I had a good weekend, despite MH working for most of it. The babies got to see their cousins twice, which is so cute! The 12 year old is so good with them!
I've been meal planning but it's super basic these days. I need dinners that are ready in like 15 mins.
Monday- breakfast for dinner Tuesday- tacos Wednesday- chicken sausage and pasta Thurs- chicken stir fry Friday- frozen pizza

Last night was a throwback to the newborn days. Our dog decided to run down the stairs very loudly at 12:30 am and woke up one baby. So I fed DS and prayed that DD would stay sleeping. WELL....my plan kind of backfired and I was up every 1.5 hours with alternating babies. Yawwwwn.
It's dh's birthday today so his present is getting to sleep right now, lol. Phone appointment with the pediatrician in an hour then we need to do all the chores I didn't do yesterday.
crimpgirl, that's adorable -- they look like twins!
Our meals for the week are: Chicken alfredo & broccoli Pork and sweet potato hash with some leftover pork shoulder from tacos last week Cheeseburger Pie, Fries, Applesauce (DS's birthday request) Cafe Rio burrito bowls Salmon, brown rice pilaf, roasted brussels sprouts BBQ chicken and caramelized onion stromboli Grilled chicken antipasto salad
I'm going to see New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men and Paula Abdul on June 15th. 10 year old me is dying with excitement. At least at this concert I won't feel like the only 30-something year old suburban mom like I did at the Scissor Sisters a few years ago.

This is the week I go back to work. I keep having to tell myself that I'll still have Jane. She's just going to be meeting other people too. This is hard.
crimpgirl love the pic. So cute. I totally over packed for our trip. Glad yours went so well.
Meal planning - is it OK that I plan to not try so hard this week? We are making red beans and rice one day, but since I finally got paid we're eating out.
We traveled to see family this weekend and woke up today at my moms house with no power at 12:30am. Thankfully, baby only woke up once to eat. The house was freezing in the morning so my mom fed dd and we packed furiously to hit the road. It was so good to be around family, living over two hours away has never felt so lonely.
In other news, I bought the shusher and it has successfully put my awake but tired newborn to sleep 4 times already!! Cue happy dance!!!
mrswillie....I am so tempted to pull the trigger on buying the shusher. My babies love shushing and I lose my patience really fast. Hmmmm....
I figured it was worth a shot! You can always return it if it doesn't work for your babies.
I'm really hoping it will mean that I don't need to waste so much time trying to get her to nap during the day. I just laid her down, sleepy, turned it on, walked away, and she was asleep within a few minutes. Crazy!
I just got back from my 2 older kids hearing tests. They get them done yearly because they both have different types of hearing loss. DS has unilateral deafness -- complete hearing loss in his left ear and perfect hearing in his right. DD has high frequency hearing loss in both ears. Because they're different types of hearing loss, they're unrelated. It's just a complete fluke that they both have hearing issues. So, because both of them have hearing loss, the ENT scheduled Cora for her first audiogram for the end of May when she'll be 6 months. She'll probably go every 6 months until we're sure there are no issues, then every other year to make sure nothing pops up.
Finally had our phone appointment with the pediatrician. Since she actually has seen dd I'm going to take her advice over the newborn clinic nurses who see hundreds of babies each week and don't really customize their advice. We're going to keep with on demand feeding on one side unless she wants more then we'll feed both sides. She said some babies just don't need a full 3 oz to feel full and satisfied and that forcing her to eat is like forcing someone to work out, they become exhausted and cranky. Eventually supply and demand should equalize. We have an appointment just to weigh her on Wednesday so if she's still gaining and keeping up her diaper count we'll be good. If she's stopped gaining or stopped having a good number of diapers then we'll make a new plan with the pediatrician because newborn clinic stops at 1 month which she'll be in a week(what!?!?). Trying to keep this kiddo fed has proven to be a much bigger task then I ever envisioned, but not force feeding her today actually meant she has slept a decent amount and had some awake time to play and do tummy time. I sort of wonder if she hadn't lost what she did at birth(which was just over their limit by a smidge) if we would have ended up with so many issues.
@cahistoryteacher I'm glad you have a plan! I was definitely over feeding my girl at first because I felt like she wasn't eating long enough (time-wise). When I stopped checking the clock and just watched her cues, everyone was so much happier. Turns out she's just a really fast eater.
lola yeah, that's where we are, just let her eat when she wants. The newborn clinic was really pushing the 15/15 then pump 15 thing and getting to 3oz. My pedi was like, we know she latches and eats and then has good diapers, just let her be. I like her approach.

The day was busy but good. We were out all morning and then had lunch with my sis. Leo had a good nap in the afternoon but Alex has not been sleeping well. He'll sleep for an hr at most, fusses for another hr, nurses, & repeat. Atm he's wide awake even though he's tired. I pray the night does not go the same.
On a bright note, I finally got a new diaper bag. I'm gonna AW since I'm so excited:
