We have DH's fire department holiday party tomorrow night and it'll be the first time I've ever left Hazel for more than an hour. 😳 I'm nervous but definitely looking forward to some adult time and I know she'll be fine at home with her big sisters and their sitter.
The wine walk was a success! Baby slept the entire time, and we bailed on the walking part about halfway through to get an actual good glass of wine at a wine shop. Spent the whole time looking at baby photos while the baby slept in the stroller. 😁
My FIL is coming tomorrow to meet the baby and staying until Monday. Thankfully he's low maintenance and hopefully won't spend the entire time talking about how much the baby looks like my husband and reliving her baby experience through my baby like my MIL did. Ugh, it's so annoying.

We went to toddler time at Sky Jump this morning so DD1 could run around and get some energy out. She is currently sound asleep in her crib so I would say it was successful Nora slept the entire time in her stroller, she is amazing when we are out!
Not doing much of anything this weekend - next weekend is DD1s second birthday and party. We are having her cousins meet us at build a bear for a small party and then all going to my moms for a family birthday after. I'm excited, but can't believe my baby is 2 already.

Hi everyone! Today is only OK over here. The babies have decided they do not nap today. And they have been losing their shit all morning....in shifts. It never freaking ends. I have one upstairs in the RnP now and I stuck DS in the swing and walked away. :::calming deep breaths::
DH goes back on night shift all weekend so he's sleeping and I'm back to being a single parent until Monday.
I put some wine in the fridge. Is it 8 pm yet? 😬😬😬
Just got back from our newborn clinic appointment. She's above her birth weight so we got the ok to stretch feedings to every 4 hours. Hopefully this will let everyone get more sleep and let her actually cue us to hunger. She was actually over 9lbs when we got there, then she had a mega poop and was under 9. Her cord is also really close to coming off which will be nice, I think she'll enjoy tummy time once that's not in her way. We have another weigh and feed appointment next week to see if the fenugreek is helping my supply.
I think MIL is coming tomorrow, I'm hoping it will be during feeding time so I can hide away with the baby for at least 45 minutes of her visit.
@kc295905, how's the clogged duct today? Hope you got it cleared up!
I had another follow up appt this morning - things are looking much better, though not 100% cleared up yet. I'm definitely feeling a bit better - no more fever, less pain and swelling. If I still have redness on Monday, I'm supposed to call the doctor and she will prescribe a different antibiotic. I have to go back in for a follow up next Wednesday.
I did some doctor's office math this morning - We had baby's 1 month appointment last Thursday, I've been to the doctor's office 3 times this week (once to the ob/gyn for the mastitis, 2x to the surgeon/breast specialist for the mastitis), I have my 6 week postpartum appointment on Monday, and then another follow up with the specialist on Wednesday - it comes out to 6 appointments in 2 weeks! If you take out weekend days (when the office is not open), I've been in 6 out of 10 days!

Jane stayed in the swing sucking on her pacifier while I took a shower. She's still in the swing and I'm thrilled. I'm really stressed out today about having to go back to work early, but I keep reminding myself I don't take her to day care until the 1st. I have a friend coming over helping with her while I log onto work, so that's a relief.

Big hugs requiressnacks. I've been telling one kid or the other to please go the eff to sleep since yesterday. I hope the walk helps...and the wine too!

Thank you notes DONE! At least until I unwrap the Build A Bear that someone sent to us. For now, thank you notes are off my psychological torture list. Now if I can just get DH to write the six I assigned to him (his family and boss) since I wrote 20!
I planned a longer post but can never get in front of computer. Basically S has reflux (looks like a lot of us are dealing with this) and just eats and eats to soothe her throat and then spits up. I have tried everything possible to prevent this (different nursing positions, holding upright for a certain amount of time, denying her the boob and trying burping/rocking after a certain amount of time) but she still spits up full feeds at least 3-4 times a day. This morning I had to feed her three times before she kept it down! Anyway this makes me nervous about NIP and so I haven't really left apartment. I thought I'd be this cool "been there done that" STM who just throws her baby on her boob and goes but it hasn't quite worked out that way. And I have help! Anyway you guys are an inspiration with mastitis, more kiddos, twins, etc. so I'm going to try and step up my game next week. This weekend we are going to introduce a bottle so I can get more than two consecutive hours of sleep. Wish us luck!
Also I went on several interviews while pregnant and last week (exactly two weeks postpartum) I found out I got the job! I was really torn bc I have a ton of flexibility at my current job and I love my bosses, but the office culture otherwise sucks and I don't see many prospects for advancement. New boss seems great too and flexible, but probably not to same extent as current bosses, and pay is better with more responsibility so after stressing for a few days I decided to take it! My current bosses will understand and be nothing but supportive but it is weird to know that I will be giving notice my first day after maternity leave! And what if my current org counters? Have decided to try not and stress and watch Khloe Kardashians Revenge Body and Gilmore Girls back episodes for the next 13 weeks!
Tl;dr: I need to put my big girl pants on and get out more. I got a new job.

