I'm very " Fuck Trump" today. This is not what America is about. HOW can people still support this man who is quickly going to fuck is over and get us into a war.
Also, we can't get our new passports soon enough. Idk who would take us if we needed to go though..
One of my cousins sent me a message asking if she knew for sure that my mom didn't vote for him. I think she wants an older mother figure to vent to. Her mother voted for trump. And her mom, my aunt, told her that she trusts god will lead him. This is not the same aunt that said god sent trump. My cousin is hurting. She's married to a black man and they've adopted a half black girl. (Having children would kill her. She'd probably need to terminate if she got pregnant). Before the election her daughter, she was SIX at the time, came home and told her mom (my cousin) that people were telling her of trump got elected more black people would get shot. She put her hand on her moms arm and said, "but mommy, I'm black" wtf she was SIX.
I just got off the phone with my sister. They found my older cousin dead this morning. He has been a drug addict his entire life (he's 45), so I assumed OD but he was found at his gf's house with a huge gash on his head. They don't know if someone did it to him or if he fell or what. My grandma helped raised him and I know she is probably so upset and sad right now. Plus my grandpa is almost 95 and is in failing health. I'm kind of in shock right now.
I'm so sorry mama- that's horrible. You and your family will be in my thoughts.
I'm so sick over the travel ban. I donated to the ACLU this morning, I'll keep putting my money where my beliefs are as often as I am able.
We're going to in laws after nap for lunch. Part of me wants a political discussion to come up, but sadly I don't feel that it would be productive. I hope my in laws don't support Trump's actions even though they voted for him. But I'm also scared to learn that they do.
I just read about at doctor in her residency who was on vacation and not allowed to return to the US because of the ban. I'm sure there are a zillion others screwed too.

Just wanted to say hiiiii
Super busy day yesterday and today is following the same pattern. I've been trying to keep a headache at bay for a few days now but it is winning. The sun is shining and that probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some of you, but I literally cannot remember the last time I saw the sun. It's still freezing but I can pretend I'm on a sunny beach somewhere

I am sick over this too. Apparently people were still held and are still being held despite the 2 judges that issued stays. Border Control was told directly to ignore the court order. So that's against the law.

mrspiatt, that sounds awful. What a terrible experience.
packmomma, have fun swimming! I definitely don't want to take my kids swimming, but waffle house took me straight to fried chicken in my mind which I now need, hahaha so thanks for that.
taketheshot, I know what you mean! Yesterday it was only -1 and we opened some windows and I got spring fever like MAD. I am currently googling every variation of "how to cure spring fever at home." I think I will settle for beers in the sunroom this afternoon with DH and maybe cooking up some pub food? The headache thing is brutal. I hate when you can feel it turning for days but you can't stop it and you know what's coming. Ugh. I hope it goes away for you!

Also the fact that he can deport people in transit who are legal makes me really leary of the US. I'm not going to risk traveling there until he and his ideology are out

I'm in the sad and scared and donating to the ACLU boat too. Also to the IRC to support refugees. I went to church today (it's a very liberal, inclusive church in my neighborhood that does a lot of work for the community) and it was packed. A lot of people had been at the airport the night before and were going to Battery Park to protest today. The lawyer for the Taxi Alliance, which organized the taxi block out from the airport last night is a member of the church community. It felt good to be there.

There is a protest happening at our airport in support. As far as I know no one is being held here. I wanted to go but I'm just not comfortable bringing my kids.
Had a nice time at the in laws. There was light political commentary, but MIL stayed out of it, which is good. M got to pay with one of his uncles that he doesn't see as much. I got an afternoon buzz, so good time was had by all.
H is going out tonight so I think I'm going to eat terrible and have curly fries for dinner.

th3stryck3r, all of the protests, christians coming out and condemning this, the lawyers in the airports, all give me a bit of hope.
Did you guys see he already registered to rerun? There are so many implications from that (propaganda for one). A president has not registered to rerun before midterm before, so it's not normal either. He registered at 5pm on inauguration day. Very nefarious.

I went to church for the first time in over 5 years. (Not counting Christmas service at my parents). A new friend told me about her church and it just felt like I had to go. The pastor very kind and against what's happening.

I started going the Sunday after the election. I knew this church from some of their community activism, and I'd supported their food pantry and soup kitchen and it was the same thing— I just kind of felt like I had to go. I'm really glad I did, because just being in a positive community like it helps.

I did see this— very disturbing. I guess that it affects how non profits (like planned parenhood) can speak about/against him. So it's basically exploring a loophole to limit free speech.
