Oh, great top o' the page. Especially without context.
Laughing. But a clown?
Maybe something slightly different than a clown can make balloon animals. Like a non-creepy dude dressed in a plushie outfit. Person dressed as animal!
I definitely started laughing when I read the thread title, but you guys are soooo cute about this that I'm totally on board! It WOULD be nice not to have it sneak up on me.
We've done parties for DD, but just at our house for the first two years (she got her favorite play place at 3). They were all super hectic and quickly planned for various reasons, but I'm glad we did them.

I was just thinking about this! I'm torn between wanting a big party to celebrate that we made it and being too tired to plan something... regardless there will be lots of cake!!

sandandsea is in my area so we can maybe share the balloon lady or maybe have our parties the same day and fight over her and bring the whole board to civil war
I went over the top for DS' 1st birthday party, we also had like 50 people at our house. I told myself I wouldn't do it again, and I had a huge birthday party for him at our house for his 2nd birthday. t've been thinking about it, and even though I enjoy party planning, I don't think I am going to do it for DD. I am going to throw a party for DH for his 30th birthday, and probably just do a photo shoot for DD and maybe have the few family members that live in town (DH's brother and the in laws) over for dinner.

This thread is cracking me up. I'm imagining ArgyleEnigma having a serial killer masquerading as a balloon animal guy show up at her DS's birthday party. And then I'm imagining ArgyleEnigma and sandandsea getting into a fist fight. Clowns AND plushies are BOTH creepy.

This thread makes me SO happy!!!! L's cousin just turned one and it really freaked me out because I feel like I blinked after she was born and then L was born. I'm going to blink and my baby will be one!
So obviously I've been pinning. I feel like 6/14 is a nice summery birthday so hers will be watermelon themed. Just our family and a few friends.

Late to the thread, but I totally have been planning her party (via Pinterest) for a while. She's 8m this week so it's going to be here before I know it! I am planning a Snow White theme and am planning to hold it at the parish hall at our church. Which reminds me I have to reserve that... anyway, I have about 5 billion people that I need to invite since this crazy rainbow baby was quite anticipated by many and I don't want to miss anyone.

Watermelon is such a cute theme, I love it! It instantly reminded me of this:
I haven't thought much about a party other than I'm planning to have one until this thread. I need to get on a roll. Here's my issue....
For DD1 we had a big party at my parent's house. There were like 60 or more people there. The thing is we don't live there and my whole family does so it was a chance to get to see her and they didn't get to do that very often. My parents got a tent for the back yard (and it was cold that day so it was nice) and we had it catered. I did a twinkle twinkle little star theme which I LOVED!! She had the best cake ever (smash and regular) because an old friend's mom makes amazing cakes. I ordered a sheet cake and she said I hope you don't mind I made this 2 tiered amazing cake instead. I did most of the planning and my mom executed (since I didn't live there). Then halfway through the party a truck shows up with a freakin PONY! My parents surprised us. It was always a big joke that they do everything so over the top she'd probably have a pony. And she did. So well yeah that's going to be hard to top....
Then my in-laws wanted a party with that side of the family. My MIL is all bossy though so I basically let her plan it. I used a bunch of the same decorations but she picked the cake and got DD1 a smash cupcake. She ordered the food and it was just family and close friends (but still like 25 people).
Then my nanny was like she has this little group of friends and nannies and we need to have a party for her on her real birthday. DH and I took the day off work anyway so we met up with all the nannies and kids at the local carousel and brought little cupcakes. It was super duper low key and we paid for the 4 kids to ride the carousel a few times.
ArgyleEnigma, I love clowns! DH is afraid of them. One of my best birthday memories is from my 4th birthday party when my mom got a clown who performed magic tricks and made balloon animals. I told DH that I wanted to get a clown for DD someday, but he is firmly against it.
Wow, definitely have not been thinking about this! If I plan anything, it'll probably be a quiet family dinner with a cake. If my mom decides to do something it will probably be a 140 person gala because she's crazy about party planning.
Alright you ladies have me Pinterest searching for theme ideas. Because we have June summer babies, what about "you are my sunshine" theme? Too girly for a boy summer picnic theme? Another one I saw was "Mr. Onederful" and do a black tie party... a little much but I still like it. We live two blocks from the lake and access to a sand and picnic area so my last idea is a beach ball party theme. What's your vote?

mladerri, the sunshine or beach ball themes would get my vote, simply because it's summer. They'd be SO cute. No way "you are my sunshine" is too girly!
My baby got his first birthday party invitation today, it is for a friend of his from a mom's group we are in who is a few months older. So it begins. This kid is going to have such a social life.
