Happy NYE!!! It's been such a great year and I cannot wait for 2017! We are celebrating on the couch at home. I don't think I'll ever go out for nye again lol.

NYE is the big fireworks festival in Germany, and private citizens buy all sorts of crazy big fireworks that I'm almost certain are illegal in the US except for professional fireworks displays. Yesterday (NYE) was our big xmas party with DH's family, and it went pretty well other than some weird comments MIL made to SIL, but that's par for the course. MIL just blurts out whatever is in her head and doesn't think about how it sounds to anyone else.
DD2 listens to music to fall asleep and we left it on in the hopes that she would sleep through the fireworks (which she did!), and the biggest miracle of all was that DD3 slept through them! They were really loud and all around our house, so I was really expecting her to wake up. The only kid who did, though, was DD1. She got scared and I held her while we watched the fireworks for a few minutes and then I put her back to bed. DH gets major kudos for letting me sleep in this morning

Happy New Year, ladies!! I really haven't slept. I got a few broken hours. H drove up after his shift at the bar so of course I couldn't sleep good since he was on the road in the MOTN. DD woke up at 2 am ready to party and was up till 3:30. H got in after 5am and DD promptly woke up and was so excited to see him. So yeah, no sleep. I'm drinking coffee watching the snow come down. DD just fell back to sleep on me.
I'm starting the new year with very little sleep as well. I went to bed around 11:15 and got woken up by a VERY loud firework at midnight. In my sleep induced haze, I totally forgot about NYE and fireworks, so jumped out of bed totally freaked out about WTF that giant boom was. I eventually got back to sleep, but then dd2 woke up at 2:30 - wide awake and ready to party like it's 2017. At 3:15 I went to get H up to hang out with her because I was starting to lose it. Somehow in the commotion dd1 woke up and then SHE couldn't sleep. I think the kids and H were back to bed around 4:15, and I was back to sleep around 5. Of course dd2 didn't sleep in after all that and was up for the day at 6:30.
It's not even 8 and dd2 is ready for a nap. I'm making her wait until I finish my damn coffee first.
Happy New Year, ladies! So thankful to have all of you. Xo
Not a lot of sleep last night for us either. What is the trick to getting baby cakes to sleep for longer than 2hrs at a time?!?!? send help and coffee.

My dd1 started sleeping longer than 2 hours at a time when she was about 14 or 15 months old?
I am looking forward to some longer stretches for dd2. Her sleep is awful right now. Two nights ago I set the stopwatch on my phone and hit the lap button every time she woke up. Her longest stretch was 1 hour and 19 minutes.
I'm blaming it on teething, but who knows with these wacky babies.
NellieOleson and scorpioscuba I'm right there with you. Fireworks for an hour and a half in the middle of the night wtf? Kids slept through it, dd3 was up at 2 for her feeding though so I basically went to bed at 230am and got up at 630. Dh is tired though so he's skipping lunch and is now back in bed. Seriously irritated. He could barely mutter "I love you". I want to know when I get to roll over and die when I get a cold. Damn men.
We have friends coming over so we went on a cleaning spree. H did a ton before he got me up, and I did part of the living room, cleaned the gerbil cage, and vacuumed. S is cleaning up the play room, and M is napping. When our friends get here their little guy is going to go down for a nap while we play board games.

Thank you notes for Christmas?? That's a thing? I'm not doing that.
I do need to do them for his birthday. I wonder if any of the recipients are like me. Open it up, see that it is a thank you note, chuck it in the garbage.
I accomplished nothing today and if this headache turns into a migraine I will accomplish nothing tomorrow. H did go through his clothes. I at least want to get through mine tomorrow.
Thank you notes are not a thing in my circle. We say thank you in person when we open the gift, or if someone is far away and sent something we'll call to say thank you.
The game I bought for H was interesting. We got stuck when we had to solve a riddle with very few clues, and most of them didn't seem like clues until after we solved the riddle (by cheating). But we figured it out, and won a bonus to help when we play the expansion. After our friends left we decided to order Chinese food. Tomorrow we'll be running all over town for errands. And possibly out to H's bank, since his grandma gave us a cheque for Christmas. If we do go to the bank we'll probably stop for donairs for lunch.
Happy New Year, mamas! I'm pumped for 2017 and i hope you all are too. For NYE we stayed home, as usual, which I really prefer over going out, kelltothekell! I was watching some of the coverage of NYE parties across the US and all I could think was jeezuz that looks so tiring, LOL! I actually took a short nap between 10-11 waiting for DH to come home. Wake me up for food, I guess! Now that makes me feel old hah. I went to the store earlier with the kids and got some apps and drinks and set up the living room nicely with candles and blankets. It was delicious and I got very drunk. This morning I felt like I had an axe through my head but some Motrin and tea/coffee cleared that up right away.
dizzycooks, those cupcakes and trays look gorgeous! You're so talented. Hope the party was fun! tinydancer, ugh sorry the fireworks were disruptive, I doubt they were doing it bc you are a bad neighbor! kcrkcs, when DS was doing his 2 hour stretches it was either because of teeth, coughing, or hunger. Definitely not an issue with your mom'ing skills. I hope she turns a corner soon. NellieOleson, so sorry for the lack of sleep but I'm glad YH was able to help. Thankful for you too, lovely lady! scorpioscuba, sure looks magical but you are so right...different story if you have to live in it! Dinner sounds amazing! crimsonandclover, glad the party was relatively sane, I always wonder what NYE looks like in other parts of the world! silverspoon, I don't do thank you cards for christmas either, only G2G or other celebrations where we have people over.

I was going to say I do thank you cards when the gift giving is not mutual like at showers and weddings. But I guess I don't do them for birthdays, either... I've never gotten any here from anyone for birthdays so I don't feel obligated.
