sanibel21 hugs for the crap sleep and commiseration about irritability-that's been my biggest PP complaint so far. Anyway, re: the insomnia...hear my heart, I do not mean for this to sound harsh, but I'd be very hesitant to blame a one off night of sleep on the Zoloft just yet. If you haven't been able to sleep since you started it, maybe, but I truly don't think it's been long enough yet to blame sleep issues on it, especially one night of poor sleep. Insomnia can also be a manifestation of depression/anxiety, so there's that too. Also, can you objectively look at the situation and be sure you're not trying to find a reason to stop taking it? I know you were very wary of it to start with, so I'd be real with myself and make sure that I'm *truly* being affected by any possible side effects before stopping it.
That said, + whatever to making sure to take it in the AM. With both antidepressants I've taken my doc explicitly told me to take in the morning to avoid sleeplessness, so definitely start there if you're taking it at night.
@kitchen I know it's hard to be hopeful with what's going on but teachers have been fighting against shitty districts and government and little funding for years and they will continue to do so. This fight is not over, it's just beginning. Don't despair.

I sent out thank you emails this morning to the people who I interviewed with yesterday and the main guy (who is hiring, who would be my boss) responded that they really enjoyed meeting me and that they all think I would be a good fit there. He also added they had a few more interviews and then had to consider all candidates but they would be in touch next week. I mean, it at least sounds like I did my best. So if I get it, that's awesome, and if I don't, there was nothing else I could have done.
We don't. We use room temp bottled water. But we have well water and that was what our pedi recommended. If we had city water it might be different.
K, I'm only being (super) paranoid, but you don't boil it? And plastic bottles? No worries about bpa?
We don't. I asked our pediatrician about it because a resident mentioned it in the hospital and he laughed. DS was not a preemie and isn't immunocompromised, so there's no need.
The bottles we feed him from are plastic, as are the big jugs of water we use. I guess I *might* be concerned about BPA if we were warming the jugs of water or his bottles, but we're not doing either.
ksyknelvr73 I'm kinda laughing about your kid tho. He's smart. And bold. And knows how to try to get what he wants. Not necessarily the worst traits.
Silver lining I suppose? He is very smart. And SNEAKY! I also caught him forging my initials in his agenda a couple months ago (we have to sign off every day on his behavior). He didn't even get a bad behavior report that day!!!! It's like he just wanted to see if he could do it? He scares me a little.
DS2 has been fever free since the MOTN last night; however, he's still super irritable and won't sleep/tolerate being flat. I went ahead and gave him the abx. That's what y'all would do right? I'm doing my best to give him Tylenol when I can, but the poor babe has been wailing for the better part of the afternoon. He took one nap, a little less than an hour, from 12:30-1:20ish and has been up since 6:30a otherwise. He falls asleep during bottles and wakes up as soon as it's finished. I've been able to get him to fall asleep in my arms at like a 30-45 degree angle, but as soon as he's flat the screaming starts. His voice is hoarse from so much crying yesterday and today.
I'm writing this as I'm walking in circles in his room bouncing him.

britta poor little guy. That's tough when they are so congested it is hard to sleep. Maybe you could put some books or something under the head of the crib to elevate it if you don't have a wedge?

He's really not all that congested. We suspect he has an ear infection, but the doctor wasn't able to confirm because his ear canals are to small to visualize the middle ear. She wrote me a script yesterday and said to go ahead and start them if he wasn't better in 24 hours. I was on the fence about it because he's been fever free, but the other ear infection symptoms haven't gotten better.
I don't want my kids to have antibiotics for no reason, but there's really nothing else we could do.
I haven't finished reading tags, but do I use tap water for formula? Cold or warm?
If you're not on a well and your city water is safe to drink, then go ahead. I don't boil water except when sick. You can use warm or cold, matter of preference for baby.
Speaking of, I finally took babe to the doc because this cough just isn't going away. He has bronchiolitis. She doesn't think it was rsv because of how mild he has it and that he's still eating and drinking and oxygen is good. Nothing else I can do for him- ears look good. I hate baby illness.
Hope all the sick babies feel better! I had to solo parent all 4 kids today and do dinner and bedtime. Wow that sucked haha. My H had to work on a big issue all night and today. He was up from 530am yesterday until 6pm today. Felt so bad for him .
So I gave LO formula twice today and at bedtime I saw she had a rash all over her chest and belly. Gah!! Also started zoloft 2 days ago. Why did I do two new things so close together?? I am losing my mind.
This baby is not a big peeer at night so it's nbd what we use. But boys have all their pee in the front so two things are important with my oldest son- 1) the fit of the diaper around his legs and tightness under the belly- the pee often comes out the top if not tight enough or if it's too small of a size. 2) we used pampers baby dry at night (still do). We also size up. So if babe is in size 2 during the day, use a size 3 at night.
Thanks, all. MH is home finally and agreed with starting the abx. He also thinks I should take DS1 in tomorrow if he still has a fever in the morning. He thinks he may have strep.
britta solo parenting sick kids is no fun either! He went to bed at 6-630ish tonight and I'm sure he'll sleep like a rock all night. Of course my 2 yr old has been in his crib since 7 and is still awake and keeps crying out. Hopefully Motrin fixes whatever is wrong... I'll have to check his mouth tomorrow to see if his 2 yr molars are coming in.
