Yes, mesh underwear
Confession: the moment I was able to shower, I used my own pads and underwear. I hate the hospital supplies ones. I only needed the super ones for a couple days before moving to regular pads. This reminds me I need to buy pads soon 🙈
You can't have anything in the vagina for 6 weeks post birth. C-section or vaginal, you basically have a giant wound in your uterus from where the placenta was that needs to heal (and the cut from a section in that case). The 6 week rule is because some women need the full 6 weeks for the area to heal and return to relatively normal, and you don't want an infection to occur
What's going to come out? (Besides the baby and placenta, obv). Just blood? How much? For how long? Like a period, or for like a whole week, or what? Will shit just be dripping out of there for 6 weeks??
I bled like a heavy period for a few days, moderately for about a week, and light bleeding/some days spotting for another week or 2.
I bought a bunch of heavy pads and ended up being able to switch to regular pretty quickly. I did like the extra length of the overnight ones for the first week.
I had clots the day of delivery, but none after.
My suggestion - as soon as you're cleared to be on your feet, don't wait too long between bathroom breaks. The heaviest occurrence of bleeding while in the hospital was because I went a time between bathroom breaks and it basically pooled while I was reclined in bed.
