meagpt22 sorry about the weight gain issues. I have no advice other than what you already mentioned, but is LO distracted while nursing or has he always been a snacker?
My LO also nurses just long enough to take the edge off (sometime less than 2 minutes) then he hears something across the room that he MUST sit up and talk to. I can never get a full feed into him unless there is complete silence and nothing interesting for him to see.
This is DD3 also. DD2 could easily go 3 hours between feeds at this age. DD3 has to be stuffed every 2 hours or less to get enough because it is never dark and quiet across the room with 2 big sisters in the house.
DD is like this as well. Too many interesting things to see to focus on something as boring as eating. I'm constantly telling her to focus, lol.

I'm working this week and no one is in the office. Even though I work at home it's still painful to try to work when no one is around.
H asked nannys H to come over today. He had been out of work fo six months now so H is helping him w his resume and find jobs at his company and mine. I need her H to get a job so I don't feel like a jerk about quitting work and her losing her job by default!
I had a sheer moment of terror today. It's kinda funny now, but my heart basically fell in my stomach when it happened.
I was taking a shower so I had LO in his walker in the bathroom with me. I was singing (loudly and terribly) and suddenly realized I didn't hear LO talking anymore. I peep out the curtain and I didn't see him.
I completely freaked and jumped out the shower still soapy and everything. Didn't even grab a towel.
He was in the living room watching tv. He made it out of the tiny bathroom and down the hall to the source of the (good) music he was hearing.
I don't know if I should be impressed or embarrassed.
bocaburger I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a post from you in a few days. I hope it's because you are having an awesome time enjoying the holiday with your family.

Aw I'm so flattered that you noticed my absence! Just having a nice but busy holiday with my family. And they live in the boonies with poor cell service and slow internet so it's been hard to post, but I'm lurking when I can.
We have had a rough holiday over here. My daughter had norovirus and we had to go to the ER in the town my inlaws live in after she vomited 15 times. Then I ended up with it too. Several others in my H extended family have gotten it so far and my H is worried he's next. We had to cancel our big holiday plans to Washington DC which sucks bc my daughter was supposed to meet several of my family members. When my daughter was sick she wasn't eating anything so I had to pump to keep supply & prevent mastitis. But then I realized I didn't have all my parts (we were at inlaws). So I had to hand express while FIL went to Target to get me a manual pump. Then when I got norovirus 48 hours later I was way too sick to feed her so I was attempting to pump in between vomit sessions just to maintain supply (pump & dump because contaminated flanges, etc.). Norovirus doesn't mess around.
This is a really silly little thing, but it's actually making me emotional tonight. We were on vacation for two weeks, so of course we had no food in our house. When we got home tonight, MIL had dropped off a gallon of milk for the kids and a pan of brownies. She is so thoughtful and saved us a trip out to get milk. I don't have my mom anymore, and I'm just really happy to have her. She's the best.

katelm ugh, that sounds terrible. There's so much stuff going around right now. MH had the flu or something on Christmas and I've been scared to death that DD will get it. Hope everyone is on the mend and it slips YH.

My kids are going stir crazy. All three of them. I need preschool to start back up!!! I told S2 I was going to throw one of his toys away if he didn't start listening. He looked at me and said "I want you to throw it away." Yikes.
DD is going to a Polar Beat plunge with me tomorrow. I told my coach I couldn't go because I didn't want to leave H with all of the kids so she is brining her husband to snuggle DD so I can participate with the team:)
I have known my coach and her family since I was in high school so it's not weird just really thoughtful:)

lol I had to do a double take here. I was like HOW?! Until I saw he was in a walker thing. Haha. Oh brain.

Do babies have nightmares? G is sleeping and just suddenly screamed for like 5 seconds. I went in to check on her and she is fast asleep. It was so weird.

My baby does this, too. I've heard it discussed by others here and there so I don't think it's uncommon. Weird and startling, though!

They don't think babies have nightmares. Dreams seem to start at 3 I have read.
Overtiredness and gas are causes of sleep cries here. Sleep cries sound horrible, but can't be that bad since the kids sleep through.
I still nurse my baby to sleep for naps and at bedtime. Part of me wonders if that's why he takes such short naps (usually about 35 minutes) but he's such a good sleeper at night for the most part.

Am I breaking my baby?
It's only broken if it doesn't work for you.
Also a good night sleeper may not have enough sleep left for long naps until he is only on one or two.

I don't think so. DD has slowly become a good night sleeper (when she's not sick) and I think it's made her naps worse. She typically only gets one "good" nap and the rest are 30 minutes. I nurse her to sleep at night, but we rock/bounce for naps. It seems to work for us. MH really wants us to let her cry it out to put herself to sleep, but I'm firmly in the camp not comfortable with that. I think it's ok to use whatever works for you! And to a certain degree "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Sounds like he's just a short napper.

I also nurse my baby to sleep, it's the only way I can get her to fall asleep right now. We are still in survival mode. I don't know any middle schoolers or even elementary school kids needing to nurse to sleep so obviously they don't become dependent forever!

Mine randomly cries out too. I also assumed nightmares, I didn't know they likely didn't have dreams yet

Baby Girl naps rather badly in a crib or even in my arms. But in the swing? She naps for hooooours. So, that's where weekend naps happen! She won't fit in the swing forever soo... shit.
It doesn't seem to affect her night time sleep, but she's still up 2-3x a night as she still needs to eat.

Spent the night in the ER E woke up with this honking cough, and the on call nurse heard him breathing over the phone and said to go in. Croup croup croup croup. They gave E some steroids and he seems happy as can be now. But DH and I are totally wrecked from the adventure!

I nurse to sleep at night with DS. And DD got a bottle to sleep. At one she had no issues getting rid of it. And at 9 months we sleep trained her but more bc of paci then bottle. So no you are not breaking your baby.
Edit both kids seem to be better nighttime sleepers than good nappers. I always chose nighttime sleep. Bc frankly I only deal with naps a couple times a week. Haha.
Thanks everyone you guys always know how to make me feel like I'm doing okay over here.
Of course I jinxed it last night. He got up 4 times. Like ummmm who is this child this isn't the deal haha. But for now, he gets to keep sleeping on the boob.
