Haven't done much meat yet. Only a few pieces of meatball once. I guess I should do that. Especially cuz the whole fruit and veggie diet isn't really filling.
This thread is giving me some good ideas! Ok, here's a FTM question....how small should I cut up berries and things? Like, half a blueberry? I want to be sure I'm giving them the right size.

pbandj714 with raisins and dries blueberries I just give them to her. Fresh blueberries I would probably cut in half, my toddlers preschool doesn't even let the two year old have whole blueberries 🙄 With blackberries and strawberries I just held it and she took bites. With apples I'll share with her, either I bite off a little bit bigger than pea size pieces or I hand her an apple slice. I also give her slices of peaches but they get slippery.

I halve blueberries. DD was obsessed with blueberries and I couldn't cut them fast enough...a great day when I didn't have to do that anymore. I might quarter grapes at this age.
When did you start doing multiple solid meals a day? We're still just doing a couple bites at dinner time, and then maybe a bite of our lunch or breakfast if it's something he might like.

GOmamab15, whenever you want, I think? My ped said she wanted him at three "meals" per day by around 9 months. I only told daycare they could feed him solids a couple weeks ago, at 7.5 months-ish.
GOmamab15 we started with just a couple of bites of solids at dinner time when she was 6 months, at 7 months we started feeding her at lunch too. I think we'll carry on with this and introduce breakfast at 8 months. I'm not stressing about the quantity that she eats (varies by a lot), we are just having her try lots of things.
We are probably 75% finger foods and 25% purees. We do a lot of what was mentioned above, toast with peanut butter, steamed veggies, sliced fruit, avocado, homemade meatballs, shredded chicken, cheese.
Kevinmac my LO won't let me feed him, he only likes to feed himself.
pbandj714 yes breakfast will be hard, I don't eat breakfast at home usually so that will be different. But I totally did a handful of cherrios for dinner last night!
Thanks for all the ideas!! R got to try pieces of blueberry today and shredded cheese. He LOVED the blueberries. He was grinning and forcing my hand to his mouth.
I'm so nervous about choking that I chop everything into the tiniest pieces. I wish I wasn't such a scaredy cat because he likes holding food and feeding himself.
DD mostly just has purées and puffs for now. She really gagged a lot on puffs at first, so I've been hesitant to give her real food. She's improved a lot though so I'll give her real food soon.
Ughhh. Breakfast is going to add soo much time to our morning routine. Am I the only one who feels this way?
My morning routine always had to feed the big kid. And get her dressed. Which is sometimes a battle. So P gets put in her chair and slowly given finger foods for like an hour while I run around and get everything else done. We leave the house 1.5-2 hours after waking. It's exhausting.
I gave him Cheerios on his tray last night. He liked holding them but gagged when he tried them. I'm going to try giving him little pieces of stuff we eat this week while we are away.

That sounds exhausting. We have to leave by 7 am. DNW to have to wake them at 5...they'd have to go to bed the second we get home from the sitter for that to work. Sounds like the sitter gets to do breakfast...hah.

I have to leave at 6:30 two days per week. Those days the daycare DEFINITELY does breakfast. No way around it. He normally wakes naturally between 5:30 and 6 so there's time for a bottle and a snuggle but not much else. The other days I usually leave around 7:45 and we manage to find time for some solids.
Evenings are a problem. I am usually home by 6, which means barely time for dinner and getting ready for 7pm bedtime. Some days I work late and DH has to do everything and I don't even get bedtime snuggles. Those days make me sad
Daycare does breakfast. There is no way I could get that together in the morning. We need to start pushing more actual food. Though she is still a gagger.
