Ahhh my old position opened up again. Bad work environment, less than half the pay. 😞I hate that I am seriously considering it because wow. But I need a damn job.
ampaints and redandblue Thanks for checking in on me. I'm getting better, but it's just much slower than I had anticipated. The pain is a lot better but I'm still totally wiped out from dealing with my work day and everything at home. Just trying to make it till the weekend again.
N STTN! He was up at 5:15 and I put him in our bed because I didn't need to be up until 6:15. I have to stop doing that but that extra sleep is needed.
I woke up at 2:30, shocked he hadn't cried yet, and my brain wouldn't shut up about some stuff so I ended up still losing sleep!
We are a mess over here. H was up past 1 working, w woke up every 30 minutes or so last night, and I haven't slept without nightmares in weeks. I'm over the day and it's barely begun.
Today we're headed to my mom's group to do a service project for the homeless (making care packs) and a chapter meeting. Nothing much planned other than that.
packmomma, all the caffeine for you too. That sounds like a great project your mom's group is doing. There's a guy at the church I go to who is leading a project to knit for the homeless that I want to get involved with. (As in I want to get involved with the project, not the guy obviously. Somehow every time I reread the sentence it sounds weird. Obviously I need coffee too.)

tuscanlatte, you can also apply and then continue to look for someone better. I would do this if I was having a hard time finding something in my field or what I'm finding isn't well paid. Something is better than nothing.

skinandbones, that's kind of what I am thinking. It's in my field (hard to find) and I know the deal there. I would have lots of time to do schoolwork there which might be a good enough reason.

tuscanlatte, if it's less money, is it also less work or maybe even less travel? That would also weigh into my decision. Do you think you could also negotiate a higher salary if it was offered? I know my field if really hard to negotiate a higher salary. You may not be able to get back to your normal rate but you may be able to get something a little higher.

tuscanlatte, good luck with the job situation. Everything skinandbones says makes a lot of sense. Apply and negotiate and/or keep looking for better options but have that security.
I was thinking of asking for $15000 over the top range of their salary. The thing is I know they can do it. They came to me with an offer to stay when I quit, but they couldn't match the new salary. But I know there is room. Also they offer an epically low wage for the industry and have a revolving door of beginners as a result. I know I would get the job if I applied. I think my tact would be to go for coffee with the boss and pitch the idea of paying for experience, and the fact that I know how to bring in more projects (ie money) than someone who is just coming in and would be worth the money.
I know a guy who left, and then came back for a lot more money so I have been chatting him up for how that went down.
Good luck tuscanlatte, sounds like you've got a good plan! I'm also team apply. For my current job I interviewed for a lower position (entry level) but was offered a better job with a significantly better salary. Just throwing that out there because you never know what will happen when you interview.
