That's totally what I thought I'd do with the Avent ones. Then DS took the Medela ones no problem and using the Avent ones just created an extra step with twice as many dishes.
It is a good idea to not buy too many of one brand until you see what your LO will take. Some babies will drink from anything while others are super picky with what brands of bottles they will drink from. Definitely don't want to have a big stash of one brand to later find out baby won't drink from them!
Good plan. DS1 didn't care for Dr Browns and got frustrated with them. I think we went through 8 or 9 types of bottles before finding what worked (major gas issues). The bigger sized bottles weren't necessary until closer to 6 months when he would take more than 4 oz at a time. Not all baby's will go to more than 4 oz at a time via bottle.
I'm a huge fan of the Avent system, mainly because I loved being able to introduce sippy nipples on the bottle. I honestly think that's what helped us cut the bottle and pacifier by a year without much issues.
As someone who washed bottles by hand for a year, the least amount of bottles and pieces you can wash, the better. I'm also not a fan of sanitizing if you don't have to do so (obviously, there are things that have to be sanitized and there are babies that will need it done due to health reasons) but I have heard good things about the microwaveable bags
Bottles are something I can contribute here (I read all threads even if I can't contribute... 🙈)
I also had friends that had issues with the Laminosh (I think that's how it's spelled) milk bags, so be weary of them and keep an eye on your stash if that's the case- they would leak and break without a known reason. Granted, this was over a year ago so they may have fixed the issue by now
