TGIF!!

When we are around dogs or cats, I always have to remind N to go slowly toward the animal so it doesn't get scared. He's been around my SIL's dog and our neighbors' dogs quite a bit, but it's still a constant reminder. I tell him to put his hand out to let the dog sniff him before he pets the dog. You just never know how the dog is going to react to a small human.

I don't let my kids pet dogs I don't know. I don't care if the owner gives permission. Dogs do weird things sometimes and DS doesn't know how to properly interact with them. Look don't touch.

Ok. Confession, since it's Friday and I UO'd instead.

DH is...letting himself go and it's...bothering me. He put on weight while I was pregnant with DS1, then lost it with me post-baby. Same this time, he put on weight while I was pregnant, but he's very "no1curr" about it this time. I mean, I don't expect that he's going to have a model or body builder physique, but if I'm taking steps to take care of myself, I feel like he should too. It's not all about looks for me either, I feel like DS1 is getting to an impressionable age and we should be setting good examples for him.

I may also be salty because I know 85% of his problem is his affinity for craft beer and if he reigned that in some he'd probably lose a shit ton of weight, while I'm over here having to watch what I eat AND workout to lose 5lbs.

Ha, britta my FFFC is that I'm annoyed that DH lost a bunch of weight while I was in my third tri, and now I'm stuck as the chub in our relationship. At least for now, but I'm working on it.

+1 to pets now being a pain in the ass.

The dog is fine with the kids, he's just so needy all the time that it's adding to my being touched out.
The cat is being RIDICULOUS. We've had to confine her to the basement so she'll stop peeing on the entryway mat, the tummy time mat and DS's bed. So now she HOWLS at all hours of the day. I've started letting her outside for a bit (she's chipped) but now one of the neighbours has it in for her. Just now my MIL came to the door with the cat, after my neighbour had taken her to the humane society, saying that this neighbour tried to have her surrendered to the humane society. Last time I checked, cats are allowed to be outside as long as theyre registered with the city (which she is). The cat is like 14 or 15, so I'm hoping she's on her way out soon because her life is just so sad now.

I hosted a Valentine's Party at the park today. Only 3 other kids and their moms came. And 2 were my cousins and their kids. They had fun playing. I think I'm going to make some phone calls and I'm debating if I want to start decluttering the toy room. It is a huge mess. I might wait til Sunday.

I'm happy we don't have any inside pets. We sort of have 2 outdoor cats. They go between our house and the neighbors. I put flea collars on them and I think the neighbor took them off. I'm not sure if they feed them or not because they usually come here the same time every night for food.

@snuff9861 definitely keep her in if the neighbor is being crazy. U hate to think what people are capable of. It sounds like the cat is highly stressed with the peeing. I wonder if the vet would have pheromone options for you.

britta I'm glad your little ones are feeling better.

O got sick one more time last evening so she's home with DH. Both my in-laws got sick this morning. I'm at work texting DH for updates every half hour. She's not eating a lot in general - this morning I had to stop pumping because both bottles were full!! - but he is getting enough in her that we're not worried about dehydration.

Oh and when I dropped DD1 off at daycare they told me RSV is going around her room. Great.

iwantbacon, there was a point in time where I weighed more than MH, both pre- and during pregnancy. That was really hard on me. Now, I weigh less than him, but I have to work to lose more weight. MH is super active at work, which is why he can eat anything and drink beer and still lose weight. Jerk

@snuff9861, did the neighbor know it was your cat? That is ridiculous, and I don't blame you for keeping her inside now. I hope the peeing and howling get better for you.

fem, I hope O continues to get better and that DD1 avoids RSV. This winter just sucks for illness. How is O doing with the bottle?

The boys had a great trip to the Air Museum. N told me all about his new police helicopter. I think we may get a membership since N loves it so much.

Thanks for asking - my husband said she took half an ounce from it but we're still mainly going with the medicine syringe to feed her.  At this point I'm kind of hoping she'll just figure out a sippy cup soon.

Also museum memberships save my sanity on my days off.

