We had chicken Kiev for dinner and it was delicious. H picked up a bottle of Pouilly Fuisse as a V-Day gift from DS so I'm enjoying that while he does bedtime
Oh but I did get a little recognition/award thing from work for work that I did last week. Our thing is a point system that can be applied towards gift cards or merchandise so that's cool. It isn't a lot($25) but still
Treat yo'self.
Right! And my birthday is next week so the timing is nice
So, daycare sent photos of DD (1yo) in a diaper on a couch in front of a valentines backdrop posing with necklaces, heart glasses, flowers, etc. It's cute. Still, I'm kinda like... why did you take my kid's clothes off to take pictures of her? Should I say something? I want to say, "hey the pictures were cute, but can she please be dressed for future photos?"
Am I that Mom? I know that means I am, but on a scale of 1-10, how bad?
This is really fucking weird and I wouldn't be ok with it. Especially if they didn't tell you ahead of time.
I didn't know if this was me being craxly preggers but ya this is weird

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
I left work a little early to surprise DD by picking her up at school. Her excitement always makes me feel bad I can't do it more often. We went to a pop-up bakery and bought some cookie cupcakes. Hopefully they're good.
And I felt bad because DH rocked Valentine's for me (he drew me an exact replicate of a picture from my favorite show) and I did nothing. I guess a bj later will do lol!
MH didn't do anything for Valentine's. Not for me, not for the girls. We have plans to go out to dinner Thursday, but I had told him I wanted to cancel because I haven't been feeling great and I don't want to go out and spend a bunch of money on fancy food if I won't enjoy it. Things have been kind of shitty lately, and in the past VD has always been special for us, even if low key. I am sad. I thought he would at least get a little treat or flower for each of the girls.
I mean, did you talk about doing something for the girls?
No, but he's always gotten flowers for us all in past years, like roses for me and 1 for each of the girls last year for example.

That sounds like someone was drinking the Pinterest koolaid with all the pictures of little girls in a diaper and pearls and shit.
@sweptaway I get what you're saying. I didn't have high expectations because things haven't been great between us lately. He has always done something on Valentine's Day every year we've been together though, so... I guess I just hoped for something small to show I don't know, something.

MH surprised me with a huge slice of cookie cake for dessert tonight. I was totally shocked and touched because he normally doesn't think of stuff beyond a card. I'm about to hurt myself with sugar 🍰🍰🍰🍰

Jumping in to say happy Valentine's Day!
Waiting on Italian take-out. My kids are playing nicely. H scheduled a Sephora consultation for me this weekend. He says he has a surprise that goes with dinner, I hope it's alcohol.

Also, we recently acquired a trampoline in the backyard. DD keeps wanting me to jump with her, and then I realize I should've done more kegles when pregnant.

Yeah if he's always done it and didn't this year I get being disappointed. I didn't realize that.
I had a lot of coworkers today saying "oh we never do anything" and in the same breath being upset they didn't get flowers or whatever. IDK it's just odd to me.
But my H has never been one for romantic gestures so maybe I just set my bar low, haha
That is odd.
We don't have a specific Valentine's Day tradition per se, but he's pretty good with romantic things and surprises - which can be big or small, but I remember them and I notice when they are lacking.
I did plan to get him a card, just didn't get to it today after being snowed in yesterday. I was going to suggest takeout and opening one of our nicer bottles of wine but i got home and it was weird and he already opened a different bottle. We're just not on the same page and our VD is reflecting that. 😞

So is going to be late so I bought steaks to cook instead of takeout. I got dd her Taco Bell so she will be ready for bed and we can have a date night in

I did some quality fabric shopping today. I'm making a quilt for my daughter's class. I never knew how hard finding cohesive fabric was for quilts, more so when her classroom theme is coral reefs/under the sea.
Anyways, no big Valentine's plans. I'm making burrito bowls for dinner, and I'm making my DH's favorite dessert. I plan on hitting the garage later.
Later he'll come home and listen to me blather on about our DW plans/Fastpass strategy. 💕💕💕💕💕
That sounds similar to my night. DH's family is being the worst about selecting rides and times. "I'd like to do test track, but not before 10am. Why do we have to ride this ride together? We shouldn't need passes for Frozen, right?" WTF do you have to do before 10am? We are trying to do 1-2 out of the dozens of rides we will ride each day together, it's a family trip. IM SURE THERE WONT BE A WAIT FOR A RIDE THEMED AFTER THR MOST POPULAR MOVIE OF THR DECADE. Have you never Disneyed before? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
DH is working so I'm home with the baby. It's not like I'm not used to being alone on V-Day. Marrying a cook is not condusive to spending Valentine's together. It is still kind of a bummer to see everyone instagramming their romantic meals. Time to get off social media
We just ordered pasta to go and are off to pick up dd. I was going to get stuff to make chocolate covered strawberries but I'm craving cupcakes so I think we'll pick some up on the way and a balloon for DD since she was talking about them this morning.
I had a lovely Galentine's Day with my lady friends last night. Got a pedi and I now have some fresh black toenails. Then we feasted on apps and sushi with lots of drinks.
I have chocolate covered strawberries, tiramisu, and wine in my fridge for tonight. Sushi has been ordered and will be picked up after the kids are in bed. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is on deck.

I wanted chocolate covered strawberries too but I didn't have time and the ones at the store didn't look good
