Baby has been on me all day since 11. If I managed to get him to nurse both sides, he'd sleep for an hr. Otherwise, he'd be up every 30 min. Growth spurt? I was starving by 1 and needed Dh's help to eat lunch. I just hope this means he'll sleep longer than his usual 2 hr stretches tonight. FX.
Thanks ladies! I've done a concussion at 9 months and febrile seizure at 12 months with DS2. I was relatively calm for those, but was so much more upset about this since he's so little. It really was an accident, but DS1 didn't realize how bad it could've been. Clearly, baby won't be laying on his snugly play mat again anytime soon when they're home. I just try to change up places for him if I'm not holding him. And you can bet I've been holding him most of the day after we got home.
harfamilyof3 if I were your boss, I definitely wouldn't have a problem with it. I'm sure they're understanding. I'm sure they want her to be ok before going there too. No need to feel guilty.
Winnifred I'm glad thing are going better. I was completely overwhelmed with breastfeeding and this is baby #3, but first time breastfeeding. The people in the hospital totally know how to stress you the eff out about it. I felt better after talking to my pedi and finding out I didn't need to pump around the clock and could put it in a bottle, instead of syringe, when I did. No way could I do every single feeding, which I was. You'll feel better and more relaxed about leaving the house with baby after the first time.

@kc295905, I have a pouch sling and have been searching for a ring sling to use as well. I like it for popping her in and out of and when I'm not doing stuff that's super active. H uses it when he's at his desk with her because she's generally really content in it. I prefer the Moby for more active stuff or when I need to wear her for longer periods of time. She'll happy stay in the Moby for 2 hours without making a peep. She was in it last week during the kids holiday parties at school for about 2 1/2 hours. I like how easy the sling is though -- it's a lot less work to put on. I have a mei tai for when she's a little bigger. It was my favorite out of the 3 with my other kids once they got bigger.
littlelion, don't breastfed babies have quite a few growth spurts the first couple of weeks? Maybe you're right and it's time for one. I hope he lets you get some sleep tonight.
Are any of us using formula either to supplement or as the only food source?
I'm feeling really good about mixing bf and formula, because the constant pumping/feeding cycle was just too much for me. But it seems like most everyone is exclusively breastfeeding?
Also, apologies... totally not up on what's going with anyone!

I had to look that up but yes, it does look like it! I hope these "spurts" are only a day long...my nips can't handle much more.

I'm 100% formula now. I pumped for 3.5 weeks and was supplementing, but then made the switch to all formula.

Omg littlelion that is intense. I have also spent most of today feeding my kiddo. She basically just nurses off and on for the entire 1.5 hrs that she is awake! She was just up for 3 hrs this evening (ouch!) and fell asleep for 45 mins and woke back up again screaming in hunger. She's having a ton of poop and pee diapers and was jaundiced at birth so I'm glad she's getting the bilirubin out of her system but I'm spent!
Will try to catch up and respond to people tonight/tomorrow.. so hard to type one handed on my large iPhone!!

I also plan on asking the pediatrician tomorrow what to do but how do you decide when to wake a baby who is feeding for so long. They said every two hrs from start of feed but that is insane if it takes her 45 mins sometimes. I've been waking for 1.5 hrs of sleep during the day and 2 hrs of sleep at night so slightly longer than recommended but otherwise neither of us would sleep!
Also now I think she is reading my phone because she is passed out after a 16 minute feed!

Lies. Back on the boob.
Well now I want an Apple Watch. I already have a garmin so not sure I can justify though. We will see how much running I am doing after my six week appointment! Although the idea of it now makes my boobs ache.
harfamilyof3 good luck with work! I can understand why you are nervous -- you sound like a responsible employee -- but I'd totally feel the same way.
mrswillie how scary and I'm glad LO is okay!! DS has been a bit wild (unusual for him) and jumpy since I've been home (or maybe I am just noticing it more?) and I have to keep reminding him to be careful with baby sister around.

At the hospital they told me every 3-4 hours from the start of the feed. He likes his sleep and goes anywhere from 3 - 4.5 hours during the night. I won't let him go longer than that. With my DS's who were formula fed, I was told every 3 hours during the day and not more than 4 hours at night up until they hit 10 lbs. Once they did, I didn't need to wake them.

And dh was out tonight. My sister was here helping. When she left I text him to come home. He said but he'd only been out 3 hrs...imagine my response. Currently crying in the bathroom cause my husband's an asshole. He's holding a crying baby telling me he's hungry. Yes. I know.
I wasn't feeling the baby so we came into l&d. She's totally fine and cozy in there, we even got to see her face on the ultrasound and she's got some chubby cheeks. And I'm still not dilated at all! The doc was going to strip my membranes for me but she said I was too closed even for that. The RN is leaving a lot to be desired, he repeats things a lot which doesn't inspire a ton of confidence. Heading home once some labs come back. I need to find someplace to go walk tomorrow I guess.

Glad all is ok!!! She's quite comfy in there it sounds.

littlelion I'm so sorry. These early days really are so hard -- I thought I remembered but clearly had forgotten -- and you deserve a lot of support!
@cahistoryteacher glad you went to get checked out and everything is okay! Hope things start happening soon for you!
Thanks mrswillie I let her sleep a little longer (almost three hours so 3.75 hrs since the start of the last feed). She is (fingers crossed) back to sleep within 40 mins so I am going to call that a win. They told me every two hours at the hospital with three hrs at night and up to one four our, but with how long she is actively eating that just seems insane for both of us! And I'm super engorged so not like my supply is affected.

Also starting my placenta pills tomorrow. Hopefully will make for a less overwhelmed mommy. Patience is not my strong suit but I really have been not patient at all with DS since I've been home and that kola me.

I totally get your last sentence!! I was doing just that and I dropped my phone right on Tommy's back. He jumped and gave me THE BEST "WTF" look and went back to sleep. Sorry, baby.

Glad she's happy in there!!!
I also wasn't feeling baby as much on Monday as I was the 2 previous days. I got some movement after a bunch of ice water so we didn't go in. DH kept saying not to worry but I told him I'm supposed to be paying attention to his movement and lack of movement. My doctor also tried to strip my membranes at my last appointment and I also was too closed.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ring sling. I have an ergo and a wrap, but I think my sling is the easiest for this age. However, the lady I bought from made me learn how to wear her properly before she let me leave her store with it.
I think that's my problem. I've only watched videos and I'm not very good at modeling things. I really want to figure it out!
Do you have a local shop that sells babywearing gear or cloth diapers? They usually have classes on baby wearing or can at least show you in person.
