requiressnacks lol my dh pulls the "but I really got to poop" card when I try to hand off the baby.
Girl, I will never understand why men feel that they can take all the time they want to poop. Not only does he go in there and play candy crush on his phone for like 30 minutes, he also thinks he deserves to do it in peace.
WTF does he think I do when I have to go and the babies are screaming? Um, I either hold it or just go quickly.
This is one of the great mysteries of the universe for me.
lola, Cora started smiling real smiles at around 5 weeks. Her hair started falling out at the same time. It's new hair growth that makes the hair fall out. The hair from birth gets stunned from the sudden hormone loss and stops growing, then when new hair starts growing it pushes out the old hair. It seems to me like babies born with more hair tend to loose less of it than the babies who are already struggling with the baldness. The peach fuzz just gives up. I could be way off with that though -- I've only given birth to peach fuzz headed babies.
requiressnacks, I've had to go an embarrassing number of times while holding a baby. The need to poo and the baby being alllllllmost asleep have coincided too many times. If I put her down I'll have to start all over again, but the bathroom cannot wait any longer.

Oh and I finally bought a bouncer that baby likes!!! OMG having a place to set her down that doesn't make her scream has felt life changing. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet... but I'm praying she keeps liking it enough to allow me to do things (like brush teeth, pee, eat, you know.... the basics) once dh goes back to work.
We found it on clearance at the grocery store and figured it was worth a shot! It has a slow bounce, which she has always really liked as opposed to rocking forward/backward like the other things we have.
I just had H take Cora off of me to lay her down in the PnP. He said "Remember when Indiana Jones had to replace that idol with the bag of sand? That's what I feel like I'm doing."

DH was off today, so we've just been hanging out..I am not ashamed to admit that all of us are still in our PJs. DD1 has been a bit moody today, luckily Disney Jr started a new Mickey series so she's been distracted by that and newly opened Christmas toys today. I love having DH home b/c I like the help with DD1, but honestly, I'm kinda looking forward to tomorrow. DD1 has "school" on Tues and Thurs so I have DD2 to myself from about 9-5...it's great b/c get to watch what I want on TV or run errands with only an infant carrier to worry with...I love when DD1 comes home, but it's nice to have that almost-alone time too.
requiressnacks that note is awesome! DH will give me the baby or wait until I'm home to shower on weekends. How do you think I shower during the week?? I have things I need to do too. I think he got it (for once) last night when I was trying to finish the birth announcements and he decided he wanted to make soup for tonight's dinner.
ETA: he came down two minutes later to get the baby who was already asleep on me. I told him to get away and then finally gave him to him.
Although.... he did drink the rest of my bottle of wine after I went to bed last night. Maybe I'll have to put a note that says paws off, go drink your beer. 😂

What age are your smiling babes? I can tell we are thissss close to a smile, and I selfishly want to be the first recipient.
Also, when does the hair typically fall out, if it's going to?
DS is 6 weeks. He's smiled a few times since Christmas that seemed too often to be coincidental.... like when we'd walk in the room and go over to him. Or smile at him and get one back. Today, I put him in the Ergo for the first time to get some things done and he smiled for the first 5 minutes straight in there. He loved it!!

mrswillie....that should be criminal to finish your wine!
Right? It was from the bargain bin and it turned out to be pretty good. I think I might have to run over tonight to see if they stil have that particular one.

Okay a kinda serious but maybe not at all serious question: how many outfits (like non-sleepers) does your LO have for each stage? I finally packed her newborn clothes away (to save for my sister) and did laundry for 0-3 months. We have like eight sleepers and maybe seven outfits (tops/pants). That seems kind of low to me, but then I'm like "What parties exactly is she attending? She is a baby." 3-6 months is even more confusing for me because it will be in a major season change (March to June). So I bought some stuff at Gap for the earlier months since it can still stay pretty cold here until late April/early May, but maybe will need to get more stuff for the warmer weather?
Also mrsp121308, I caved and bought S her first headband.

I'm newborn I probably have 10-15 outfits, but in 0-3 I have a ton. Short sleeve stuff I just put a light sweater with so I actually get use out of things. DH and I both put her in actual outfits anytime she leaves the house, so we need quite a few on hand so I don't have to do laundry every day.

Way too many...... because baby boy #3. Lol I don't even know how many he realistically needs. Maybe enough and some extras to cover through laundry day.

We're going through a lot of outfits right now, even when not leaving the house, because of spitting up, diaper leaks, etc. Still trying to figure out what makes sense as she gets older and we go out more. We're almost out of newborn.
Also, trying the swaddle tonight. For those of you who swaddle in the RNP for sleep, do you just not buckle them in? I don't think the Mamaroo is deep enough to not buckle her, but we have a RNP too.
It's Monday and I actually knew it's Monday! I'm a little jealous of those of you who are already getting real baby smiles - I am impatiently waiting.
requiressnacks I so feel your pain of demanding, cranky babies. A is a beast. He gives no subtle warning when he's hungry, just screams bloody murder. C is not quite as dramatic. But when they scream at the same time...OMG.
C thought it would be fun to wake up halfway between feedings this past week and want to eat again so of course A had to follow suit. I am still transitioning them off their preemie formula and it finally dawned on me that I should move from the 50/50 mix to 25/75. Wouldn't you know, they are back to every 4 hours. Thank god because I was losing my shit daily and it didn't help that my husband picked up an extra shift. I do ALL the feeding myself when he works except he'll HELP with the 9pm. Heaven forbid he offer to do it by himself. Luckily on his days off he does majority of the feedings and diaper changes.
I've been up for two hours with a cranky baby. I never went to sleep. I'll be feeling it tomorrow. I think it's gas-related so we'll be discussing with the doctor this week to see if Mylicon or gripe water might help. I hate to see her in pain and I also hate us both being overtired. My husband is working tomorrow so I told him to go to bed. I could tell he was getting frustrated, which is where I was last night. Hard to believe I'll ever sleep through the night again.

dream2be3, I took DS off the preemie formula this week too! He actually seems to be eating more now.
Although I wonder if we are in some sort of growth spurt because they both wanted to eat every 2.5 hours yesterday, which was odd!
And I sympathize with doing all the feedings solo. That's usually me too, except maybe one. I guess I can't be mad because he's working and I'm not, but I think it's going to be rough when I go back to work.

I've never buckled in the RnP, and they are usually swaddled.

I probably have 15 sleepers and 10 outfits that all kind of coordinate. I also have one nice outfit (like a party dress). We could probably do with less though.
