OK, I'm gonna put my dilemma here and maybe get some advice. I need to make a Drs appt to schedule my 1st appt and do the dating US and all that. I want to schedule it tomorrow because with A I couldn't be seen until 12 weeks, and I'd like to get in sooner this time. Anyways, my dilemma is that I don't know which provider to contact because I don't know if I want to attempt a vbac or not. I had planned a super natural, crunchy birth and then ended up having a c-section with A. If I have a repeat section, I'd like to go back to the same guy who did my first, because he was really good and I had a great experience at that hospital. If I try for a vbac, I want to see a group of midwives who have privileges at a different hospital. So I need to make this decision, but I'm struggling. On the one hand, I would really like to try for vbac, much for the same reasons I wanted an intervention free birth the first time around. But I read that if you do that you have to be hooked up to an IV, fetal monitor, no eating, etc. Which isn't a great thing if you are trying to do it med free. On the other hand, I had a great experience with my c-section and it is familiar to me. Thanks for letting me ramble about this. I would normally ask my mom for advice, but I don't think I'm going to tell her until later next week.

flippinchica, FieryMama, well add me to the mean mom club. M also hates that I won't let him play with the steak knife that we discovered he can now reach from the drawer (time to re-organize), or hang off of the stove door, or bite my feet. We are all such mean mommy's.

Hmm zonagirl that is a hard call. I also wanted a crunchy birth and narrowly avoided a section but had all the other interventions (pitocin, epidural). Why did you need a section? Fetal distress, failure to progress, positioning? Do you plan to have more kids or do you think you are done with 2?
flippinchica A was breech and they didn't catch it until I was 38 weeks. My birth center sucked, but that's a different story. I think we might be done after 2, but I'm open to a third too. I think, after writing it our and thinking some more, I am going to go ahead and try for a vbac. I will probably have an epidural because I don't really want to try for a med free birth while being hooked up to machines and not eating. No thanks to that.

Took M for a haircut and went to a friends for a play date. He is napping now, and I should be working, but I have my period bad, and all I want to do is eat and veg out. I may or may not have had one too many beers last night and feeling slightly hung over as well.
That is all
I also want to check in with some of our other A15 mom's but I can't remember all their tags. LOL.

ampaints true. Also, I realize I'm jumping way, way ahead of things since I'm only five weeks. I just felt like I needed to make somewhat of a decision about it so I know who to call tomorrow.

I would say that since your cs was for breach presentation you are probably a good candidate to try for a vbac assuming this one isn't Breech as well. Most obs definitely want continuous monitoring for a vbac but some places have wireless monitors so you can move around. I will say I made a big deal about eating and drinking in my birth plan but once I got to the hospital I had no desire to eat or drink. Even laboring at home I only had a bit of watermelon. I was spiraling the other day on providers as well even though I'm not ku yet. DS was born about 28 hours after my water broke and I know with most ob's I would have been pressured to have a section and now I'm in a different town with a high city wide c-section rate. I'm highly considering a midwife group that practices under the same umbrella group as obs.
flippinchica I had a group that had 3 midwives in addition to the OBs. It was a great experience for me. They let go 32 hours after my water broke. I still ended up with a c section, but i really felt that we tried every reasonable intervention before it was decided.

zonagirl, if you're interested in the vbac, it might be worth it to have an appointment with the midwives group, talk it over and share your concerns. And then if it just doesn't seem feasible, you could go back to the original doc.
Also, obviously no shame in an epidural, but FWIW, with the right providers, a med free birth is possible while hooked up to monitors and ivs. I had wanted a crunchy birth too, but ended up needing monitoring and to be induced bc of pre-eclampsia at 37+ weeks. While I was hooked up to machines, I was also able to bounce on a yoga ball while hooked up and do some other pain coping exercise, and I did manage a med free (except for induction meds) birth. But having a provider who was supportive and experienced with that was key.
@th3strck3r yes but you are a badass who runs marathons, and I am a big baby. It was going to be a miracle if I made it med free under the best of circumstances, haha But seriously, that is encouraging to hear that it can be done!
H spent THREE HOURS on the Xbox today. 😐😒😲 then DS wanted to play. 😣😣 I noticed today that his car seat in my parents' car was um....expired. Now I am looking at car seats I can pick up this weekend to replace. Looking at the Graco Tranzitions.
Amazon.com is having a sale on car seats. There's a sticky about it.

S1 friend's birthday party was a blast. They had it at a nature centers. The kids got to pet a turtle and a snake. They also got to tap a maple tree to get syrup. Super fun!
I've been battling a migraine all day. I might need to call my doctor because my migraines are happening more frequent in the last few months.

We went to Babies R Us and did the trade in event and used our card so got 30% discount off a seat. The sticky post was what started me down a rabbit hole of research.
We went to a local brewery this afternoon and hung out with some friends. We even got to see a friend that we only see a few times a year, but she hadn't actually met M yet. He was quite smitten with her, and it was adorable.
Thanks for the well wishes guys. I've been struggling since it happened and recounting all the details and looking at the pictures (to send) was really difficult.
On a good note though we took a hike this weekend and then h and I reorganized the living room (with the new ikea stuff) and figured out how to protect all electronics from baby hands. 😉 The walk did all of us some good and tonight I think we'll all pass out from the busy weekend.
