ugaqueencity if you get insurance through an employer (or your spouse's), most likely, you'll need to call that benefit center to get them added. Also, if that is the case, i would call ahead of time to see what they need for documentation.
With DS1, it was literally a phone call to give DOB and birth location. This time around, I need to submit his footprints along with a specific form and have 2ish months to supply the social security card and birth certificate.
The baby generally needs to be added within 30 days and should be backdated with coverage starting at DOB
Also, I haven't officially told my insurance about the pregnancy yet. I'm 16 weeks. Do I need to?
I didn't know I was supposed to do this either. Won't they figure it out when your doctor starts submitting claims?
They'll figure it out. If the claims don't do it, your provider most likely will for when they try to bill you for prepayment
You may need to call and see what they need re: hospital admittance. My old insurance allowed my OB to submit the paperwork within 48 hours of admittance. This time, I get to have my H call in route to the hospital.
I'm not sure what it's like now, but when I ordered a pump with my last pregnancy I didn't have to talk to insurance at all. I just ordered it through medela's website and provided all my insurance info and they called later to confirm things.
I think it's different based on provider, but I have to get a prescription from my doctor and go through an in network medical supply company
marshian , I would call your insurance first just to be certain. Mine would deny the claim if I didn't get it through a medical supply company. I never officially let them know I was pregnant, I just kind of assumed they'd figure it out based on all the doctors appointments, u/s, etc. I should probably figure out what I need to do to add the baby to our insurance once she's here though
I also have to get a prescription, then I buy the pump from an approved retailer (which includes Target in my case) and am then reimbursed.
Daycare tour was great. I really like them. But man, why does it have to be so expensive? Rhetorical question because especially in this case you get tons of good things for the money, but ouch.
What stores allow you to try our car seats in your own car to be sure you can get a good install and they fit?
Also, any recommendations on a convertible car seat which is good for extended rear-facing and also travel? I'm currently perusing Car Seats For the Littles but love recommendations from people who have used one for a while.
I'm pretty sure both BRU and BBB allow you try out seats in your car but I'd just double check when you get there to make sure our even call ahead so you don't waste a trip.
Guys. I totally didn't dress myself properly today.
It's super cold here, so for whatever reason this morning I put on full-panel maternity leggings, a camisole, a long-sleeved top, a poncho, an infinity scarf, and Hunter boots and fleece boot socks. I didn't wear a coat because it wouldn't fit over my poncho.
So outside I was FREEZING, and inside I'm dying and keep taking my clothes off. I've already lost the scarf and the boots/socks because I was so hot it was giving me a headache. I want to go home...I need a re-do of my wardrobe choices today! So uncomfortable.

I really hate when office buildings crank the heat in winter. You dress to not freeze outside, then you're sweating inside! There has to be a happy medium.

OB appointment this morning, we have potential c-section dates of Jan 16-18. Beginning of my 39th week.
I guess with my insulin/GD management they don't want me going over 39&2. VBAC is still on the table but my cervix is high and closed so it's not looking favorable.
Looks like my parents will need to move their flights up! They are scheduled for the 19th right now.
Good thing leave started today, I have a list of things to do!

It's usually cold in my office, so I tend to dress warmly, but whatever hellish combo of boot socks + poncho + infinity scarf is making my body seriously overheat. Or maybe I'm just cranky and ready to go home!

Wait, what? I can't just show up at the hospital for birth and be all like, I'm here?!
It depends on your insurance. I mean, you obviously can no matter what, but your insurance can slam you with a "no prior authorization" fee (or whatever they call it). Our fee is $500 just for that so...

Most hospitals have a preadmittance procedure. You can show up, but it's easier if you're already in the system.
My hospital allows to pre-register after 20 weeks online. Your doctor will likely know so you can always ask at your next appointment.
