DD is 2.5 and has peed on the potty six times and pooped two nights in a row. All without not really any actual training and no prompting from us. She has told us when she needed to go.
I'm starting the three day method tomorrow. We will have five days to comit to it before DD goes back to DC on Tuesday. DC says when she comes back to just put her in undies and bring tons of extra clothes, socks, shoes etc.
Please tell me all the things!
I feel she has showed signs of readiness as we haven't pushed it at all. I'm starting it now because her private preschool education all depends on if she is "fully independent in the bathroom" by September (just before her 3rd birthday) Is this unrealistic? I am thinking so.
Do I just put her in undies and bring her every half hour or so? She insisted on wearing pull ups today for DC. I'm thinking of still using either pull ups or diapers for nap/bed time even though I hear it's not reccomended.
Thanks for your input @loonylove & @surelycantbesrs
I do have some Gerber training pants to try. And I was also thinking of doing undies under the pull ups as well. yes @surelycantbesrs about the fresh hell of being cooped up all day but I don't want to get stuck with an accident in her car seat. Maybe I can try putting pads down or something. I'll see how it goes first probably before venturing out.
Also I think we will just focus on day time training and do either diapers or pull ups at night/nap. I'm worried about night though as she always has to sleep with a sippy of water. Should I be cutting this out?

We had a potty training deadline as well. For a different perspective, training pants, pull ups, etc. did not work for us at all. She didn't care if she peed in them and she certainly didn't care about feeling wet. After 2 frustrating days with absolutely no success, I finally just had her go bare butt and that's when she finally figured it out. She had very few accidents after that.
If your DD has already peed and pooped on the potty, it will probably be easy to fully train her. My DD took forever to simply make the connection that that's what we wanted her to do.

Lurker here but I just did the 3 day potty training about 6 weeks ago. My son turned 3 in October but a few other things were going on in life so potty training took a backseat.
He had been wearing underwear over his diaper and using the potty upon getting up for the day, before nap and before bed.
When I put aside the 3 days I tweaked the online suggestions I had researched.
Day 1: underwear and potty every 15 mins. He got half a bite sized KitKat for every pee in the potty. He had about 5 accidents that day. We did a diaper at nap and bed.
Day 2: underwear and potty every 30 mins. Same reward but a full bit sized KitKat for poop. No accidents, asked to used the potty and poop in the potty that night. Diaper at nap and bedtime. Dry diapers and no accidents.
Day 3: underwear and potty every 45 mins. Same rewards, asking for potty, etc. Dry diapers and no accidents.
Day 4: underwear and an hour between potty breaks. Same rewards, asking for potty etc. No diaper at nap just bed.
No accidents since that first day. No nap diaper . He wears on at night because he's nervous. His overnight diapers have been dry for months but he insists on a night time one.
On day 4 I was making a cake for a neighbor and had left over mix. I made him a mini cake and surprised him after dinner with it. We called it his poop day cake and say Happy Poop Day to you to the tune of Happy Birthday. After two weeks of no accidents and asking to use the potty, he got to pick out a small new Buzz Lightyear toy.
He really liked picking out new underwear and using our toilet. I bought him the seat to put on ours.
His pedi said in his 40 yrs of practice, that kids almost 3 or a little over 3 were the most successful as far as retention and regression. Everyone thought I was crazy for waiting so long but my 7 yr old nephew and 4 year old neice still aren't potty trained and my SIL HAD to start them at 18 months.
If you're at home, and it's warm enough indoors, can she run around with no pants on? My DD potty trained herself by spending days with no pants on outside in summer.

This could be a possibility! Thanks! She does prefer to be naked lol.
Thanks @unicornofthesea! I'm really nervous for car trips.
Put some sort of pee pad down too!
Good idea. I do have a few of those heavy duty pads that they place underneath you at L&D so hopefully that works! I'm sure by the end of day one I'll be itching to get out of the house! Thanks again!
We used the Oh Crap Potty Training method which some people love and some despise. We were not religious to it because I didnt get a chance to get the book until we had already started. DS was also a potty champ and I know that I got lucky.
I am super pro no pants for the first couple days and commando for a week at least after that. My DS was only taking a short nap at that time, 2 years, and does no nap now at 2.5, so we didnt have to worry about a diaper for that, but he is still in a diaper at night and it is something that we are just going to begin on working on now because we have some other nighttime issues that take precedence.
Ok so day one here! She tolerated her big girl underware for her first pee on the potty of the day but now insists on being naked so I'm just rolling with it! FX!
I don't think you should just take her to the bathroom every half hour and have her try. But you should ASK. If she says no, you'll just need to trust her and she will also learn the sensation of needing to pee and if she has an accident will learn she doesn't like to feel wet and ultimately will make the connection b/w the urge to pee and needing to get to the potty. Definitely get a little potty and have it in her line of sight the whole five days at home. That will help her make the connection faster. Sounds like she's pretty aware already. We took that little potty with us EVERYWHERE for probably 3 weeks and asked if it could be in our son's eye line even at DC. For a week at DC he just had constant accidents but would be fine at home. Finally after a week he felt comfortable telling someone. You might give her a specific person on the first day back and say...tell Ms. so and so when you need to go potty and she will help you.
And pull ups when they're sleeping until they don't wake up wet anymore. From all I've read, unless you wake kids up to pee, being able to hold your pee all night or wake up from the urge to pee is a developmental thing so just give that time.

