Morning ladies, not much going on here! L has his audiology appointment this Wednesday. We went to church yesterday, outside the songs, we missed everything!?! lol I had to nurse him, but he liked the songs so yay for that. It was nice that people even friends didn't invade my bubble.
When do we start enrichment stuff with baby? I feel like I'm missing opportunities to teach L stuff. But what to teach!?! Lol We do tummy time, he has a teepee with a mobile and a mirror in the middle but what else do I do with my non-napper?
cheshie6, you really can't do a whole lot with a baby at this point. I just talk to L, basically about random nothing and she's a great listener, so there's that 😉! She might even be the only one in this house that listens to me!
AFM, L is at daycare and H and I are home with DS. He got ear tubes in this morning, so we're just chillin on the couch watching tv. I'm hoping he goes down for a long nap shortly so I can nap myself and maybe check in at work.
DH is off today; he and B are out doing errands so I'm home with the baby. It's nice having some quiet time with just her.
waitwhat Totally get what you mean about your H cramping your style. As much as I enjoy having the extra hands when my husband is home, I feel like my 'space' is being invaded and it drives me a little nuts.
tgrimes1980 hope you feel better soon. Sorry for the rough start--if only telling these kids to 'act right' would help!

O slept amazing last night! 830-430 then till 630 when I woke him up. On sat night I felt his swaddle was getting too tight around his neck so I decided to try a different one and leave his arms out. He slept that same schedule 2 nights in a row now! So here's hoping it's not a fluke!
The car seat drama continues... we went car seat shopping on sat and he ended up fitting best in the chicco keyfit. So that's what we bought. I love it so far. I bought the adapter for our citi mini stroller which is not working out! It's so much harder than the britax adapter! The car seat doesn't really click in securely either. I think I'm going to return it and get the car seat caddy until he's big enough to use the citi mini... bye money...

It's a holiday so it's been a good Monday. With my parents visiting, we went to an outdoor market type place that also has lots of dirt trails. Another bright sunny, just slightly chilly day. Felt great to be outside. And now O is napping upstairs, E is napping on my lap, H went to work for a few hours, and my parents went for a walk. I am sitting in quiet.
And tonight we are going for authentic neopalitan brick oven pizza. I am excited.

danib my sister let her kids sleep on their tummies. If you're worried, could you limit it to the times when you are awake (naps, or if he has an earlier bedtime than you) or in the early morning when you are in a lighter sleep?

I'm a super light sleeper when I have a kid next to me. I think I'll keep trying him on his back, but if it's bad I might give in and put him on his belly. Once he starts rolling consistently I'll feel more comfortable.
I know, I can't wait for consistent rolling, therefore tummy sleeping.
danib I started tummy sleeping DS at 3 months old. It was the only way he would sleep. I felt okay about it because I also am an incredibly light sleeper with a baby next to me (and he was right next to me), and because while not rolling consistently, he was extremely strong and able to pick up his head to turn it to one side or the other. I know it's still not technically "okay" but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Teachers don't get today off here, so DH is at work. We went and sold some books to Half Price and went to Michael's. I got Lillian some "magic" paint and a smock so that she can paint inside. It rained a ton last night so the playscape and yard are wet.
Going to get dh in about an hour and then we'll go to the store for a few things. That's about all we have planned. I really want a bath. I'm so sore from the weekend.
Hi! I survived my first day back to work. I'm exhausted and hiding in my room nursing my babe to sleep. My eyes are tired from staring at my computer screen all day. I was pretty impressed that I was able to get to work on time with minimal issues. It didn't hurt that it is a federal holiday so traffic was lighter than usual. I need to put C in bed and go wash my pump parts but I think I'm going to hide out for a few more minutes.

