Hey all - sorry I've been so absent! I hate Tapatalk and haven't wanted to get out my computer.
This is my first week home without dh and it's going well! He was absolutely amazing the first few weeks he was home but it started to feel like he was just getting lazy the last couple of weeks... so it's probably a good thing he's out of the house!
My 6 week appointment was yesterday but it got cancelled, and I started my period today, boo! Can I just go ahead and wear tampons?! Appt isn't until Monday. Oh well.
Also, a quick question - when do you put baby to bed at night? And how many weeks are they? When do you plan to move bedtime to an earlier time?
Dd is almost 7 weeks and doesn't nap a ton during the day(pretty much since day 1!). She's usually in bed any time from 9:30 - 10:30pm. She'll sleep until anywhere from 2 - 4am.
I honestly don't know when she needs to go to bed earlier and how to make that happen...

Winnifred, I'm not much help here...but our babies (12 weeks) go to bed between 7 and 8 p.m. When they were younger they would wake up again around 10 or 11, but they dropped that feeding and now sleep through until like 2 or 3 a.m. It happened really organically.
We did implement a whole routine pretty early on so they know when we go upstairs, they get swaddled, the sound machine is on, they get in PJs....they are going down for the "long sleep." I think it has helped manage their expectations.

where are you moving to, @kc295905? Same town, or different?
MH and I finally agreed that in 2019 we are leaving New Haven. Basically where we live is high taxes, high crime and shitty schools. He was born and raised here so he was kind of die hard about it, but now that the babies are here he is finally changing his mind.
Winnifred, if I worked, I'd start doing an earlier bedtime routine 2-3 weeks before going back to work. I'd aim for 8 or 9pm. Currently, for us, the 10:30pm bedtime works best because if I nurse her around 8:30 and again at 10:30, she will sleep all night (she's 3 months). I love this and don't mind staying up, so I'm not messing with it.
We're hoping to look for a new house next summer. Dh wants to move farther out, less of a city feel. I'd like a bigger house too. At the same time I love my little house. But hosting just my own family is past cozy. The problem is my house is narrow. And dh is too tall.
requiressnacks enjoy your beautiful kitchen the next 2 yrs! @kc295905 brrr it's chilly here too. No snow either. Have fun at costco! I usually only buy paper goods, diapers and water. But recently found they have some good frozen chicken nuggets & edamame. crimpgirl have fun at the gym!
I woke up cranky today. Leo is at dc already. He didn't cry at all only a couple whimpers. He's too cute. He knows the drill. Hugs me, says "love you too" & then walks over to the teacher.
Drinking coffee and watching talk shows. I hate football. Don't care who wins superbowl. But now I want to invite pple over and have a superbowl menu...so much yummy food.
requiressnacks we aren't sure yet. We are actually in a great town, great schools, walkable community etc, but the houses are old, small and expensive. We like older homes and the character that comes with them, but of course they are expensive to maintain and fix up. MH is handy but he works full time and realizes he doesn't have the time to do a whole lot with young kids. We had originally bought our house (2 bedrooms) thinking we'd finish the upper level, but that's not going to happen now. We've started to look in other neighborhoods where you can get more bang for your buck but the houses are boring. Haha. We aren't really looking to buy until later this year or next year. I love our house but we need more room. 😬🙁🙄 I have a lot of thoughts about this haha.
Yeah, 2 bedrooms is tough with 2 kids! Hopefully you can get a decent price for your house and find something you love even more!

I don't care about this Superbowl either (although I do like football.) I'm kind of sad we don't have Superbowl plans because I want ALL THE UNHEALTHY FOODS.
And yes, I will enjoy our kitchen for the next 2 years and then hopefully it helps sell our house. The sad part is that we won't ever get our money back when we go to sell. Oh well, we use the kitchen constantly so that makes me feel OK about the money we spent on the renovation.

And to counteract all my bitching....I'm happy it's Friday because I think we are going out for pizza later. Today is weigh-in day for our weightloss challenge.

I had to talk myself off the ledge yesterday after picking Jane up from daycare. I went in and asked for a receipt because I signed up for the Dependent Care FSA through my employer and they gave me the whole "we only do one at the end of the year" so I explained that I needed one once a month because I'll be reimbursed for the payments. They finally printed me out the receipt. Then I walked in to get Jane and the afternoon lady said "Who are you here for?" I said "Jane" and she said "which one is that?" then started saying "this one?...this one?" I was horrified. But it is only Jane's second day there and I need to loosen up.
I am still planning on Jammies all weekend. Although I started the laundry today, kept Jane home with me as I work until her Dr. Appointment for 2 months this afternoon. She's sleeping soundly in the second rock and play we got her. :-) I love those things.
I'm with you littlelion, Who cares about the game? I'm in it for the food and the halftime show. :-) although Matt somebody on the Falcons is from my husbands tiny home town in south east Texas, so he feels like he has pull in this game. LOL
This is me and MH trying to talk through our issues today.
I fought with dh last night. It was one-sided. I told him I was being supportive of him going to class evenings and weekends but that he can't expect to go out too. He could not understand why I was so hot under the collar since he hadn't done anything. I'm like cause I know you. I try to talk things out beforehand to avoid problems. But yeah talking doesn't seem to get thru to him.

