My sweet Sara was born on 1/8/2017 with Down syndrome and a couple of medical complications related to Ds. Because of her medical complications, she has not fed and cannot currently feed by mouth, so I have been exclusively pumping for her. I now have a bit of an oversupply problem. She remains in the NICU, so I have been using a hospital grade pump, pumping every 3-4 hours around the clock. I'm getting well over 50 ounces per day, and expressed my concerns to the LC in the hospital. She told me to decrease the length of time I spend pumping from 15 minutes to 12 minutes, which I've done, but she felt I should maintain the frequency of my pumping. I feel like if I gave myself a 5-6 hour stretch at night, I'd probably be just fine in terms of my supply, and I'd also be more rested too 😊 Thoughts? Full feeds for my daughter will be 60 mL every 3 hours in the NICU (or about 16 ounces), and she will reach that amount tomorrow morning, so I'm waaaaaay ahead of her.
