I've been walking/running on our treadmill pretty regularly for the past ~6 months or so, but stepped up my workouts on Jan 1. The weather was so great this weekend that I decided to run outside. Apparently my treadmill is a lot like running on a feather mattress sitting on a trampoline, because OMG my legs still hurt 2 days later.
Tuesday morning whine. It is Dr. Suess's birthday this week and they usually do a theme week at daycare for it. So I have been asking H who does most drop offs and pick ups to figure out what is going on since late last week. This morning he finally texted me a picture of the themes so naturally we already missed two days of them and now I have to get stuff together for the rest of the week.

My weekend went late. On Friday, I busted my hump cleaning and prepping for DD's bday party, had the party on Saturday, then caught up on the usual weekend-variety chores on Sunday. I decided I was tired, so took Monday off to do some enjoyable, low key things: a trip to Michaels, out for sushi, and constructing a playhouse. My parents are visiting and it was the first time in a long time that I had actually spent time with them without the kids. It was nice. I love my parents.
Tuesday random: I used really awful, cheap shampoo while we were away this weekend because I forgot to pack my nice salon stuff. Now I have this weird film in my hair that WILL NOT wash out. It's gross. Any suggestions for stripping build up out of my hair? I'm googling and finding a lot of random suggestions, so I'm afraid.
somebabiesmom, How did the Trolls dance party go?! Now that my kids are obsessed with the soundtrack, I've been considering that as a theme for their birthday.
Welp, my H is now sick. I left him home with Gatorade, ice chips, a bucket, and my prayers. Poor guy. Told him to focus on survival and staying hydrated and this too shall pass. In related news, we threw away 2 dozen Paczki because they'd been in our house 24 hours and I didn't want to run the risk of infecting anyone else with this bug. So sad.
Anyhow, today is pay day and I feel the need for retail therapy. Just have to decide what exactly I want...

It was a big, big hit with the kids and the parents! Everyone loved: the LED slatted sunglasses, the LED rings (even after the lights stopped working within a couple hours), LED balloons, the DJ light, and the metallic, fringed curtains over the doors. Things that did not make an impression: cardboard cutout Trolls hair, my cupcakes (frosting melted), LED lights that you attached to your fingers.
FWIW, the kids only danced for about 45 minutes before they got bored and started scavenging for toys.

My puzzle-loving, non-crib-building FIL and SMIL are coming to stay with us for eight days, beginning this Friday. It was just supposed to by SMIL, and she was going to help me prep freezer meals for when I return to work, and just keep me company.
Now, FIL is coming, too. I do love him, but he's weird and annoying about breastfeeding. And I refuse to currb my maternity leave lifestyle to cater to his comfort. If he doesn't want to see me nurse my 6 week old baby, HE can leave the room.
And they always make me feel weird when I go to the gym. Like it inconveniences them or something.

Crap. I forgot about today's mismatched socks for DD2. H gets her dressed and to school but for some reason they only text the list to me.

Is it bad that I just completely stopped paying attention to this stuff at daycare? If the place is not closed or I don't need to turn in something important then I barely look at the monthly calendar. I did not even know it was Dr. Seuss week until yesterday at pick up when I noticed it on the board. Oh, Monday is crazy hair day? Great, my kids have wicked hat hair anyways so we participated in Monday. I have no idea what today's theme was and really do not intend to notice for the rest of the week. Thankfully DS1 doesn't seem to notice either. I know I will have to step up my game as he gets older, but right now I am relishing that he is oblivious.

pssst - Widget123, FFTC, I used to work 3 blocks from my apartment. I still drove 95% of the time. I felt like such a slug.
twinmomma, good luck with the work trip. I'm sure it'll go smoothly and all of your hard work in preparing for it will have been worth it! Also, kids in glasses are super cute.
I think I should probably spend at least a little effort each day this week prepping for our guests. The house is pretty much clean and in order, but there are a few isolated areas of clutter that drive me crazy... like the piles of paper work on the desk in the office (which is right off of our kitchen without a door), two last moving boxes full of shit that just sit on the floor in the dining room just begging to be dealt with.

I want my swing and baby bouncer back and I suspect that the 1YO whose mother I loaned it to no longer needs it but we don't talk regularly anymore (former nanny). How do I phrase that text? Should I offer to swing by and pick it up? I don't want her to freak out if she's already gifted it away but if she still has it, I want it back.
librarychica, don't over think it. Hi this is X. I hope you are doing well. I was wondering if you still have my old swing and bouncer? If so can we set up a time for me to drop by and pick it up? Please let me know. Thanks!

Not being able to pick up DS for 2 weeks sucks. Especially when it comes to going anywhere in the car. OTOH, not being able to lift him to the changing table is kind of awesome.
My Thursday second round interview was postponed because the date isn't working for the company. That's freaking me out. Plus my company is now cutting costs by 4% this year and possibly another 5% next year. So I feel even more pressure to get out of there.

White vinegar rinse.
I was about to say apple cider vinegar! Same concept. White vinegar stinks less.
Just signed up DD for a dance class - she starts Saturday, and H will get to take her to the first one since I have plans. I'm gonna be sad to miss it, and also sad that I know he won't find out about the unspoken rules of the place while he's there.
Tuesday Vent: DD woke up sick yesterday a 103 temp and cough. Ran to work and grabbed a file box of work which I actually got 90% of it accomplished as DD slept all day in my bed and then slept all night last night. Woke up fever free this morning but since she was still running it last night no school. I had to work in office this morning so DD is with and is better as chilling with books, coloring, sleeping isn't working. Heading to the post office and then home to try and work this afternoon and get her to nap.
PS I can't wait to see the chiro in 3 hours! I've needed him since Saturday.

Tuesday random- earlier DH informed me that he was softening butter to make grilled cheese and to do so he stuck the whole butter container in the microwave. He wasn't paying attention and didn't soften it, he melted it. When he was done he put it back in the fridge. Am I ridiculous for throwing it out? I can't see how melting cold butter and then putting it back in a fridge is safe for food.

I wouldn't worry about germs but I'd worry about the texture and consistency.

I agree, I think it's safe but the consistency would be weird. It used to be a no-no to refreeze stuff after it had been thawed, but new research says that is even safe to do.

Well shoot lol. I'll chalk it up to hormones. I told him 9+ months pregnant wasn't the time for me to be testing butters ability to be warmed and cooled multiple times.
erinshelley21, Yay you made it to March without having a baby! and yes microwave melted butter doesn't taste right after it has been refrigerated again. I know from personal experience. No one got sick though.
I found out Monday that one of my friends from high school had passed away. That makes two people from my graduating class of 81 people. We are still in our twenties so I am in shock a little bit.

I did a lot of 5k training on a treadmill. And then once I hit the actual road it was much harder. The elements are a bitch.
