It makes me crazy when people don't alter their driving to reflect road conditions. If it's pouring or snowing or whatever, you need to slow down a little, leave a little more space between cars, etc. You don't get to drive 75 mph in a snow storm just because you're in a truck and believe you have excellent driving skills.
FTR, I'm not accusing Renarene of this mentality. But her post and today's wintry conditions in the northeast had me thinking about it.
I definitely drive with care, I just find it exciting.
I don't typically wear waterproof mascara. In part because I'm lazy and because I always seem to have issues with it irritating my eyes I guess due to contacts and allergies. I don't find it to be an issue unless I have a full on cry or something.
I think too many pet owners are selfish when trying to save the life of their pet. Like, at the expense of quality of life for the animal. For example if your dog's hind end is paralyzed and it needs a cart to get around. Is that really for the good of the dog or is it so you feel better? Prosthetics for large animals make me cringe as well. They are not practical at all. Good for you, the pony can walk now, is it comfortable for the animal? Probably not. You could have used those resources to help multiple other animals that would have had a great quality of life after treatment. The same goes for animals that have crazy or dangerous behavioral issues that will not get better. They are clearly miserable. Put it out if it's misery and help an animal that will be able to be successfully rehabilitated.
I hope that makes sense. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about medical issues that are easily managed. Some of the things I've seen people put their animals through makes me feel some kind of way.
Zips up flame suit 😬.
The same could be argued for people? Prosthetics are hard and painful for humans but I wouldn't argue that those resources could be used to help so many other humans with easier to treat problems.
I drive slow on the highway in the right lane when the weather is shit. It terrifies me, and I feel like our city never salts the road efficiently. I have to go to work so I don't really have a choice.

No because humans can make the choice for themselves and understand why it's happening to them.
pistolpackinmomma, I think the difference is that people can make the decision for themselves to wear one or not. Strapping a prosthetic leg on to a 500lb pony is freaking ridiculous. No matter how you spin it. When it comes off it puts strain on all its other legs and that in itself can cause other injuries and health issues. It's just totally unreasonable. Yes this was a thing that happened in real life.

well I will take this one step further and fully into flammable territory, but I think people are downright irresponsible with a lot of the medical expenditures they have on pets. Unless you are pretty well off, spending multiple thousands of dollars (at a minimum) on medical treatments for pets (usually cancer treatments) is just ridiculous.
At the end of the day, humans outlive pets. Period. When one gets a pet, one needs to know going in that it is likely going to die before you die. I think the way people push extending teh life of their pets is very similar to how end of life care happens with humans in the US medical system. It's about quantity over quality and I think it's horrible.
I used to drive in snow all the time. Lengthy trips too. In my little Honda Civic that somehow was quite good in snow. Now, not so much. I have a vehicle with AWD and I'm all white knuckles and going super slow especially with kids in the car.
Some of us are sensitive and never know when an emotional McDonald's ad will take us by surprise. Waterproof for life.
My Achilles heel is the Disney commercial where the princesses and images of girls are intertwined against the backdrop of that song encouraging kids to be champions.
I used to follow a certain dog breed's rescue page.
The amount of money and time they would put in to some dogs that were left with a low quality of life turned me off. They put all this time and expense into saving these dogs that could then only go to certain homes that had to meet a frankly insane list of criteria.
They would put he's a happy dog... that can't see, can't go to the bathroom on it's own and has to go to a home where someone will be home all the time and will learn how to give it a zillion meds and force it to go to the bathroom. WTF.
I think baby clothes are a sham market. Right now my son wears 6-9, 9-12, and 12-18 months. Are they vanity sizing babies? All of the clothes should have weight guidelines on the tag. Ain't nobody got time for the bullshit.

I agree with the opinions about animal care going too far, but IME it isn't just the pet owners.
I'm sure it isn't every situation, but I could give anecdotal evidence of multiple pet owners using different vets in various states and the pet owner was ready and willing to put their pet down, but the vet refused to do so because the vet still believed the animal had quality of life.
One example: my sister's 20yo diabetic blind cat who could no longer get into the litter box. She took the cat to several different veterinary practices trying to find someone to put the cat down and was repeatedly told the cat still had more time.
Her definition of quality of life was different than the vets.

Which is why I just stuck with one brand.
He has seven older boy cousins. I didn't buy shit lol.
I think it's great when adults celebrate and enjoy things that many people think should be for kids. Examples: their own birthdays, Halloween, cartoons, Disney World.
I used to always do winged eyeliner, then my sister showed me the magic of lining the inside of your upper lid. Talk about a game changer for my fat eyes that's smear all eyeliner
Isn't that a big infection risk though? That's what they said the last time it was a trend.
