DH is throwing me for a loop

So, we've been dead set on a boy's name for 8 years now- Michael Louis.

Yesterday waiting for our WTF consult, DH threw me for a loop. He wants to nix Michael as our boy's name and instead use Harold.

I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this. The kid would most likely go by his middle name (Louis/Lou)

So, Harold Louis Lastname. H. Louis Lastname.

Thoughts?

I love love looooove Louis. It would have been our boy name had my husband's mother not been dating a Louis.

Harold Louis is lovely. Is there a significance to Harold or does he just like it? Regardless, it's a strong name.

It's a family name on his side. It was his grandfather's name, and his father's first name (though his dad went by mike, which is why we originally loved Michael)

I'm just personally struggling with it because it's such an old man name to me. I'm picturing little Harold coming out of my vagina wearing a wire rim glasses, a button-down cardigan, and loafers.

+1 for this.  I like Michael so much more than Harold, but I don't hate Harold, and I would like it even more as a middle name instead of the first name.

My husband is a Louis and while it is kind of an old man name, it's an absolute classic name. And remember your son won't be a baby forever I like Louis Harold if you're going to call him Louis anyway.

But if you are going to call him by his MN, it doesn't seem like a big deal.

I like Hal and I like Harold more than Michael just because Michael is a yawn. I really love Louis.

I think that's what I like about it. Adorable baby with a name that seems too "big" for him.

But why not Louis Harold? You wouldn't have to worry about a nickname for Harold. I also hate Harry. But Harold is fine, and Hal. The name sounds good overall though, and at least he won't be 1 of 20 kids with the same name.
