15 weeks. I was worried I wasn't pregnant any more, but I ended up buying a heart beat thingy (Omg the name is escaping me!) And was able to pick up his heartbeat and it really relieved my anxieties until I started to feel movement around 24 weeks.
So pretty much symptoms disappearing around 10 weeks is normal for some women

yoshijo28, my experience is a bit different, but still a PAIF mindfuck. Besides exhaustion, I had zero symptoms until about 8 weeks when I developed low back pain like woah. That went away right when I hit 2nd tri. I was back to having pretty much zero symptoms for the entire 2nd tri. 3rd tri is a whole other story. The only thing that kept my sanity intact during 2nd was the fact that I started feeling her move pretty early- 14 weeks. So that was very reassuring. PAIF: makes an easy pregnancy super shitty.