Yesterday the toddler gave me hell. He was a whiny, clingy mess. I tried to put him down for a nap and that became a shit show. It took 2 hrs. I would not cave. He finally napped for 1.5 hrs. And then Alex was having a hard time napping with Leo making being a noisy fuss all day. So nighttime wasn't any better. Alex stayed up until 1:45 am. He kept fighting sleep. I wish I had given up and watched a movie during all that time.
I ran errands this morning. My sisters brought lunch. My younger sis stayed and has been holding Alex the last hr so he has stayed asleep. Leo is napping. And I am about to eat a cookie with a 2nd cup of joe.

legalbeagle congrats on the new job! How are you feeling? Your tailbone? I think that was you. And I feel you on the STM skittishness. I have no prob NIP. But I'm nervous hauling both kids out esp driving in the winter. I'm the kind that avoids driving in the rain, snow, etc.
@kc295905 & sheepish hope you feel better asap. I had a clogged duct for a couple days and that is scary. It was in my armpit and such a big ball.

littlelion Tailbone is MUCH better thank you for asking. In the end (pun intended) I'm not sure it actually was bruised or fractured bc it got better so quickly (like a little over a week). A friend said she heard from someone else that epidurals can cause tailbone pain so maybe it was that? I never NIP with DS bc it was too painful for the first few months and then afterward never really took the time to get a comfortable position, figure out a cover (some people do without it but I felt weird) and so would just pump and bring a bottle. Now I'm just afraid she'll have a vomiting episode! Also bc she has reflux she is so screamy on boob so it wouldn't be this private, quiet thing and I hate being center of attention! I can understand being afraid to get both kids out in the winter! Lots of coordinating with winter gear and then also potentially unsafe driving conditions. Hope you get a nap in today! Yesterday/last night sounds miserable.

legalbeagle....first, congratulations on the new job! Try not to stress about it now and just bask in your awesomeness!
Second, im so sorry about baby's feeding problems. I am not nursing, but I have a problem eater and it is so, so hard to see the struggling. I hope you guys figure it out soon.
Ugh requiressnacks those days are the worst, I'm sorry. When both kids are crying I easily lose my shit 😬 I think a walk sounds like a great idea! Bring some headphones just in case 😉

Went in to visit my mom and aunt at their work and eat lunch. The big girls are off today and Monday, so I got to take all 3 of them to the grocery store. Thank God for Hyvee and all the random treats to bribe them through the store.
It's Friday. Is anyone doing anything fun? I need to live vicariously.
I guess no one is getting down today
We have nightly prayers for my grandpa the next 9 days. But I will be eating tasty homemade mexican food each night so you can enjoy some of that vicariously.

Have you guys seen this? Looks amazing but at $1000 it probably doesn't make sense unless I can do the math and see that we'd save more by not switching to formula. I really like my Spectra2, but it still has the nipple pulling action they describe in the video.

requiressnacks good luck getting babies to sleep at same time! Seriously you rock.
Okay gotta put down baby who is sleeping on my chest. May go crazy and take my dog for a walk! Is that the kind of living vicariously you were talking about?

I had my first glass(es) of wine in like a year last night...DD1 decided to do an improtu sleepover at my Mom's house and DH and I had some friends over for dinner, and DD2 slept almost the whole time so it was great. Today DH was off so we went to the mall so I could get my wedding ring resized and so DD1 could run some energy off at the play area. Tomorrow, DD1 is going to the ILs to spend the day and night and DH is going to work on his car and then go to his friend's house to play D&D so tomorrow night it's just me and DD2...I see more wine and some pizza in my future (I'm allowing myself to eat whatever I want for the 6 weeks PP period, then it's back to low carb-ing it). I also need to take DD2's 1 month pictures tomorrow...nothing too exciting, but I'll enjoy having some time mostly to myself and not having to watch Disney Jr any time the tv's on tomorrow.
