So now that I'm at 34 weeks my doctors would no longer try to stop me if I went into labor. So tell me what I need to pack. I plan to have two bags: one for labor and one for post babies since we'll be in 3 different rooms from check in until discharge. So the labor bag will really just have like phone chargers, snacks for DH, etc. the post babies bag will stay in the car until needed and will have my clothes, toiletries, babies stuff. But what specifically should I bring and what should I leave at home.
My hospital did not provide toiletries and baby clothes and blankets weren't supposed to leave with you. They didn't provide pacifiers or wet wipes (they wanted you to use water on dry wipes for diaper changes). They did provide ice packs, squirt bottle, tucks, underwear, pads, lanolin, stool softener, a hospital grade pump and parts, formula and an SNS when we needed to supplement, diapers.

I know they provide blankets, diapers and wipes, and kimono shirts for the babies but I hadn't thought to ask if we get to keep the blankets (we plan to send DH home with them the day before discharge to introduce babies scent to our dogs). And hell no to dry wipes. I'll take a pack of wipes just in case.
Yes we did the tour. They provide pretty much everything for babies (including halo sleep sacks that we get to keep!) and toiletries and such.
That's cool! Or hospital just has you swaddle in the tiny hospital blankets.
They swaddle them in the normal hospital blankets but they send you home with halo sacks (which is awesome!). This hospital is huge on promoting safe sleep habits. Even on the tour we had to place a doll correctly in a crib (remove blankets and stuff that were in there) to show we knew safe practices.
Other than phone chargers what did you really want to have with you during labor?
Drinks or snacks if you're allowed or planning to sneak them. I had coconut water and those honey packs for runners, both allowed. Layers for support people so they can stay comfy while you dictate room temp. I brought a teddy bear, lol. Any meds support people might need (ibuprofen, etc) and snacks and drinks for them too so they can focus on you and not a headache. My hospital recommended bringing your yoga ball as they might not have enough.

We're allowed any snacks they have in the nourishment room. Which I think is all clear stuff like jello, popsicles and sprite. But DH definitely needs to bring his own snacks. The man gets hangry. They also provide birthing balls for everyone and tubs for anyone that wants one so should be good there. I kind of want my own pillow tho. Would that be weird? Should I bring my tablet for Netflix/music or would it probably not get used? I also have to be hooked up to the monitors the entire time so I can only go as far as the cords allow me.

Just make sure your pillow has a colorful pillowcase so you don't lose it. A tablet would probably be nice to have too.

Lurking and figured WTH, I'll jump in. The baby blankets in the hospital were not supposed to leave with us. However, we had a very nice nurse who told us to hide one in our bag and take it when we told her we had hoped to bring one home for the dog before we went home with DS.
Looking back, had she not told us to take one, we could have done so no problem. They always had a few spare blankets in the cabinet under the bassinet. If we took a new blanket, the old one went into a "hamper" bag in our room. We easily could have taken one with out anyone knowing.
Side note on taking things home from the hospital: For us, anything that could be opened (packages of diapers for example), could not be reused for another family. Once it was opened, if we didn't take it, it would be tossed. Take all the goodies!! Even if you don't think you'll use something when you get home (those dry wipes for example), take it anyway!! If you have a nice nurse they may even give you extra (for example, I asked for a second peri bottle so I could have one on each floor of our house and was given one no problem).

Hmmmm maybe I should take some blankets just in case. I know people don't like receiving blankets because they're but they're cheap so maybe I'll pick up a pack of those to use as our baby/dog intro blankets. I don't want to lose the few nice swaddle blankets we have.

I didn't need much when I was actually laboring with DD. I had the TV on in the background but couldn't really focus on it- even when a brand new episode of my very favorite show was on, I "watched" it with my eyes closed so I could stay caught up while resting- so I won't bring my tablet for Netflix this time. I think a re-run of Fresh Prince of Bel Air was on in the background when DD was born and it was nice for background noise but I wasn't really paying attention.
Things I bought/packed for my hospital bag the first time around that I didn't need: Bathrobe- Even in January in MN I was way too hot to relax in it Toiletries- My hospital provided them and they all froze in my hospital bag in the car Snacks/bottled water for DH- he ordered up meals when I did and just paid for his, he barely touched the snacks I packed and used zero of the bottles of water Warm socks- the grippy ones they provided were better Brand new pajamas in the size I thought I would be- lol they did not fit Onesies- I preferred the kimonos provided by the hospital since I didn't have to pull them over her head
Things I was glad I had: Multiple nursing bras and nursing tanks Comfy sweatpants a size up from my norm Breast pump- I didn't end up needing it but it was reassuring to know it was there, my insurance would have had me pay out of pocket to use the hospital's pump

Ah!! PSA babies r us has the Aden and Anais 4 packs of swaddle blankets for $20. So nevermind in receiving blankets. I'll just grab a couple more packs of these instead.

So things I packed in my hospital bag and actually used:
-chapstick -makeup (don't judge haha) -toothbrush - 2 nursing sleep gowns (screw real clothes) - bathrobe - slippers - going home outfit for myself - going home outfit for baby - baby's memory book for footprints/handprints - lots of snacks - camera+charger - phones + chargers -granny panties I didn't care about ruining
For DH: - pajamas - two changes of clothes
That's it. I also packed my yoga mat and ball but my room had one so it stayed in the car. I will be bringing my yoga ball again this time.
Keep in mind that the hospital I delivered gives you everything. Pads, diapers, shirts for baby to wear, squirt bottle, etc.
Yes to the chapstick! My lips were so dry until they put me on the humidified oxygen, that stuff was the best. Also bringing little disposable toothbrush things this time.
Things I had and used: - my own pads (screw the hospital ones, I prefer the thinner always) - my own underwear, yoga pants, tanks, LIGHT robe, and compression socks - toiletries - phone charger - iPad - home outfit for baby
What I wish I had: - wet wipes (I have two packs put aside for the hospital) - gas drops - swaddle blankets or swaddlemes, we only had receiving blankets - extension cord - extra bag for free stuff (I thought we had enough extra room in our bags. Hahaha
What they provided: - ice packs for the lady bits (these are awesome, definitely ask for more) - peri bottles - mesh underwear and giant pads - basic toiletries for mom and baby - diapers, formula, and pacifiers - kimonos for baby - receiving blankets
I packed baby's bag over the weekend as I was working in there with things I wanted to bring...
- two outfits in both NB and 3m for going home (we'll decide when we go to leave what to bring him home in) - gas drops (I'm sneaking these in because they would have been a life saver with Mr FussyPoopyPants that was DS1) - 2 packs of wet wipes - 2 swaddlemes - 2 A&A swaddles - sleep gowns - pacifiers
I'm reminded too much of hospitals to ever own white sheets 😅
We have white sheets! I like white because it matches all comforters. So I switch my duvet cover out frequently for a new look. Also DH sweats and I can bleach white sheets.
Something else I wish I had- a feeding pillow or one with more support than a hospital pillow. DS1 just wanted to be held (normal) but my arms kept getting tired so having a pillow to help rest him on would have been handy

YASSS!!! I brought my boppy pillow to the hospital when I had DD and it was wonderful.
