Toddler and Preschooler Check-in (1/17)

Age: 3.75

Milestones: She knows what she wants to be when she grows up - either a banana or a bird. I suggested working at a zoo with birds where she could also feed bananas to monkeys. That was shut down.

Challenges: Attitude. Dear God, help me when she's 12. She does what she's asked, but not without a tone about her.

Funny/cute stories: Today was career day at school and she was supposed to dress up as what she wanted to be when she grows up. I own neither a banana nor a bird costume, so she went as a baker (we cook together a lot). She was not amused.

How are you? Surviving. Work is nuts, clients are crazy, and my body is, well, huge.

Anything else? Thankful MH deals with me and my crazy job. He's seriously amazing.

QOTW: Right now I'd say her favorite food is tomatoes, specifically the baby grapes. She eats them like candy!

age: 21.5 months

milestones: lots of words coming, he transitioned to the toddler room at daycare and is LOVING it

challenges: occasionally sleep, he will still end up in our room most nights between midnight and 4am. I believe he is having night terrors and he will just scream and scream and we can't calm him. He'll eventually snap out of it and go back to sleep.

funny/cute stories: he is loving to look at my belly, daddy's belly and pull up his shirt to show us his belly. He walked around the house showing off his belly. So cute. He also loves winnie the pooh, and he pronounces is "we-ah-pooh"

QOTW: Fruit! Particularly watermelon and blueberries.

Age: 3.5

Milestones: he's been dressing himself (from head to toe!) independently for a few months now - and can zip up his jacket on his own =)

Challenges: oh god the attitude... like when he throws his coat on the floor, and I say - please hang it up... "no, YOU hang it up." -_-

Funny/cute stories: hubby was putting Button down for bed one night, and we skipped milk bc he'd drunk a lot at dinner (Button, not hubby lol) and Button says, "c'maaawn Dad - you know you could do it...." [get Button milk]

How are you? whew - holidays are over, back from trips to see family, work has settled in. ready to get back to routine!

QOTW: YOGURT. "fresh" yogurt with granola... frozen go-gurts... homemade frozen "yogurt pops"

Milestones: she is a walking machine. She will do LAPS around the house =)

Challenges: she had a bad night sunday with teething pains... it took until 1am, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and a teether to get her soothed back to sleep...

Funny/cute stories: if she sees one of us getting a muffin in the morning in the kitchen, she'll peek over and yell, "AH!" like - GIVE ME ONE!

How are you? whew - holidays are over, back from trips to see family, work has settled in. ready to get back to routine!

QOTW: spinach-applesauce. girl could eat a whole jar!

ALL OF THIS yes - there's this Discover the Dinosaurs thing coming by us this weekend, and the "Little Dinos" toddler play area (which I figured would be for Button) is for ages 2 and under...

DS is 15.5 months

He's starting to show interest in using utensils. Hasn't quite gotten the hang of it, but he's a lot better than I imagined he'd be.

See above. If he wants to feed himself and you don't let him (i.e. it's oatmeal and you don't want it to get all over the outfit you just put him in for the day), he lets you know how much he doesn't approve.

He was having a meltdown this morning (not from the oatmeal thing, but from the "I need you to hold me right meow, I don't care if you need to pack your lunch"). All of the sudden he stops crying, looks at the back door, and says "dog?" The dogs were in the backyard barking, so he must have heard them. It was just crazy how fast he went from losing his shit to a-ok.

Adults are good, trying to plan a summer vacation that would mostly be sans-kiddo.

QOTW: Right now, bananas, bread, mac & cheese.
