A manual check or an ultrasound check? I have ultrasound checks of mine every scan (so, weekly now) but I've never had a manual/digital one even with DD1. I don't think they're necessary based on my research and wouldn't let my Ob perform that this time around even if he wanted to.

I've only been having cervical length checks because I have a history of a "dynamic" cervix. During my singleton pregnancy it would be on the short side, then get longer, then under 2.5 cm, back up to 3.5-4 cm, etc.
They are being cautious during this pregnancy because of that. I have checks every two weeks from 12-24 weeks. If everything looks good at 24 weeks they will discontinue these checks.
Cervical length checks via ultrasound only happened until 28 weeks for me. They said that because if it hadn't shown any signs of shortening by then, then it won't be an indicator of preterm labor.
And I only had 1 manual internal check for dilation. That was at 36 weeks when we scheduled my induction for 37 weeks.
I don't think I ever had a "routine" cervical check. I did have a handful of manual checks when I went in for contractions and other complications- but in all honesty, I was at a teaching hospital and I don't know that all the OBs on call really understood what to do with me. I also had a few "unneccessary" ultrasounds for practice sake (always with my permission).
I have had cervical length checks every 2 weeks starting at 16 weeks and will continue until 24 weeks. I believe after that they will stop for me as a PP stated - if it hasn't shortened by then - preterm labor due to shortened cervix is unlikely.
I haven't had a manual cervical check since 8 weeks when I first saw my OB, they did check with my u/s while they could still see using abd. approach. I am supposed to have a cervical check at 35 weeks but I'm honestly thinking of asking her to hold off until 36 weeks.