Even being her 2nd day, they shouldn't have so many babies they don't know who is who. What if Jane had a food allergy and they gave her some other baby's formula because they couldn't figure out which baby it was? That seems totally unacceptable, IMO.

mrsp121308, That makes me feel better about my want to talk to them about it. I don't think the person who said that was the main teacher, but I'm still getting to know everyone. I think that woman goes between classes and helps out. She can only hold the babies after she's sitting because she has a walker. Another lady was holding her and brought her to me with her correct bottle, so that made me feel a little better (of course my mind was thinking where's my baby? how could you lose her?) If more things make me feel bad about this place we'll up and find another, but I feel like I need to stick it out for a month because we've paid already. That is unless there's something that happens that I just can't live with. It's nice having Jane home today while I break the rules and work with her here. My husband had to work all night so he's here too and will just log in some for meetings later. I also don't have any calls.Except for a team meeting right after Jane's appointment that I don't know if I'll make it to or not. I was thinking that a home daycare might be better, but I dread looking for another one.
I'm am not a football fan, and my husband is a big Pats fan. As happens every few years, the Super Bowl is on my birthday...womp, womp. I told my husband that in exchange for watching the game, I want a birthday weekend since part of Sunday is already lame. We're going to go shopping on Saturday and he's going to cook me dinner, then a fancy brunch on Sunday.
Last time the Super Bowl was on my birthday the Pats lost and he was drunk and in a HORRIBLE mood. DNW a repeat of that.
Baby is 6 weeks old so I am going to the gym today!!! Hoping baby will do well while I Boulder. I'll go right for noon when the gym opens and no one is there.
Tomorrow I have some band members coming over so we can practice. Excited to see them. I'm ticked DH won't be here to look after the baby like he had agreed too. Fingers crossed DS sleeps the whole time.
The gym doesn't open until noon? What the....? I guess people can't go before work.
Band? I can't remember if I knew that. Like singing band with guitars and drums or marching band?

My dh was a butt head this morning too. I had some pumped milk that needed to be used so I asked him to take a feeding. He did then promptly bitched about it when he plopped her into her bassinet wide awake afterwards. Dude, don't take the feeding if you're then going to moan and especially if you aren't going to utilize her awake time. Men are so annoying sometimes.
Oh hell no catherineoctober that is the WRONG thing to say to a parent. what if some stranger came in claiming it was their kid? Or like mrsp said, a food allergy. I'm sure she didn't mean anything bc you are new, but it's just unprofessional and obviously made you uneasy
Right? ok thanks. I thought of that too - on top of it all my code to get in hasn't worked yet so they have to let me in each time. So ANYONE could have been coming in. They didn't check my ID or anything. Now, the first time I came in I did have Jane with me, so there's that, and the same woman has been there to let me in among other people watching. But they just seem too lax. Then I think I'm just too uptight and a first time mom so it's expected. But don't sell me on all your security when you obviously don't use it. I'm a working mom, you can't say you're too busy for stuff like that when that's the whole job. Back to the receipt thing, I told the lady I emailed about it too and her response was that she has 99 emails. I actually got an email response from her a month after we initiated conversation about using that place. Luckily I called and set up a visit or we wouldn't have gotten in, but now I'm not so sure that was a good thing.

I hope there's no repeat of 2012!! Gaaahh! GO PATS!! The funny thing is every year I had a baby, they went to the Super Bowl. I was in 3rd tri for the last two. This time baby boy gets to see them in his first Super Bowl. LOL.

catherineoctober, honestly? I don't think you are overreacting or being a crazy FTM. I'd be pissed. Not knowing which baby first, then the security would be a done deal for me. I'd pull her and look elsewhere.
You need to have good feelings about where you leave your child, not be second guessing your choice every day. There's obviously something your mommy-instinct doesn't like about this place. Trust your gut, if you don't love it, start looking for something you do.
catherineoctober sorry for the issues with daycare. But seriously... wtf! Which one is Jane? I can see them not knowing who YOU are if it's a different person covering the afternoon and she just started, but why doesn't she know who Jane is?? That's more WTF than the receipt, but there must be other people who need a receipt. We give one at the end of the year? Um no, you can give one when I pay! I hope things go more smoothly.

I feel like I have to "mom" mine sometimes. I asked him to go get me a frosty because my mouth is in so much pain and he said "ok, I guess I'll go battle the traffic". I almost flipped on him right there. Wendy's is less than a mile away. Grow a pair! I call him princess sometimes and it seems to work. He usually straightens up for a bit.
I got my hair colored and cut this am. Feels so good! I brought baby with me and he was great. All the ladies LOVED him and he was eating it up. DS1 was at school. And I picked up an extra day for DS2 at daycare. He loves it there and she loves him, so no mom guilt on that one!
I'm trying to find something to do with the kids tomorrow... well, for all of us, including DH, to do. I need something fun to get me and the boys out of the house. I brought them all to the park yesterday afternoon and survived.
Other than that, getting ready for Sunday!! Woohoo Patriots! Our friends are coming over to watch. We live in a rival team area, so it was rather nice we found fans who live a couple blocks up when we moved here. Haha!

littlelion yay for baby wearing! I love it and all my boys loved it. I used the Baby Bjo.rn a friend had and gave me. I liked it when he was younger, but the heavier he got, the more I felt it in my back. I went and got an Er.go and it's been well-loved since. I haven't used yours, but it looks a little more comfy than the Bjo.rn I had.