Well today kind of flew by and I didn't do much of anything today. C slept just OK last night. He was still up every couple hours but it wasn't as bad as the night before. He took a 3 hour nap this afternoon so I'm really hoping the whole sleep begets sleep thing happens tonight. I just gave him a bath and I'm topping him off with a bottle hoping all of these things will equal more sleep.
We don't have anything planned for tomorrow but I want to get out of the house. There's a mom and baby group I want to check out that has classes for C's age on Tuesdays but I don't know if I should take him with his cough. He's pretty much over the cold but I don't know if he's still contagious and I don't want to be that mom. It might have to wait until next week.
So we attempted a trip to Target and I'm feeling like I can't go anywhere anymore!?! By the time I get done feeding, get L ready to go, out the door, etc. I have maybe an hour to get there and back before he's hungry again! But Target (and most stores "near" me) are 30 minutes or more away. L was inconsolable and normally he falls asleep as I walk around but not today!?! (I wear him) He's been weird since the start of his 3rd leap! He wakes up crying but like sleep crying! He didn't seem to go thru the purple cry phase, could this be it or his crappy nap ability? I feel so inept!

cheshie6 I get you on not being able to go anywhere! It's like I have to pick 1 place, forget going multiple places. And before I go out the door he has to be napped, fed and changed. Then I'm on a time limit! I have a less than 1.5 hour before he melts down! It's taking some getting use to.

Yes and with everything so far away... I feel like I fail no matter what I do!

cheshie6 and cookswithwine9, I can promise you that it does get easier! Especially once they are really on a predictable schedule of napping.
Do either of your little guys like car naps? And are they good at sleeping through stuff once the car stops? My DS was a terrible sleeper at home but he was easy to go out with because he'd sleep in the car and continue to sleep in the carseat at our destination. So that was sometimes how I'd get him to take one decent nap during the day--nurse him before I left, drive 25 minutes to Target, spend an hour shopping, drive 25 minutes home--boom, a 2ish hour nap, and he was ready to nurse again when we got back.
This baby on the other hand sleeps fabulously in the car but wakes up the second we stop. Fortunately she is mellow so I can still run my errands with her awake in the shopping cart, but I can't count on driving+errand for getting her to take a long nap. So if your babies are more like that then I guess the above was a pretty useless suggestion.

cheshie6 and cookswithwine9 how do you feel about/ do you ever, nurse in public? It's a little cold for nursing in the car so I would just go sit in the Starbucks (assuming there is one in your Targets) and try to get through a pleasant shopping trip that way.
dashook, right now L wakes up when we open the door or after a few minutes of realizing we're not moving/vibrating! (It depends on the day) He's also sleeping less in the car in general! He used to sleep in car, wake when door opened but fall back to sleep once in the bobba wrap! Lately, he's been fighting naps tooth and nail but will sleep almost 8 hours at night!?!
hangry, I'm still kind of skittish about nursing in public. I need the nipple shield because once L gets the pressure off, my nipple goes back to being flat and he won't latch on.
cheshie6 I have a friend IRL who is having the same NIP struggle because of a need for a nipple sheild. I don't have experience or advice unfortunately. I just hope it all works out for you!
cheshie6 I can commiserate. I used the nipple shield the entire 16 months I nursed DS. It can make things more difficult definitely. It sounds like your L is more like my D with the sleeping. That is hard and it's easy to feel trapped inside, especially in winter.
Re: fighting the naps, if it's any comfort, D was fighting them hard for a while but stopped doing so about a week and a half ago. L is 2 weeks younger than her so maybe your reprieve is right around the corner!
danib, our target doesn't have a nursing room that I've ever seen, maybe they are in the bigger targets!?!
Mine doesn't either. It's a pretty big store but no nursing room.
I'm relatively sure ours doesn't either. It's a Super Target, too. I usually just nurse Lilah in the car. The only place I know of that has a nice nursing room is Nordstrom's in the mall.

dashook O won't nap anywhere but at home where it's quiet and dark. It's very limiting. He is awake the entire car ride and shopping time. Which is why he gets over tired and starts melting down. I always heard take a drive to get the baby to sleep... not this one!
hangry I have never nursed in public. I just can't get my head around being comfortable with it. But I understand that is why I am so limited in how long I can be gone.
What I'm finding online is targets are letting nursing mothers use their changing rooms not a special designated nursing area. There are mixed reviews online about it! But their policy is to not disturb a nursing mother at all no matter what or where she's nursing.
