Also, I hate my dogs. I never thought that would happen but they are giant pains in my ass now.
Oh honey, my dogs were my babies. I love them now. But when the babies were little, oh man. Holy shit. I wanted to open the door and let them run free.

@wineandcupcakes, things are going well! It's weird being back at work and doing the same things I did before babies. I feel like a totally different person now. This morning was a little hairy when the babies woke up an hour early and I had to get ready for work. Basically, I had to leave them crying while I did my hair and makeup. I guess it's just a reality that happens.
And YESSSSSSSSSSS to hating my dog. Just wait until he/she barks and wakes up a sleeping baby. You'll want to strangle. But then I feel bad because my dog was numero uno before babies arrived so I think the transition was hard on her.
Add me to the dog haters club. It's mostly just one: she rolls around in dead animals carcasses, she finds mud puddles to lay in, she pulls dirty towels out of the laundry to roll in... she's the most affectionate, loving dog and I feel guilty, but I told them to go play in traffic this morning

Lucy has actually done that once and never again. Her bark sent them both into terrified screams. She loves her babies and seems to understand that her barks can scare them. She'll grab a toy to muffle her bark if she really needs to bark inside these days.

Wow - that is really smart of your dog!! Unfortunately, mine is not that bright. She has an irrational fear of the mailman WHO ARRIVES DAILY. I think her barks have become more tempered, but she can't resist.

She still HAS to bark at EVERYTHING, so we've had our front blinds closed for 5 months. She just knows how loud she can get without scaring babies. And yes, anyone who comes to the door is thoroughly barked. Especially delivery drivers.
I'm a freaking veterinarian and I gave one of my dogs back to the rescue group we got him from because I couldn't handle him anymore. So +1 to all you guys struggling with dealing with obnoxious dogs- except you're better than me for continuing to deal with it. Granted, we never really liked him to begin with and kind of got suckered into adopting him. But still. He was ours for 2 years and I gave up on him. Good news is he seems to like his new family a heck of a lot and they let him do things we never would. Like sleep on the bed.
Also, does anyone here think I'll kill my in utero kids if I start treating a plantar wart on my toe with some Compound W? I'm normally very anti chemical but with the weight gain and change in balance, the dang thing hurts now when it never did before. I didn't even realize it was there- I can hardly see anything!
Some sort of cold hit me hard last night and today has been a huge struggle bus. The kids, of course, gave me no pity and made it "very hard for me to like them" today, or so I told MH. Ha. But seriously, give mommy a break, will ya? I leave for a trip Friday and I am hoping beyond hope that I'm feeling better.
Feel better soon!!
I had to parent while sick for the first time last week and it was so hard! Gone are the days of taking NyQuil and crawling into bed for a couple days.
@wineandcupcakes, the sad part is that she's 4 years old and thoroughly trained. I don't even have the puppy excuse. They both are so much better if I can run them, but I don't have the stamina or will these days. I called them the midwives with my first pregnancy, but they're always in the way and so clingy in addition to DD. I'm over it.
What can you take for a bad sore throat? There isn't anything specific for it on my list of approved meds from the OB.
DVMmomma, I would probably wait to treat the wart until after you're done birthing/nursing. DH was treating his warts when I was pregnant, and granted, his med from the derm was probably heavier-duty than compound w, but the derm warned him to not let it touch my skin since I was pregnant. It sucks that it's hurting you! I have one on each foot that I need to actually take care of now that I think about it.

Yessss. I couldn't find one dog outside for a bit today and didn't even care. I semi seriously tell DH I want to give them up energy day (I wouldn't, but I'm super serious in some moments). My poor dogs.
LydiaDeetz - YES YES YES. DH surprised me with a puppy two weeks before we found out I was pregnant (we didn't think this cycle would work because the others hadn't). She's so sweet but so untrained because I was so sick in early pregnancy and then too pregnant. She's going the bathroom all over the house, she also runs in animal carcasses, eats random animal poop from outside, pulls the clean (!!) laundry onto the ground (from the "clean laundry chair" we currently keep it on :-)) and is obsessed with the babies and just tries to lick them all the time and pull on their blankets.
My older guy, who is 9, just wants my attention so badly. I feel awful because it's always when I'm pumping or feeding a baby. Tonight I kicked him off a blanket I was napping on because I was in an uncomfortable position and couldn't move because of where we was siting and he just gave me the saddest eyes. My poor baby.
We got Lucy right after we found out how bad our infertility was. Because we were convinced that it was going to take a while. She was 6 months old when I got pregnant and had been through 2 puppy obedience courses at the time. We did a foundations type class once she hit a year, then nothing for about 6 months. She REALLY needed this class we just did even though it was stressful for us to get everyone fed and comfortable enough for me to leave with her once a week. We got an aussie, knowing how much work she was going to be. She NEEDS a job, and this class really did that for her.
She only recently got free reign of the house (except for our "storage" rooms, the guest room, laundry, nursery, and our bedroom) and still has accidents on occasion. One of her favorite games right now is to grab something baby (toy, burp rag, clothes) and show us, then either run to the door (let me out!) or run around the house. It drives me batty, but has definitely made us be more aware of where we're leaving things.
I got 2 hrs of sleep last night and woke up early. I have been counting down until naptime since before the kids even got up, I am so so tired. Dizzy, sick and tired. I wish these two liked tv!

schmella , there have been a couple of days that I would have died if mine didn't love her some Bubble Guppies. She doesn't get much TV but damn is it nice when we do stop for a cartoon. I hope they at leave give you long naps today!
Mine also love TV. We watched the shit out of the Olympics when they were 2 months old. They liked all the bright colors.
Now when we turn on Thomas the Train, they hear the intro music and whip their heads around in unison to see. It's hilarious. They don't really stay engaged for long and end up playing with toys and ignoring the TV in the background.
So I'm 4.5 weeks post c section and my body is so sore. I'm not in any pain, just total body soreness. Normal? Or am I broken? (I don't have an OB appt until 3/13).

callmeKD, I had body soreness, but I assumed that it had to do with all of the odd motions I was doing (lifting babies out of RnPs, couch sleeping, general exhaustion etc.) It eventually went away. But definitely if it's really bothersome, you should mention it.
Ok, another dog saga: the dogs go out this morning and I'm petting the older guy and feel something between my fingernail. An effing deer tick! He must have just picked it up. I forgot to give flea tick and heartworm so I run around and give it. @dvmmamma - they are on the topical Spectra 3D. Frontline stopped working around here and we got fleas a few years ago. The Spectra repels ticks as well which I love. That being said, I hate the topical chemicals and the dogs smell and have a wet looking mark for like a week after administration. I'm afraid for when the babies can start touching the dogs and then touching their mouths as I know the meds are neurotoxins.
What does everyone do for flea/tick? We have Lyme around here and lots of ticks so doing nothing isn't an option. We need something that works well..I heard about oral flea/tick but read they aren't effective. What do you all do?
I'm also interested in an answer to this. I haven't given flea medicine in months for any of our animals and am not fond of the liquid, but will definitely be giving it with heartworm meds this month.
We are using k9 Adventix on our border collies. I kennel them for the day that I put it on and then it's soaked in enough for them to roam again in the house.
I got an hour nap in and my sister called on her way home from a work trip- she said I sounded like crap and could she please come entertain her niece and nephew for a bit- I seriously do not know what I would do without family. My great aunt died last night. We weren't close but she was our last real tie to our family in the old country- I'm so sad we didn't get to take the kiddos to meet her, she was a truly wonderful person. My passport is expired and there's no way I'd get it and the kids' together in time for the funeral but man I wish we could
