For Valentines day, DH is going to get me something with the dictator's birthstone on it. I have to pick it out, but I'm thinking a necklace with a garnet on it.
It's cold with a chance for snow today. I'm a little excited for this and am hoping we actually get a little. We haven't had a good snow this year and there's just something about sitting with a cup of cocoa and watching the snow fall. It'll also be a good reason not to go anywhere but my couch and get my thank yous done and birth announcements ready to mail.
Varsity parenting moment this morning. DS was a terrible sleeper last night. Fed and changed him around 4:30 (again) and he was awake again by 5:50. I was not impressed, and rocked him back to sleep. He wakes up again around 6:30 and I give up and decide to change and feed him. What do I find in his diaper, but the wipe I used when I changed him the last time. I don't even know how that happened. Poor baby must have been pretty uncomfortable.
On the plus side, I have to have scored points with DH. I told him I'd take the toddler's wake ups through the night. Toddler didn't wake up! I still get credit for being an awesome wife.
Wigglet slept from 8p-6:30a today with only two wake ups! Yay sleep!
I don't wear bracelets or necklaces (thanks DD), but ring me! I found a ring on etsy and you can do a single stone in the band (stacking I think) or a double stone. I got 2 (Sept and Dec). I love it!!

I don't wear any jewelry other than my engagement ring due to work and the very likely possibility of having it get contaminated and losing it for who knows how long (dependent on the isotope...). It'd be more of a special occasion jewelry for me.

Last night was wonderful, I have to brag a little My parents watched LO while we went out on a date. DH surprised me with reservations at a cute downtown restaurant and we walked to a local brewery for drinks afterwards. We put away the technology and enjoyed hanging out and talking with just the two of us. We agreed to do this twice a month to help us stay connected as a couple (my parents love to babysit). It even snowed on us just a little while we were walking around to make things more romantic!! No sexy time, but lots of sleep, so maybe today! LO slept from 1030 to 530 with only one wakeup! I'm up with him now letting DH sleep in and later today he said he is taking me for another V day weekend surprise
megan81112, Clearly not savvy enough to read the posts just slightly above hers...LOL! Wow, just wow. I understand working 12hr shifts but I don't understand how that made her unable to read all the other posts before hers...Darwin, do your job damn it!
Edit/PS - Loved your comment that caused her temper tantrum.

For only being 2 weeks, LO has been sleeping so good! Slept from 10 til 830 and only woke up twice to eat and change. I'm crossing my fingers he keeps this up!!

I had to edit my comments that lead the way. Of all the comments she decided to read it was the one I wrote while atop my high horse.

Arlo got tons of blankets before he was born, all very nice ones, and SO insists on bringing out his big baby blanket from the 80's for the babe to use... I'm like, but we have all of these beautiful and new blankets that are much softer- plus his isn't cute (anymore). I was ranting to my mom about it yesterday while she was here, and she was all "aww, that's so cute, here- act like you used it today" and started unfolding it and putting it on the couch..

LO got a bath and while he was laying on the baby scale (9 lbs 13.5 oz!) he proceeded to pee like a little fountain all over himself and the counter. He didn't cry or anything - just kinda looked around like "Oh more warm water. No big deal!" And then he got another bath.
DH took a MOTN feeding for the first time in 4 weeks (since he went back to work) I still woke up during that time and couldn't fall back to sleep till he came back to bed and I knew LO was sleeping but still it was nice.

Mourning my pre-baby life a little bit today. Just found out Rusted Root and The Wailers are playing a show here Thursday and I would love to go but I'm pretty sure my mom can't watch her that night. I miss spontaneity... and concerts.

Yesterday, I finally broke the nursing-in-public mental barrier I had. It was not at all traumatic, thankfully.
I thought I had a rough night--trouble falling asleep from pain after the first feeding and itchy stitches after the second. And then when I was up for his first daylight feeding, I saw an ambulance in our neighbour's yard with lights flashing and one of the paramedics heading into the home with a body board (or whatever they're called), and suddenly I had some perspective.

I'm a ring person I've been searching for something for a long time. I think this is the one.

LO has slept so good these last 3 nights. It's been great. I'm getting a little scared as we approach the 6 week mark and the dreaded growth spurt.
We are attempting to go to church again this morning. Hopefully we make it through the service and I don't have to go to the nursing room again. At least they have a TV there of a live feed of the sanctuary.

I'm so grateful my church doesn't HAVE a nursing room. They can't kick us out. Actually, that's where I was when I broke the nursing in public barrier.
This probably falls into the UO category but I think that the birthstone for January is one of if not the ugliest birthstones... I have always thought this since it's also my birthstone.
This may be a tmi but I'm just gonna go with it. Today I'm 6 weeks pp from a c-section. We were given the ok to dtd at 5 weeks so we did. It was very uncomfortable for me but I thought maybe it was just because it had been awhile (it had been like 8 weeks total). Well we tried again at 6 weeks and it was almost worse. Anyway, I used to love sex, I sure hope it feels good again some day.
LO got a bath and while he was laying on the baby scale (9 lbs 13.5 oz!) he proceeded to pee like a little fountain all over himself and the counter. He didn't cry or anything - just kinda looked around like "Oh more warm water. No big deal!" And then he got another bath.
My lo did that this morning while we were changing him. I was getting ready to put his new diaper on and he kicked off the wipe covering him. It was like a geyser. He didn't get any on him bit it was all over the wall and the dresser. While I was cleaning him up he proceeded to poop all over and pee again. H and I were helpless with laughter.