She's been peeing outside of her litter box for a long time. We've done pheromones, different litters, moving the litter boxes, locking in a closet with only the litterbox for 2 days (fed and watered of course), testing for UTIs or bladder issues. All of it has come back with NIL.

Yes she knows the cat. We had a run in with her earlier in the summer last year. The cat was hanging at my direct neighbour's house because her little girl loves to love on Macey (the cat). The crazy ass neighbour lives across the street diagonally from them. She left a note in my neighbour's mailbox (before she knew that Macey was ours) that the cat was seen wondering the neighbourhood. Like unless she's pooping in your garden or something, mind ya own damn business. We have a lot of cats in our neighbourhood, the local crazy cat man has about 8 or 10 that come and go out of his garage.

I think I spoke too soon...

So, DS1 got his first dose of abx yesterday afternoon, 1pm. We gave him that and a dose of Motrin. He slept until we woke him at 5pm. He woke fever free (obviously, Motrin on board) and actually ate dinner. We put him to bed at his normal time (8pm) with another dose of abx (to be given twice daily) and a dose of Tylenol (still fever free, but was complaining of pain).

He woke at 7:30 this morning, fever free and seemed back to his normal. He ate breakfast and took his abx, and drank everything we would give him. He asked for lunch at 12, but ate just a few bites. Put him down for a nap, he slept for an hour and 20 minutes or so. When he woke, he felt warm, but I assumed maybe because he was warm in bed. He's back to just wanting to lay on the couch and I just checked his temp-101.3. Should I be concerned that he's spiking a fever again after 24 hours on abx? He says nothing hurts, but he's been inconsistent all along. I txt MH at work and he was like, "Idk"

I don't know why I can't keep this kid well. Paging sanibel21....

britta this seems normal to me, especially for the strep. DS1 is like this when he gets strep and he can sometimes have a fever for the better part of 2 days. Keep doing Motrin - plus, during/after naps they are going to be warmer anyway.

My daycare used to try to send DS2 home by doing this, taking his temp after a nap b/c it would spike almost every day. That's just my two cents.

Thanks penguin129 and ksyknelvr73. I actually waited 2 hours after his nap to check his temp because I wanted to make sure it wasn't falsely high from that. I ended up calling the doctor. The nurse said to keep an eye on him and if he's still febrile at this time tomorrow (48 hours of abx) to call the on call physician.

I was working and it was busy, I am just catching up and saw this now, sorry! We usually say should be fever free 48 hours after antibiotics. And it's ok it was gonna this am and came back this afternoon because temps usually spike second half of the day. As long as it's still coming down about a degree about an hour after fever reducer, you're good.

No problem, thanks sanibel21. I ended up calling the office and the nurse basically said the same thing. If he still has a fever tomorrow afternoon (so 48 hrs on abx by then) to call the on call pediatrician.

I was just baffled. Every other time he's been on abx he's like a new kid after 24 hours.

ETA: I just checked him now and he's 101.6. I haven't given him anything because he doesn't want anything and I'm Team "fevers aren't all bad."

In other news...

Apparently, 3 of the surgeons were given the resumes and notes from interviews of the candidates for the Clinical Nurse position. MH operated with one of them today and he told him that they should hire me, hands down. Yesterday he operated with the surgeon I rounded with during my job shadow the other day and he alluded to thinking I'd be a good fit.

I'm flattered. And nervous now.

When I went to the event at crockadoodle the other day I felt so guilty. 10 other moms there and I was only the one bottle feeding. I felt so judged.

I usually feel...I don't want to say the opposite, because I too feel judged, but I usually sit there, shaking up my bottle of formula like, "COME AT ME BRO." Dare you to tell me my kid is (or I am) somehow inferior because of what he's eating.

I'll be going home mid morning on Sunday so it's not a long trip or anything, but it'll be nice to have a night away and some good girl time.

I will admit to awkwardly watching a friend get a formula bottle ready. Not judging, but just thinking--how much formula? What kind? how would my supply would be if I started formula but still nursed and pumped? Does she drink a hundred cups,of coffee a day, because i would.
