Congrats lady! I hope the recovery gets better. Did you decline the stronger meds or is that all they offered you?
MH convinced me to accept norco 5-325 (replaces tylenol), which I can take 1-2 every 3-4 hours. (I'm nowhere near the max dose.) Also, 400mg ibuprofen every 6h, zofran 4mg every 8 hours to make sure I don't get sick from the norco. I find that meds are more effective if I take meds on schedule rather than taking as needed. Like @wineandcupcakes, I underestimated c/s recovery. It sucks.

Hang in there. The days I am more active are better but it isn't my favorite thing. I definately agree that taking meds on schedule is better than as needed.
+1 to Definitely keeping the meds on a schedule. At least for the first week to 10 days. I stopped taking the Percocet around day 8 but kept up with the Tylenol And ibuprofen through day 14. Now I'm almost to day 21 and haven't taken anything the last few days.

Yeah that's more like the schedule they had me on. Just Ibuprofen wouldn't have cut it, but staying up on the scheduled meds made recovery much easier. I was able to stop the meds early, but no need to be a hero initially. There are a lot more important things you need to think about. Like mainly getting better and taking care of the new babies (& getting home to your other ones).

How long did they tell you to continue meds? I'm not sure when to cut norco and I'd probably err on the side of early.

I think they gave me enough for 6 weeks but I stopped on the 4th week (from what I recall)
nomnom If you're ready to be off it, then so be it, but I absolutely needed it for the first 10 days!
I'm being stingy. My norco Rx was for 20 pills, so I figured that was my allotment. MH said that doctors just don't give out large quantities at once so the don't get flagged as dealers. I certainly could still use it.
My home health nurse also suggested doing a Percocet with an extra strength Tylenol if 1 Percocet wasn't enough and if I didn't want to take 2. It helped me wean off of them while still managing the pain.
