I'm reading that behind closed doors book and it's good. Definitely unsettling. W has woken from naps right at some of the cliffhangers and it kills me.
I wanted to read a memoir kind of book about parenting littles. I picked up Confessions of a Scary Mommy. I just finished it. I do not recommend it. I'm glad it was free at the library.

I keep hearing about Ready Player One and now I'm convinced haha. On to the list it goes!
I went to chapters yesterday and came out with a list of 20 or so to read haha. I only wish I had the money to buy all of the beautiful books haha. But off to the library today!
I've got to add Station Eleven to my list! Lots of people love that one.
I finished The Perfect Letter and The Sweet Life in Paris last week. I am into A Man Called Ove (it's cute!) and listening to Lunch in Paris on audio.
After the few recs here and online I started Station Eleven today. It's the first time I've started a book knowing nothing about it. Im enjoying it so far.

It's funny, I went to Chapters yesterday and made that whole new list and I already forgot about this completely. I was wandering around the library not finding anything on my list when I stumbled upon this so I got it today too!
Station Eleven makes me itch to stock up on water and survival supplies. I'm listening to the audio version and I'm mentally planning what items I'd need to survive.
Just finished behind closed doors. It took me forever because I couldn't read it in big settings. It was haunting and the ending was amazing. I recently read all the missing girls with my family book group and this book is definitely not something they'd like but it is such a better written thriller. Thank you guys for recommending it.
Anyone have a rec on something that is light, but still a good story? I need something a little uplifting these days.
+1
Do you guys like the Shopaholic books? I love picking up a Sophie Kinsella book when I need something fun. I got her new one - My (not so) Perfect Life at the library this week but haven't read it yet.
We talked about it in my book group and decided that there were quite a few holes in the story and maybe she wrote it backwards so you wouldn't be able to catch them as well. I read it till the end but I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah there were some glaring holes in the store. It was the authors first novel I believe. My app tells me she just released her much anticipated second novel.

I'm reading the ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaiman. It's a good story, not what I would normally read but all the books I wanted are still on hold.

I realized that i didn't hate this book. i didn't enjoy it but i was thinking of The Lost Girls by heather young. I wish i could get my time back from that one.

Ooooh I read that one in Mexico in the hospital and it was such a trippy time and read haha. Same, it was not even close to something I would normally read, but I read it for a book club and enjoyed it. I read Stardust after and just loved that one even though it's not hyped nearly as much as ocean at the end of the lane.

Love me some Neil Gaiman. I got his newest, Norse Mythology, for my birthday. It's next on my list.

I'll look into Stardust. Same author? I enjoyed his Norse Mythology book and his writing style.

I recently finished that one. It was a super quick read and very interesting. I'm waiting for American Gods at my library. Can't wait!

American Gods is my favorite Gaiman book. I just re-read it in preparation for the TV show coming out.
Wow, you make me even more excited to read it. I've only heard great reviews on it. And I had no idea it was going to be a show though and at the rate I'm waiting from the library I should just buy it. I def want to read it before the show.

I downloaded the 5th wave to listen to on my car ride. It's a end of the world style book. Alien invasion but not like in the movies. Pretty good so far
Those that need something light, I have a rec. It is pretty smutty too, in case you are in to that. It's called French Lessons by Ellen Sussman (sp?). Quick read and entertaining so far.
I mentioned Ready Player One a couple of weeks ago and wasn't too sure about it. Definitely check it out! It started slow for me but then I really got in to it. It is coming out as a movie soon also.
Thanks for this recommendation. I'm on Ch 7 and I can't put it down. Chapter 6 was such a blast from the past for me with the reference to 80's pop culture. I may have spent time jamming out to some of my fav 80s songs. I can't read the book fast enough!
