Snow showers here but we aren't getting slammed like Virginia/NC. Pregsomnia was a bitch last night and I'm so tired. We have my nephew's birthday party today so I need to power through.

We got some snow yesterday too! My manager called me last night and told me I didn't need to come in today and she'll schedule me for a Saturday in a couple weeks. I don't think the roads are too bad, but people just do not know how to drive down here so it's probably best.
Not much going on today. We need to go grocery shopping and will probably go to the gym. Right now we are watching Harry Potter (on movie #5 right now) and waiting for coffee to be done.

We sold our headboard finally on Thursday night and someone is supposed to come get the couch on Tuesday. I'm really hoping they show up because we are still getting inquiries about it. After that I don't think we have anything left to sell. At least until we have $ to replace some furniture. Our living room couches look like 80's hotel couches. They are functional, but not very comfy and definitely not pleasing to the eye. Cannot wait to place them.
We are home this weekend for the first time in a long while and we don't have a whole lot planned, just some chores we've been putting off. We might go watch a movie.
We found out last night that our friends had a successful FET cycle but that she had some significant bleeding at 5 weeks. The ultrasound looked good (one embryo out of two they transferred) but they are anxiously waiting for their next ultrasound after 6 weeks to see the heartbeat. I am so hoping this works out for them, they have been trying for so long and have been through it all. We are trying to plan some fun things to do with them this week to help pass the time.

We're supposed to get rain this afternoon when the cold front moves through so I need to make a run to Target this morning to get my Diclegis and go grocery shopping. Then hopefully we'll get started on clearing out the future nursery. We also finally got the rails to finish DD's bed so we need to put that together, too.
I was supposed to go in to work today but that got postponed to tomorrow. So lunch with DH, probably grocery shopping and hopefully working on finishing cleaning out the nursery closet.
Last night I got pre-registered at the hospital and signed up for the hospital birth class/hospital tour!
sleepymonkey same here! I can feel the baby kick from the outside a lot but when MH is around the baby is just happy kicking at my bladder and not outward lol
Good luck to your friends PirateCat! H felt the baby for the first time yesterday. He was excited, but also said it was weird and is kind of freaked out ha.
We are snowed in—7 inches here, which we haven't seen the likes of since we moved here over three years ago. It's fine, though, H is building a fire and my mom and I are going to make vegan oreo cheesecake
Also, a mini rant: H has been promising to sign us up for a birth class and a CPR class at the hospital (we're doing a class at a more hippy place too but I want to know what the hospital is like) and still hasn't. I am getting irritated, but I have done everything else as far as baby prep and he asked for tasks.
How long do babies typically stay in infant car seats? I have one in mind but after looking at our finances I'm wondering if I should get a cheaper one, especially for something we will only use for a limited time. It's supposed to be very easy to install without the base so I think we only need the one between the two cars (and we will almost never need it in the second car anyway) so that's something...

My son stayed in his infant seat until 6 months. He was so heavy and my seat was heavy so it was too much!
Check the height and weight limit on the seat you're looking at. I have friends whose babies fit in their seats until close to 10 months.

That is going to be a personal choice mostly. Infant seats have some perks, like being able to keep a sleeping baby in the seat while moving then in and out of the car, but as they get bigger that gets heavy to lug around. If you want to not have a second car seat investment you can get a convertible seat that is good from 8# and up (I think some go smaller) and would last your kid 2-3 years.
I was told that any car seat marketed in the US has to meet certain safety standards, so buying a "cheap" seat isn't something you should feel guilty about. The more you spend the more features you can get.
Our convertible seat was ~$120, and it has been great for us. We move it between vehicles pretty easily (have a car seat tech teach you how to install and to check for proper install).
Car seat safety is a hill for me - I don't always know when to shut up

My son was in his until about 10 months. He probably could have lasted another month but we were going on a long road trip and I thought he'd be more comfortable in a convertible so we made the switch then! I definitely got tired of lugging the infant seat around way before 10 months though haha!
We are expecting at least 8 inches today so DS and I were out and about early getting all of our errands done before it hits. Home now and snuggled up watching Finding Dory while DH installs our new dishwasher (yay!) It's probably only been snowing for 2 hours now and by the looks of it we already have 2-3 inches. We'll see how accurate the predictions add!
Today we need to get some chores done. Our house is a mess. We'll see how well that goes.
Tomorrow we're supposed to do IL Christmas. It's turning into a shit show though because nobody mentioned BIL was working till 5pm so all our plans need to be rearranged.
Thanks guys! The one I want (Cybex Alton) is good up to 30" (I don't remember the weight limit but I heard they usually outgrow in height before weight). I have also heard that cheaper does not mean more expensive but I mostly want this for being compact and lightweight, ease of installing without base, etc., so more for convenience. Being able to bring the infant car seat in and out of the car is definitely appealing over going with the convertible from the beginning - is it a huge pain to just get the baby in and out of the infant car seat without removing the car seat from the car after the baby gets heavier?
MH can't wait to feel the baby. I have felt him from the outside a few times but every time I go to get MH to have him feel, the little stinker stops.
I'm having this same issue!
I just started feeling movement this week. Or what I think is movement, as everyone said it feels like gas/butterflies at first.
We were only supposed to get a couple inches of snow here today, and we were just upgraded to 4-8! I love snow, so the more, the better.
I had a some panic set in this week when I realized I have 17 weeks to go. I feel like there is so much to do and the time is going to fly. Nursery clean out and set up, replacing my husband's car, and redoing the upstairs bathroom are the big ones. There's plenty of small things as well.
PirateCat, we're doing the infant seat, but just getting one for the two cars, and getting two bases. We're using it before the convertible based on what I read at Lucie's List. But I don't think it matters too much either way.

We switched at 9 months but he was below the limits until 15ish months. He just got too heavy for me to keep using it. You pay for the convenience of them because when baby falls asleep, you just pop out the seat and off you go
Also, not all babies tolerate the infant seats well and get moved to convertibles sooner. It's hella convenient having the bases though. Install one base per car and off you go
PirateCat most convertibles come with an infant insert. That's what we used with DD. It was more cost effective to do the convertible, especially cuz she's such a peanut that she'll likely be 2+ years old before she hits the weight limit. We got one Grace Click Connect Travel system with an extra base for DH's car. She'll use it till this summer. I carried her around in the seat until about 5 months; once she could sit, she wanted to be in the cart/stroller/etc where she could see.
icedtea let me know how that cheesecake turns out! I eat exclusively vegan desserts b/c I'm dairy free.
Started painting the nursery today! DD helped...it was super cute! ETA pics

So many getting snow today...not us! Its just cold, but not as bad as the last few days. We aren't doing much today. I went to the gym this morning. Otherwise, its laundry and stuff around the house. Our daycare is doing "all about me" weeks for all the kids and dd is next week so I just had to order pictures to put on a poster board they sent home that I have to decorate and take in Monday. So I will probably be trying to get that done...not thrilled about the homework for me but fun that everything gets to be about dd and her favorites next week =).
In regard to infant seat, really its just convenient. DD was in hers until 9ish months when I just got tired of lugging it around. It was super easy for daycare though since I drop off and either of us pick up. Just left the seat there and we both had bases. She still wouldn't meet the weight limit at 2.5 which was 30 lb...she's a peanut!