Thanks so much! Yes I've just been asking her all the time! So far two pees, two poops on the actual potty and one Poop accident 😩 She's been mostly on the big potty with the insert but we just moved into the living room with her little Elmo potty right next to her. She is insisting on being naked lol! I need to invest in the travel potty ASAP! Thanks so much! ☺️
I also talked to DC and they told me to send her in underware when she goes back on Tuesday and just bring tons of extra clothes, socks etc. They aren't able to give her m&m's (like we do at home) but they are going to start a sticker chart for her and say she will get m&m's for each sticker once she gets home.
wedding, yeah you're right. I think the book I read which is Oh, Crap! Potty Training says it more like...let's go potty instead of "do you want to go?" But not to push it if they say no because even the accident is part of learning. And it can make them more stressed about it.
For us, taking him and having him sit on the toilet every 30 minutes did not work because he was not making the connection b/w urge to pee and going to the toilet.
She fell asleep on the couch buck ass naked 😩😩😩 I've made a huge tiny mistake...
You need to get some dog pee pads to slip under her.
Luckily she didn't pee. Thank God! 🙌🏻 Rookie mistake. I do have some of those thick pads they place under you at L&D so will use them moving forward and in the car.

I'm going to try the three day method this weekend. For the last month and a half she's been in pull ups all day and doing...ok. We ask her about every hour while she's at home and if she says she doesn't have to go, we listen to her. Sometimes she even tells us she has to go and we take her. But, she's still peeing in her pull ups. We keep telling her she has to tell us whenever she needs to go. She says she understands but clearly she doesn't. She does tell us when she has peed or pooped though. The other night she was naked in a towel after a bath and she said "I pooped in the towel". I acted like it was NBD and just reminded her to tell us next time.
She is waking up dry so this morning first thing we put her on the potty and she went right away. The last two nights however she's told us she has to go and when we put her on the potty she doesn't go. It's more frustrating for me because I don't know why it's happening all of a sudden.
Day 2 here of naked time and staying home alllllll day. She slept in a pull up last night and had a pee accident early this morning. After that she had a few pees on the potty and one giant poop on the potty with no freak outs! I've been asking her constantly and she's actually told me every time she's had to go and actually went. However there have been a few times where she has said she had to go and didn't but acted like she did. Don't know what's up with that?
I'm really no help here @northernlgts but I hope the three day method works for you this weekend! GL! I'll be living here for the next few days if you need to vent or exchange notes!

She's probably just looking for the praise she gets when she goes.
I've been praising her for sitting and trying should I be doing anything else here?

No. She might just try to fake you out to get the praise. DS still fakes it sometimes.
Ok thanks! I'm thinking that she's doing it to get the praise and m&m's. I've just been giving her one for sitting and trying. Even though she says she peed when she really didn't.
So far only that one early morning per accident yesterday and no accidents so far today! It's still very early though! FX. She is refusing to put on any clothes or underware. She will eventually want to wear clothes again right? 😩

First accident before nap time today. I know around when she usually poops and I wanted to try and get her there before she pooped in her underwear. The thing is she knows when she's pooped, she tells me right after she's done it and she ran to the bathroom right after she did it to get cleaned up. We acted like it was NBD and just reminded her to tell us before next time. Is there anything else I can be doing or just give it more time?

I think it's good that you acted like it was no big deal and just told her to tell you guys next time. DD just pooped on the floor and I did the same and she finished on the toilet. How old is your DD? I'm really not much help and I'm sorry for that! I'm just learning myself! Good luck to you and hope it gets better!
So one poop accident today. I had her in pull-ups for nap and it was pretty full by the time she got up. She did pee a few times on the potty and finished the rest of the poop on the toilet. I'm hoping it gets better as she will be in undies from now on at DC. She goes back Tuesday so luckily we still have some time.

DD does well with telling us when she has to go but I was still finding her pull ups would be wet sometimes so I thought "3 day weekend, what the hell, let's try underwear". For day 1, we had a good day. She likes wearing them and is excited about it too. We'll keep trying with pooping. Not sure what I am going to do about daycare this week.
