F17 lurker here....THANK YOU all for the post and the info. I'm 10 days until my csection date due to sideways twins and very nervous as LO1 was an uneventful vaginal delivery. This gave me some great questions ask my OB today at my appt!

So I wanted to come back and update since my C on Wednesday. Here are the differences between my first one (3 years ago) and this one.
My wrists were not strapped down!! Hallelujah!!! They did give me the warm blankets though, which are heavenly. My arms were still outstretched, but I could move them as I needed/wanted. This was just preference of the nurse anesthetist and I'm so very thankful to have had her!
They only took baby away for a few short minutes and then he stayed with me for the remainder of the surgery. I would've been able to hold him had I not had the shakes from anesthesia/epi, but nonetheless he was there and we were both calm.
Recovery - was about an hour and was done in my room with me, baby, H, and my nurse was in/out. It was very peaceful, quite, and calming.
Nursery - they have a baby nursery still but highly encourage to keep baby in room with you. The first night we kept him with us, the second night we sent him to the nursery at 1am so that I could get some rest.
Catheter was out just around 12 hours after surgery. They would've pulled it earlier, but my legs weren't fully awake until then. Funny story (now, not at the time) my nurse on night 1 pulled the cath at 11pm and had me in the shower at midnight. I made a vow that if she returned night 2 and wanted me in the shower at midnight that I was cutting her lol.
The spinal was what I remembered - they give you shots of lidocaine to the injection site before - that kinda pinches and burns but much more tolerable than getting the IV. After it's numb I really didn't feel anything - just a little pressure when he inserted the cath.
It's a different experience for sure, but nothing that you won't be able to handle! Definitely talk with your anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist about your fears and keep communicating throughout the procedure.
Any questions please ask as I'm sure I'm leaving out some details!
Bumping for obi and also sharing some of my experience I posted for her on our BMB here for others:
I was very anxious before the surgery but there's really nothing to be done unfortunately. Going into it I was glad I was prepared for the logistics of the actual surgery. I started a thread on Jan, I'll tag you in it. Seeing my baby for the first time was amazing, I missed that last time since I was put under. I did not have a clear screen but asked my OB to hold the baby up after she was right out.
After she was out was the worst part TBH. I was shaking and was so cold and just wanted it to be over. MH held her on my chest briefly but I felt a little overwhelmed and had him take her and just hold her next to me. I was not expecting feeling that way. It went by quickly.
From the time I got the spinal to when she was born was only 25 minutes then it was about another 25 minutes to be stitched up. Some of the moms on my Jan board described an insane amount of pressure when the baby is actually born, but I didn't feel a ton and it was over in seconds. I was glad I was prepared for it though.
Post Csection follow up question - how long before you slept in your bed? We came home on Monday and i ried my bed night 1 but quickly moved to the basement to be in a recliner. Hate that everyone but LO1 is in the basement and she's on the 2nd story alone.

I also slept in my bed right away but it was really hard for me to get up. But we don't have another option, our couch is not good for sleeping and no recliner

I was on the couch for 2 nights and then felt more comfortable getting out of bed

Sorry I'm no help either - I was in bed the first night we were home. I was in the hospital for 3 nights and used the bedrails to pull up there. Hope you're feeling better soon!

This. By the time I was home (4th night) I was feeling good enough to get out of bed no issue. But, everyone heals differently. My friend slept in a recliner for about a month. Do you have a step stool to help you get into bed? Then maybe DH can help you get out of bed?
