Ugh. So MH sometimes does not understand how any of this works. DD was just fussing in her bed. I got up, popped in her paci, and went into the bathroom. I can hear her still fussing and when I walk back in MH is changing her diaper. I'm like... umm you realize it's 5am and now that you're changing her I'll have to feed her. We don't feed her until 6am because otherwise I'm not home in time for the next feeding. So now I need to leave work early to feed her because we only have enough bottles for daycare and I don't want to pull from my small freezer stash... I could seriously punch him.
Me (30) MH (32) Dx: MFI (low all the things) M. 10/11. TTC Since 01/14 IUI#1-3(Letrozole + Trigger) = BFN Second Opinion. Changed RE's. IVF 09/15 Long Lupron 12R/9M/8F, Transferred 1=BFN. 4 frosties. FET #1 12/15 Transferred 1 (3 still on ice)
We are night weaning. Babies did pretty well last night. M ate once and G not at all. They both woke up a couple times but went down fairly easily with the pacifier.
This morning I got them and fed them at 7:30, but I don't know how long they were awake in their cribs before they started fussing. By 8:15 they were already hungry again. G literally crawled into my lap and grabbed at my shirt. I fed them and expected them to play a while longer, but they were rubbing their eyes and fussing so I put them down for a nap. I'm not sure if I made a mistake by putting them down so early - usually we don't start the first nap until 9/9:30. What would you have done?

I would have done what you did. Babies need sleep. I think there's a growth spurt around this time? So that might be why they're a little extra fussy/sleepy.
Naps vary around here, Boca. We put her down when she's tired - however many times a day that is. Yesterday it was four. The day before, I ended up interrupting her nap three times (daycare pick up, walk to doctor, walk home) so she went down at 4pm and slept hard until 6:15pm. She still was ready for bed at 7pm.
Don't overthink too much. I know she'll be getting tired about two hours after she gets up but I let her decide exactly when to sleep. And changing their night routine may change their day routine.
Things have been so stressful around here. DH was just diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. He basically spends 5 hours a day on the toilet and doesn't want to leave the house because he never knows when he'll need a bathroom right away. He's also in so much pain that he needs to sit or lay down a lot. So I've been caring for the two littles 24/7, running all our errands, taking care of the house, etc. He does help when he can, but this has been going on for awhile and I'm just so so so exhausted. He also hasn't been able to work and funds were already tight here. We had to borrow money from his dad to pay our rent. I had to open up a credit card just to get the medication that I need.
Now that we have a diagnosis they can start treatment. I'm just really hoping they find something that helps. I miss my husband and I need the support myself.
All the hugs, shehulk723. That sounds so stressful. There are meds that can help but figuring dosage, etc will be a road trip. I wish him a speedy recovery to a new normal and you some support. Come talk to us as much as you need.
joy that sucks! I hope it doesn't stick around long!
What I wouldn't give for a nap that doesn't involve screaming for what ends up being longer than he naps. DS will scream (not cry) before every nap for 30-40 min, then sleeps for 20-30 min. I've gone by his sleep cues, wake times, rocking, the swing, the couch, my arms, motrin, tylenol, etc. This is just how it's going to be I see. It was nice having a chance to eat, pump, and clean the house while it lasted. I'm over teething these last 4 weeks, and this is his first tooth. I can finally see it poking through.
I feel like I've entered your world lately. I've been only pumping and bottle feeding the last few days and O's naps are lasting maybe 15 minutes. It is so so hard to get everything done and it's mentally draining. I feel like I'm losing it already. Hang in there and you're doing a good job! Eventually they'll have all their teeth in right?! 😜

I just said this to H last night about the teeth. Lol Then I asked him if we had to be dead for the guardianship in our will to take effect. Thankfully he found that funny.
So... I did something bad. DD1 loves music and listening to new songs so we were driving around one day and Walking on Broken Glass came on. I turned it up and told her she would like this one. Well, 3 weeks later and we still haven't listen to any other song while we're in the car. She calls it "mommy's favorite song" and demands that I "turn it loud." 😂

shehulk723 I hope they can get your H's meds figured out quickly, so you can all get back to normal!
joy I hope you feel better! All those illnesses at once sucks. Hopefully you're getting them all done for the year.
I feel bad complaining about DS's naps. He's a great night sleeper. We've never had to sleep train at night. He goes down easy, goes back to sleep on his own, only wakes to eat, and has dropped feedings as needed. He recently started sleeping through the night consistently. He's sleeping about 11.5 hours at night, and 1.5 hours during the day. I don't feel like he's getting enough sleep because he's so fussy during the day. I don't know if the two are related, but they occurred close together.
He used to be such a happy baby and still is, but he fusses/cries/screams so much I have a hard time enjoying him. I'm pretty sure he's teething as I've tried seeing if the solids are bothering him with no change.
pbandjelly my first slept 12 hours at night and napped for less than hour a day. She wasn't fussy though so I never worried about naps, the 20 minutes she took recharged her. DS also sleeps 12 hours at night and naps for 2 hours total during the day. He's fussier without that time. He doesn't take his first nap until he's been awake for 3 hours and is only on 2 naps a day. Kids usually only need a certain amount of time a day of sleep. So if he consolidates most of it at night he might not need as much during the day. Right now he might be adjusting to the less sleep during the day and will eventually stop being as fussy. Of note I always take a better night time sleeper. It sucked that DD only slept in 20 minutes increments but I had my evenings so I took it. She's 2 now and takes 2 hour naps. So there's hope for the future!

This is great to hear! Thank you so much for sharing!
And I promise to stop complaining so much. I'm finally accepting that this is the new norm for a while.

Not a nap complaint, I swear! More of a break through.
Every time kiddo showed a sleep cue, I took him for a nap. If he screamed while rocking him, we went back downstairs to play. We did this a few times, but Woah! I think he's been trying to transition to fewer naps again. Because when we went back to play, he was fine. We had a lot of fun playing today since he wasn't screaming. He ended up awake for 2 hours, napped for 1 hour in the AM, then up for 3 hours, napped for 30 min, then up for 4 hours, and bedtime. It was so weird. But he was so happy again today. I feel like I got my happy boy back! Fingers crossed tomorrow goes as well because we have family coming to visit tomorrow through next week. But I feel like a really horrible mother because this has been going on for two weeks plus.
pbandjelly Yay for a good day! Did you know the 2-3-4 nap schedule really is a thing? It was a really good fit for DD1.
I have heard of it before. I just wasn't expecting DS to do it on his own today. Even though his naps were still fairly short, I enjoyed the longer stretches of awake time!
