Anyone else feeling the excesses of Christmas weekend today? I am and we're not even done yet.
Final installment is this morning when we'll go to my ILs' house for breakfast and gift opening. Wish me luck. I barely got any sleep and feel hungover. I did have some drinks yesterday but pretty sure it's just the tough night that's hurting me right now!
Good luck at your final Christmas festivities today dashook!
Last night I hit a wall around 10:30 and passed out hard. Luckily Lilah slept until 6:30! I still felt like I needed another 8 hours, but I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm up, dressed, and fed.
We looked at the Pilot yesterday and while I think we could make it work, we are going to drive some other cars with more cargo space this morning. Lillian is going to my mom's house for a bit while we go do that. The rest of the day will be spent cleaning and organizing our house.

I feel like I've hardly been home all week but I think today will actually be our home day. H has to do some final touches on the bathroom before the glass installation and I have to clean up the Christmas mess. My sister wants us to come over and as good as moms cooking sounds, I really don't want to leave the house today.
C has been getting so fun lately with all his smiles but he still gets so crabby when he's trying to poop all day. And omg, he just ate 6oz! He was SCREAMING after 4oz and finished the second bottle we made. His feedings are so unpredictable. Sometimes he only eats an ounce, other times it's this. I'm jealous of everyone with babies sleeping through the night. We're still only getting 4 hour stretches. I know it could be worse though so I'm trying not to complain.
And unfortunately I think I'm coming down with a cold. I have a sore throat and runny nose going right now. I don't want to give it to C but how do I avoid that?

My eyes are on fire. Two broken up hours of sleep. She did fall back to sleep after H left at 6, but it was a restless thrashing around because she's congested that I couldn't sleep through.
I can't even sit and relax because queen baby has recently declared that she prefers I walk in circles for hours.
For those of you that are getting these long sleep stretches, I need to know your secrets. Are you swaddling, are they in swings/rocknplays/cribs? Do they have pacifiers?
Are you sure you want to know? She sleeps on me. We are transitioning away from it with last night being the first night. She slept 4 hrs + 2 + 2. Also mine are formula fed and I thought I'd heard that makes for longer sleep stretches? At first sleeping on me was the only way she'd sleep around the witching hours. I think bc of reflux ? But now I've had luck putting her down when she's sleeping about an hour after her 7/8:00 feeding. That's her long stretch and she's usually out cold.

I'm so sorry, honey. I can't remember if you've said if you tried a wrap or carrier with her. H fights it a t first & then will pass out in it.
Lost a chunk of hair yesterday because I thought if I could just keep walking and swaying with her in the Tula she'd eventually relax. Nope. I have a moby I haven't tried yet though.
I am currently in the car waiting for H as he ran into the Town parks and rec dept for our new beach stickers. As much as I wish that was actually so that we could go to the beach, it's for access to the towns recycling/refuse plants also.
We had a good night and productive morning so far. Hit DMV so H could register his new-old car. Of course we waited in the car bc our DMV is dissssgusting and crawling with germs/close quarters. Then we went to TJ Maxx for another doggy bed, dish towels, and more clothes hangers. We have to hit trader joes to pick up chicken for the dog - damn dog eats better than me.
My niece (19yrs old) is coming over later to take some of my maternity clothes as she's currently 29 weeks pregnant. Do not "approve"/condone BUT I still want to help her out where I could. So I have to organize what I'm willing to part with lol. Ya know, just in case I get KU again soon lol. All that sex we've been having ya know.

kleigh, try to control those raging hormones. You know how these kids are made right!

