Hi everyone! I was a J15 lurker over on TD (too internet shy to say hi), and I figured now was as good of a time as any to jump in. My baby was born December 24th, but I had a January due date so hopefully I can stay
1)How is everything going? Pretty well, so far. We're using bumgenius AIO's and some gbabies (size small) that my cousin passed down to me. We are also mixing in some prefolds, which I enjoy using way more than I thought it would. 2)What's your favorite CD for day? Right now I like the gbabies for day, along with the bumgenius flips. 3)Favorite for night? I haven't been brave enough to leave one on overnight. I'm thinking I might need some fleece inserts(?) 4)Are you planning to add or change anything about your diaper routine? I'd love to start phasing out the disposables completely. Also, it's hard to dry the diapers in our apartment - suggestions for rigging a clothesline or something else? 5)AW some fluff! I don't have any CD pics yet! Soon!
Welcome!
Fleece liners and fitteds are working well for us at night, but my little guy still isn't sleeping more than 3 hours. The liner is just wishful thinking on my part for now!
I use a collapsible drying rack for my diapers. I think it's from Ikea. I could probably use another one because when I put them out in the sun, I lat them flat and can't fit as many.
veryvogue, Welcome! I put my covers on a collapsable drying rack in the baby's room since we have a building use washroom. I think the rack is from Walmart (it's a few years old by now).
I'd like to dry my liners outside, but it's too freaking cold up here in the northeast to even want to open the patio door, let alone put anything on it to dry!
@happywigglecmb, milagros315 @ourcrazynavywife - Thanks for the tip! I'm going to go look for a hanging drying rack tomorrow.
Has anyone found that they like using prefolds more than they thought? I was nervous, thinking that I would have a hard time with the folding and calming a fussy baby, but they're so easy.

Haven't checked in yet but I love the prefolds so far! It took a little trial and error to figure the best fold but we've got the hang of it and only had a super tiny leak yesterday!

Just bought six more covers to replace some of the ones from DS's stash that have worn out the elastic. While it sucks to spend the $150, I know they'll have paid for themselves after three months.

Ok finally in cloth...it only took me a month. Oops. I have a mix of thx, grovia, and bumgenius newborn aio. I don't plan on using them long since it took me so long to try them though.
One of the view few pictures I'll be posting online of DS... I finally got one of him in cloth, and yes, that is math and physics equations on his diaper

We save about $15 a week by using cloth... Kid goes through about 15 diapers a day still, and it costs $3.50 to get them cleaned. Too bad they don't come out potty trained!
Here's a question... since the NB stash is starting to become tight, I'll eventually have to get some more OS once we find out what works for us. How long would you give a particular type/combo CD before knowing if that set will work for you and ordering more?

I'd probably give it a week? By then you've had major poops/overnight pees/etc and will have washed them, probably.
Full disclosure: I went balls to the wall and ordered prefolds and covers that should last until she's out of diapers, so I didn't go the (probably very wise) try out a few and pick the best ones for us route.

We currently have: 6 Charlie Banana OS-- I'm not particular fond of them. The diapers are super huge and make his bum 5x bigger than it normally is when on DS. 6 BumGenius 4.0 OS-- I really like these, but we've only used them for a day so far until they were all soiled. I'm debating ordering more of these since they're having their winter sale of buy 6, get 1 free going on 5 Kawaii covers-- These were just washed and are next to be used with the bamboo flats/inserts we have been using with the econobum NB covers we have as our NB stash 6 Alva pockets-- I'm going to attempt them but I think they're still a little big for him by sight
Since he's outgrowing his NB covers now and will probably be out of them completely in a week or two (whenever he hits another growth spurt, most likely), I'm starting to incorporate the OS diapers we have. I'd like to eventually have 30 diapers to make it through two full days and have a couple of extras for while diapers are drying

@happywigglecmb, most of my OS stash is bumgenius 4.0 so I obviously like them. The biggest complaint I hear is people get sick of stuffing them. It never bothered me though.

If that's the biggest complaint, I'm okay with that! Stuffing them, to me, is just finishing laundry. I "prep" the NB covers and liners every so often as it is (aka I put the liner in the cover so we have them ready to go). The convenience of having them ready to go is worth the hassle to me
