I got it but never asked for a prescription. Bath & body works has a body butter that helped immensely. When I was on bed rest, I just used whatever moisturizer came to hand, and it pretty much went away shortly after delivery.
I like your doctor, mine did not offer an RX. Lots of thick moisturizer, like shea butter or something with a lot of oil in it (if you have coconut or olive oil handy, you could try that). They kept testing me for cholestasis but coming up negative... There's a pine tar soap you could try, it smells horrible but I think it helped (if you're scheduled for tomorrow, I wouldn't run out and buy a bunch of crazy stuff though). Cool showers, stay away from hot water. Sometimes an ice pack would help. But hang in there. I don't remember it lasting even a day after the twins were born, but my memory of those early days is a bit fuzzy.
