Baby girl just had her 2 month check yesterday. Boo shots:(
Weight (percentile): 11 lbs 11 ounces 55th % Height (percentile): 22.5 inches 44th % Head (percentile): 37.7 cm 27th % Clothing Size: solidly in 3 month. Diaper Size: 1 moving into 2
Likes/Dislikes this month: Loves bath time, getting lots of attention and sitting in her little baby chair. hates very much to be cold or be held when she is ticked off.
Questions/Concerns/A Ws : She is such a sweet baby and has been pretty easy. Can't believe I go back to work in less then 3 weeks.
Overall the doctors went well. We didn't see our normal pedi because she was out so just saw a NP, and she pointed out that A has almost a Y shaped butt crack. She said 9 times out of 10 it's just a cosmetic variant. But there is a slim possibility that it means she has a tethered spinal cord. So basically the cord fused to tissue or something and they would need to go in and remove the fused tissue. And so she said she'll have our doctor look at it at 4 months and see if she wants to refer us to have an MRI done of it. Man also something to worry about wou these babes. Our normal doc did point out the shape at our 2 week check but said nothing of it further. So am curious to get her input.

Clothing size: 3-6/6 months, eyeing up some 6-9 pants
Diaper size: 2

Dislikes: being held by not Mom, everything and anything when in a bad mood or not feeling well, bottles, barking dogs
Questions/concerns/AWs: She's on nexium now along with Zantac, I really just want her to be happy and not in pain or constantly choking.
Weight (percentile): 8lb 11oz (10th) Height (percentile): 23.5 in (90th) Head (percentile): don't remember Clothing Size: Newborn Diaper Size: Newborn Likes/Dislikes this month : Likes bath time (esp in the real tub with mommy where she can float her body for a few minutes), womb white noise, being held, mommy doing the dishes, staring at ceiling lights, the light up toys that make noise on the bouncer (up to 5-7 min), mornings! - we get smiles in the mornings - she responds to my smiles and kisses with her own smiles, walks, lifting her head up, eating her fists. Dislikes anyone but mom holding her, the taste of her fists, new formula she was put on, missing a nap, spitting up, Swaddles, both babies seem to not are for being held by MIL (lol). Questions/Concerns/AW : I wish I could get smiles all day long, but they start disappearing before noon once the reflux gets going. AW 2 mo picture below :-)

Weight (percentile): 10lb 10oz (32% WHO) Height (percentile): 22.6" (57%) Head (percentile): 15.2" (62%) Clothing Size: 0-3, 3-6m onesies sometimes but they clearly have room. Diaper Size: 1 Likes/Dislikes this month: likes- mommy, being held, walks in the carrier, eating, smiles, watching people. Dislikes- baths, diaper changes, being set down for more than a few minutes (unless she's sleepy), tummy time 80% of the time Questions/Concerns/AWs: Her weight gain wasn't great. But everything else looks great and she's very happy and strong. I think it might be allergy meds I'm taking affecting my supply. Could also be reflux. Dr prescribed prilosec. I'm going to call tomorrow to ask if it is more likely the allergy meds before starting her on a medication since that's all that's changed since her last appointment 3 weeks ago where she was gaining almost 1oz a day. Lillian also fell off her curve, but more gradually and between 4 and 6 months so this is more concerning.

ClassyMrsA I think it's smart to check about your prescription first since that's changed in the past few weeks. Hoping thats the cause and nothing more.

ClassyMrsA I second tallblonde. I have no choice but to take my allergy meds so I've been on them since pregnancy which allowed my milk to establish itself with it in my body. Multiple LCs and my allergist warned me that adding a new allergy medication (which I'll have to in the spring) will dip an already established supply for awhile.
ETA: multiple hugs, I'm sorry you have to worry about this

tallblonde and sophiegrace I called this morning and they said absolutely it could be the allergy medicine. But they want us to go ahead with the reflux meds too. If it doesn't help with the amount she spits up, we can stop using it. That's their main concern since she's otherwise happy. The nurse congratulated me on my good detective work. Lol.

I hope it helps! M's on nexium which is also a PPI after being on Zantac for five weeks. Knocking on all the wood I think I'm seeing a different baby because of it.
ClassyMrsA and sophiegrace Do you have a way of quantifying how much spitting up L and M are doing? After talking to the dr, we stopped Addy's new formula because she was refusing to eat and she's already so tiny that we can't risk that. She's still on the Zantac but she's suddenly spitting up so much - she never used to. But I'm hoping it's just normal baby spit up.

Take a tablespoon of water and toss it on a sheet or dribble it down your shirt. That can give you an idea of how big a wet spot that much liquid makes. You can try it with a teaspoon, too. That can help to understand quantity. Then, track how often it is. Is it once after every feed? Every other one? Multiple times after one feed but maybe only a few times a day? Together, you should be able to make an estimate of how much she's actually spitting up. And you have the added benefit of knowing how much she's eating to begin with. Hope that helps.
Eta: keep in mind it's not all milk. It's also saliva and stomach acid.
I'm not much help kleigh. M's reflux is 100% silent. I'm so sorry. What was the formula they tried switching to? Neocate?
Well the Similac equivalent of Nutramagen which is Allimentum. But he gave us 3 buckets of nutramagen bc they had samples so I started with that - I guess it's non cows milk, hypoallergenic

So possibly an intolerance issue? Ugh, I'm so sorry. That has to be extremely stressful.

wait til you get a whif of nutrimagen! Yuckkkkkk!
Omg already have. It is the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled - I don't blame her for not wanting to eat it, I wouldn't eat it either

So he suspected reflux previously but after her 2 mo checkup when he saw she had actually lost a couple oz even on the Zantac he wanted to treat her for cows milk intolerance also, just in case. She's already so little, she really can't be losing any weight. The problems started with the choking early on, now she doesn't like to eat a lot (she starts with 4 oz first thing in the morning - Alec takes 5- 6 oz every feeding- and she decreases from there, down to about one oz at "bedtime"), screams and cries at feedings, spits up more than an hour after eating, has these "repetitive wet burp" episodes (like a five minute episode where she just does these wet sounding soft burps where she's regurgitating food up and down, up and down). But now he's second guessing reflux or intolerance (as am I) because it's not like this in the morning, it happens as the day progresses to afternoon and then nighttime. She's weaned herself off eating past 6/7pm and prefers to just start her bedtime then. She sleeps through to 4/5am but I'm going to ask the dr about waking her to eat because that's 10 solid hours that she's not eating. I don't know what to do, maybe she just doesn't care for eating - one of those babies/people that does it out f necessity but not motivated by food (??)

That sounds really rough kleigh. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. The only thought I had was maybe it's better in the morning because she's had a break from food for 10 hours so she's feeling better? I don't let Lilah sleep more than 8 hours without eating. If we get there, I'll let her "dream feed". Usually she wakes up after 6 hours or so to eat, though. I know people who eat to live, but they still eat a typical amount of food. I hope you get some answers and figure out how to get her the calories/nutrients she needs.
Thank you waitwhat and ClassyMrsA ! I have no problem waking her to feed anyway. Their next appt is scheduled for 4 months (March) but the DR said to call and make another one for her to be reviewed in a week or two.

kleigh M's reflux always got progressively worse as the day went on, too. She'd wake up happy as can be and by dinner time she would be inconsolable. I think because nighttime was the biggest stretch she had to give her throat a break. And that was every two hours opposed to the every 1-1.5 hours she would eat during the day. She treats food the complete opposite though and wants to eat non stop because it helped soothe the pain from all the acid backing up. I've heard that it's usually the way AV handles it though. Associating feeding with the pain. Poor thing.
Maybe while the Pedi throws some ideas around ask to start a PPI? I have a different baby. We didn't have a few good hours like we've gotten used to we had a good WEEK. I'm tired from having a baby who wants to play for five hours straight instead of being tired from a baby who scream eats all day long.
This might be forward and I hope it doesn't come off weird, but if the idea of a milk protein intolerance keeps coming up and she's still refusing the formula I am more than willing to mail the extra dairy/soy free BM I have pumped. I don't get much, but maybe it's sweet enough to take the edge off of whatever they switch her to if they do.
Omg sophiegrace you made me cry. That is not too forward at all. I have dealt with so much regret for not being able to keep up with BFing and to know that you would do that means so so so much to me.
I haven't pushed as much because (a) I don't want to seem like I'm, I don't know, creating a problem or an over worrier etc and (b) because the doctor (who I actually like a lot) seems to take a very laid back approach (like my sisters dr sent her son for testing to confirm it).
That said, I didn't realize that AVs symptom of refusing food later in the day was common. She's fussing on me now as I write bc she just ate a little.
So Im going to start with along the dr office on Tuesday for an appt / I want to check her weight and ask about a PPI and ask his thoughts on what else this could be if not reflux or an intolerance.
Weight: 10#13 (42%) Height: 23 in (72%) Head: 15 in (41%) Clothing size: 0-3, although she's probably tall enough for some 3-6 now Diaper size: 2 Likes: nursing, cooing, trying to eat her fist, looking at her sister Dislikes: not nursing, being put down, sleeping anywhere other than on me, when E tries to hug her or kiss her face Questions/concerns/AWs: not a lot but I am so happy that her head is catching up! It was 6th%ile at birth, which freaked me out especially since E has always been 97th for her head. So I'm happy with 41%!

O just had his 2 month visit today. Somehow he got a week behind... guess I wasn't paying attention when things were scheduled.

It's getting worse! Which she said will happen until he's 4 months. But she said since he's gaining weight fine and he's not constantly in pain there wasn't anything we can do about it. I don't like that answer.

cookswithwine9 My understanding is that most of the time reflux doesn't need to be treated unless it's causing pain, poor growth, or other issues. Both of my girls spit up a lot. Like going through multiple outfits a day. But it never bothered Lillian and it's not bothering Lilah. One thing about the reflux meds is that over time, they can lead to poor absorption of iron and calcium. There is also evidence they can increase the risk of gastrointestinal infections and respiratory infections. If he's not upset and is thriving, then it really is best to leave it alone. If he is in pain, I'd push for something or ask why she doesn't want to treat it. You can try holding upright for 30 minutes or some of the other recommendations, but my experience is that there really isn't much to do except wait.

Thanks ClassyMrsA & waitwhat, I guess I just need to chill but it's hard when you want to help them. The most frustrating thing is his choking. He chokes on the breast and the bottle (doesn't matter what bottle, I have tried a lot.) Plus the constant congestion, both are symptoms of reflux.

Lilah chokes, but it's from a fast let down. It is frustrating and upsetting to see when they have reflux issues. Like I said, if you think it's causing him distress or discomfort, talk to the dr about those concerns and find out why she doesn't want to treat it. It either will get him relief if he needs it or give you peace of mind while he outgrows it.
At long last...C had her 2 month check-up (roughly 2 weeks late)
