Toddler and Preschooler Check-in (2/15)

Age: 2.5

Milestones: He's starting to speak in sentences a lot more, and he's getting into singing songs.

Challenges: He hates being told no, but welcome to life, kid.

Funny/cute stories: He was so excited about his bag of valentines from daycare yesterday. His first valentines party.

How are you? So much better. I talked to my sister, so things are better there, and I just feel more upbeat in general.

Anything else? Nope.

QOTW: What is your little one's style? Pretty classic and comfortable. Khakis, jeans, long t-shirts, some button-downs. I avoid superheros or too many sayings, and I am really trying to avoid the endless gray options for boys.

DS is 16 months

He had another week of word explosion, and I swear he said at least one new word each day. Also, I'm fairly confident he's up to 50+, which blows my damn mind.

He's got 8 molars coming in simultaneously, so yeah, that's been fun. Biggest issue is trying to find something he can eat since our go-tos include crackers, cheerios, etc. And as always, the tantrums.

He's started saying bye and waving consistently. Except he says it "byeeeeeeeee." And he says it over and over and over again to everyone (including the pets) individually. Even if he's just leaving the room and coming back in a few seconds later.

Work can suck a dick.

QOTW: He's received quite a few preppy clothes (polos, khakis, etc), but we normally dress him in jeans and a t-shirt since he's a messy eater.

Milestones: More sentences, counting, story-telling.

Challenges: I have this tendency to ask him before I do things, like,"Can mommy clip your nails?" Well, now he knows "No." and it's making me realize I should be phrasing things like,"And now mommy will clip your nails."

Funny/cute stories: At our gym class the other day the teacher asked who knows their ABC's. Dylan chimed up,"A B C B 1 2 3 double X!" No idea where that came from...

How are you? Good, no complaints!

Anything else? Nope.

QOTW: What is your little one's style? (AKA: How do you dress your kiddo?) Lots of sweatpants and casual comfort style clothes. Once my boss made a comment how her boys were the best dressed kids around. All I could think was,"Your poor nannies who had to deal with changing them..." So I make sure my babysitters don't have to deal with that.

Age: 22.5 months

Milestones: putting words together, i could have sworn he said "love you"back to me this morning.
Challenges: He's got a double ear infection which has triggered his asthma, so it's been a miserable few days.

Funny/cute stories: While he's been sick he's been talking in his sleep, or talking because he's delusional I'm not sure haha. He will be whining, and blurt out random words he knows "pooh" "rock" "moon" "whoo!" it's funny.
How are you? ok. pregnancy and work stress.

Anything else? nope

QOTW: What is your little one's style? (AKA: How do you dress your kiddo?) I'm all about matching, and comfort. That's about it. I like garanimals.

Age: 3.5 years

Milestones: is getting to be more and more independent... now in the morning he'll get up, take off his overnight diaper (yup we're still in those...) get dry PJs if needed, and heads downstairs to play. LOL

Challenges: He's three. 'Nuff said... -_-

Funny/cute stories: 2-3 times now in the past week, we're driving to daycare in the morning, and he just randomly blurts out, "I looooooove preschool."

How are you? a bit tired today... some 3 year old got scared last night around 3am (after I'd already been up for about an hour waiting for a headache to subside with the help of 3 extra strength Tylenol...) and then as I'm shushing him back to sleep, I hear the 1-year-old in her crib notice me - I froze, thinking PLEASE GO BACK TO SLEEP, BOTH OF YOU!

QOTW: I used to dress him all dapper (suspenders! news boy hat!) and then he got an opinion, so now it's all sweatpants and thermals (kid has something against jeans and button shirts... -_- )

Age: about 14 months...

Milestones: she waves bye bye now (she's definitely "behind" older brother was in terms of speaking) but she's totally comprehending SO MUCH... "come sit in my lap to read a book" and "go give that toy to [Button]" and "do you want chicken?" (emphatically shakes her head no)

Challenges: she gets so dang clingy when we get home in the evening... and it's hard then handling snacks for them both, getting dinner going, getting the dogs out to potty - and hubby doesn't get home usually for another 1-1.5 hours after us...

Funny/cute stories: Button ran/knocked into her pretty hard the other day (on accident - in a hurry to get elsewhere) and when I made him come back, apologize, and ask her if she was ok, she leaned in and rested her forehead on his, like a "I'm ok, thanks..."

How are you? see above re: tired...

QOTW: she's got an eclectic wardrobe (just like her momma lol) from the fancy cable-knit (faux-fur-lined hood) sweater to the hand-me-down Disney Princesses T-shirt (I always said I did NOT like the cartoon-character clothing. Now? I couldn't care less. lol)

Age: 3.75

Mikestines: I can't think of anything right now. She's been steady eddy this week.

Challenges: Baby voice and 16 year old attitude. It's like she's trying to show off with the baby voice, but kill me with the attitude. FX this voice thing passes soon. I'm prepared for the attitude to stick around (unfortunately).

Funny/cute stories: J's been watching me pump and has been enamored with my boobs. She told MH she's going to have big boobies like Daddy (not Mommy) when she grew up LOL He wasn't as amused.

How are you? Not great. Just trying to survive these days.

Anything else? Just praying we can bring C home next week. It's still not a sure thing. I'm just glad a lot of the really REALLY scary possibilities are past us.

QOTW: Well, J's been dressing herself for a while. Her style is pretty eclectic. For example, today she's wearing a pink shirt, pink leggings, and pink-and-white striped socks. But yesterday she wore a really cute peplum shirt with leggings, so it's all over the place LOL As look as she's weather appropriate, I don't fight about what she wears.
