I had a c section 6 weeks ago and attempted to have sex the past two nights and it HURTS big time. I'm wondering why this might be? What's others experience with this? I guess I was wrong in thinking that since I did not deliever vaginally then I would be ok having sex and it would be pain free? Does anyone know how long this could go on for? any tips to make it more comfortable.

Holy cow! I posted this same thing in the ransoms thread! We were given the ok at 5 weeks. Hurt then and today at 6 weeks it hurt more! And if we can get it to not hurt it's just uncomfortable

I know! It's terrible... IM hoping that it will be better soon.... I'm just wondering if anyone else can speak from experience and let us know how long or any tips to make it better.

I'm five weeks PP. We DTD last night for the first time. Had a few drinks, lots of lube and went slow. Feeling fine today. (Not a c-section though, not sure if it makes a difference)
I actually talked to my doc about this out of curiosity (I'm an RN and was wondering why- I haven't had a C section myself). The pain comes from the surgical site. Even though you are partially healed, the surgical pain can persist for several months to a year. The penetration actually irritates the incision site because the uterus is "jostled" during sex. I just read an article on this, but I couldn't find the link. I agree with PP- lube and being relaxed and using caution should help. Speedy healing!
Yes. It hurts. Even though you did not deliver vaginally there was a lot of pressure on your insides and things are out of place. Try lube and patience and if it still hurts talk to your OB. I had to go to a physical therapist last time to get back to normal and I'm not looking forward to this go round.

I only lasted 2 weeks pp. For me there was just a little dryness and using abdominal muscles caused some pain near the incision. We just had to be slow and gentle the first few times.