So last night sucked but in general she is giving us 5-7 hours for her first stretch. She is swaddled (very tight) and goes down in a RNP. Very dark, and we use white noise. I feed her, then do pjs, then swaddle, put on the noise machine, and rock her to sleep. I will sometimes give her a pacifier while rocking if she wants it but she never falls asleep with it.
goldenlove3 Wash your hands a lot & try not to sneeze or cough on them. M, MH & I are still getting over our colds from a couple weeks ago. So far (knock on wood) H hasn't gotten it.
This. @goldenlove our whole household got sick the week we brought C home, but thankfully she stayed healthy.
tgrimes1980. We were getting long stretches until this week. He is swaddled in a swaddle me swaddle and sleeps in a RNP. I also tend to give him a big pause before picking him up. He will squirm and grunt and often if I wait he settles back down. I think the latter is big long term for sleep habits, the rest is baby dependant
tgrimes1980 we've been getting a five hour stretch out of C most nights, followed by one that's 3-4. We started giving her a formula bottle for her last feed of the night (around 10) and that seems to be helping. I think it just sticks with her longer than breast milk. Can't remember if you're FF or BF, sorry. #mombrain Also, we swaddle, I keep the ceiling fan on low, and keep a humidifier running that projects pictures of sealife onto the ceiling, lol. She seems to be much better at self-soothing than B was; I typically put her down 'asleep' and her eyes immediately pop open, but she'll lie there in her crib, waving her arms and watching the sea creatures for a few minutes, until she passes out again. B would *never* have done that, and I would have run in at the first little noise. That may just be dumb luck/C's personality, though.
So this morning I plopped C in MIl's arms and hid upstairs in my room in hopes that distance would make him more amendable to other people's snuggles. He screamed and screamed and then fell asleep. Ugh. Killer to listen to but crossing my fingers it gets easier. I don't mind being the baby holder 90% of the time but 100% is stressful.

Hey all. We are still recovering from colds over here. DS1 is finally turning the corner and DS2 is congested but no fever. So lots of snot suctioning at my house!
sophiegrace - I'm sorry this has been so rough. DS2 isn't a fussy baby but he's not giving me great stretches of sleep yet either. Usually about 2.5-3 hours with the occasional 4 hour stretch that feels like heaven. I learned with DS1 to just try to roll with sleep until they are old enough to sleep train (if you believe if that). I tried everything in the book with him but he just didn't sleep long stretches until about 4-5 months. And then one day he did. Just like that- didn't change a damn thing he just got older. Some babies rock at sleeping but that hasn't been my experience with either boy unfortunately.
cheshie6 - awesome news about the weight gain. Hooray!
AFM - have my 6 week PP tomorrow. I did end up starting back on a med for postpartum depression/anxiety and it seems to be helping some. I haven't been on this for three years and the last 2 weeks I am starting to feel like "myself" again. Can't wait to get the all clear to actually work out. Ready to start feeling better physically as well.
sophiegrace bless your heart, I wish I was there to help you. Sending you virtual coffee and wine, and alll the sleep vibes to M.
ETA: how does she do in the car? Could you take her out for a drive and see if that would knock her out? We always had good luck with that with DS when he was a baby. It seems to work for C, too. Then I'd just park in the driveway with the car running and have a coffee or shut my eyes for a few minutes while the baby slept. Also, not sure what your weather is like, but fresh air and sunshine seem to help C, too.

Hi all!
tgrimes1980 N just gave me her first long stretch. We do RNP, miracle blanket, white noise.
I am stressing that I haven't done N's one month pic, but am not at home so I'm trying to figure out if I should do here or wait until home on Saturday since I will want to do the same pose each month. Last time I did 2 poses...Laying on crib and on the recliner, but this time I'm not sure. I have decided to skip the plain onesie and do a favorite outfit for each month. Decisions decisions.
And in vain news, I tried on a new skirt and looked at the back of my legs for the first time, and my crazy patch of spider veins had lightened up! Hallelujah, I can maybe wear shorts again!
OH And I noticed his 3 month sleepers were getting a little snug so I tried a 6 month one on just for fun and it fits. So my 8 week old wear 6 months clothes now. WTF. Im going to go cry now.
This was DS, and I have a feeling it will be DD, as well. Not only is she getting chubby, but she's super long.
As a rule, DS was always roughly double his age in sizes (wore 6 mo size at 3 months old, and so on). 😥
For those that swaddle at night, are you swaddling for naps, too? I haven't been but I'm wondering if I should.
I haven't been but only because of the whole trying to get his days and nights figured out. Since it was recommended to do the swaddle, dark room, noise machine for the night time routine, I have it in my head that swaddle is for night. I have no idea if that makes sense though and I've thought about trying it for naps too since his naps are so short.

I try to do it only at night but I have broken down a few times and used one during the day when she was clearly tired but just wasn't letting herself fall asleep.
