It's 75 degrees here. My mom came yesterday & today so I'm waiting for LO to finish eating and then we're going to get some Mexican for lunch and then go for a nice walk. Loving these warm days.

We're also dealing with a ton of spit up here. It looks less like spit up and more like projectile vomiting :/ Honestly it's super frustrating. I feel like half of what she eats gets wasted, and it triples the amount of changing and laundry that we have to do. The pedi was unconcerned last week but I'll be bringing it up again this week.

loves2shop4shoes, pretty sure most medical professionals follow the rule of once birth weight is reached you can stop waking them. I've dealt with babies weight issues a lot because I have larger than average babies. Their weight usually drops very fast and a lot. 10% of your weight when you weigh 10-11lbs is a lot and it's hard to gain back since they tend to be lazy nursers. Also they are known to have wider fluctuation in blood sugar so I had to wake them all very regularly until they were birth weight. DS was the only one where the midwife cleared me to let him sleep when he was 4oz shy of birth weight, but at that point he was waking on his own 2hrs during the day and no longer than 4 at night. I still get nervous at night if he goes longer than that. I wake him to feed before I go to sleep just in case since his first stretch is often the longest. Do what makes you feel comfortable.
monicageller, my breasts did not get that full feeling until maybe a week out. Then all the time, and now unless he goes two 4 hour stretches back to back between feeds it can be hard to tell when I'm trying to remember his last boob in the middle of the night. Go with the wet diaper count, that's your best indicator by far. Can you feel your let downs? I can, but I know some women can't.
So DH was called last night, super late about his deployment briefing being this morning instead of later this week. WTF. Spouses are invited so they can go over the supports available, but then give me 7 hours overnight to find a sitter for 2 kids? Makes no sense when you're trying to be family friendly about it. So he's there taking notes and I'm here with all 3. Luckily DS didn't sleep terribly.
He did his first stretch in the bassinet, then he was gassy and did not want to sleep unless he was laying up against my face. No joke. He was so upset I tried everything, then in desperation for quiet I lay him down on his back, rubbed his belly and lay my face close beside him and hummed and he stopped. If I lifted my head, he cried. I need a shower because my hair is super sweaty now, but we slept.

flyinghorses6littleredfish I do feel let down, but not as strong or as long as I was. Baby does seem satisfied, he stops active sucking and I never remove him from the breast if he doesn't seem to have stopped. But now I'm paranoid and anytime he is fussy I'm convinced he must not be getting enough.
It's just different than it was with DS1. I always had hard, stripper boobs and he spent more time at the breast. So im worried that he isn't spending as much time because there isn't much there. I need to focus on the diapers and just continue to nurse often. BF is such a mind fuck.

it totally is. Somebody needs to invent a way to measure BM intake. I'd buy that. I saw a LC once for DD2 because of very similar reasons you mentioned. I was comparing her to her sister who would nurse for up to 45mins at a time and she was on and off in under 10. She told me there was no issues, DD2 was likely just a more "efficient nurser". DH joked she'd be a champion at shotgunning a beer in college.

shawnabm1320, is it wrong that I'm secretly happy that you are still pregnant? Because I am too. I woke up this morning to news that a local friend who wasn't technically due yet had her baby last night. Gah.

To everyone questioning sleep. Sleep begets sleep. At this point in baby's life everything is kinda a hot mess day and night, but more sleep = more sleep. Even my 2.25 year old toddler sleeps longer at night when he's had a better nap during the day. DON'T try and keep a cranky baby awake during the day in hopes that they will sleep longer overnight. It doesn't work that way!

AWing for a minute. I just went to multiple stores with both boys and we had no meltdowns.
In regards to spit up, DS1 would spit up so much we would burp him over the bath tub, it mellowed at about 4-5 months. This baby also spits up a lot but it isn't every feed. the pedi told us not to worry as long as it seemed like he was still gaining/not in pain. So, we just let him be. He was and still is on target for growth per his percentiles.
Per our pediatrician We had to wake ours for the first 4 weeks to eat. But they are also premies who weighed less than 5 lbs at birth. As of today, we can start letting them sleep and wake on their own
We had our first pedi appointment this morning and little girl lost sooo much weight :/ over 10% apparently. It was like this with #1 because my boobs just would not produce no matter what I did. Unashamedly going to formula to help my tiny little baby. She just does not GAF about eating so we will have to step it up a notch now.
We were told to wake her every 2 hours and we are doing a weight check on Thursday to see how things go. The waking up every 2 hours is hell.

loves2shop4shoes yes, the pedi probably has you waking baby up because of the weight issues. DD had them and I had to wake her every 2 hours day and night to feed at first.
Finally got Lil G to take an effing nap today. Had to strip him down to diaper and take my shirt off to get him to actually stop crying and relax. But we both got a 3hr nap so he obviously needed it(momma did too!). He's now camped out nursing. Let's see if that makes him a happier baby this afternoon.

@jacks605, that sounds like my DS. Everyone was always talking about waking their sleepy children during the day and I was like "wait, yours actually nap?" My sympathies to you!

DS1 is such a wild man and a huge eater. If this one is my "shot gunner" and a better eater- than I quit. The two of them will do me in!😜

wildflower810, I'm so happy to see you! I was starting to think you had left me I really do hope we deliver the same day - until then, misery loves company!

It's not a baby, but look what I made! They're supposed to be just like zutano booties. I've never had zutano booties for my kids, so I have no idea, but they're cute and didn't cost $20

I totally feel all of you on the BF. I had a wonderful visit with the LC then to come home and not have much success. He was down 7 oz from birth and we are supplementing with formula until our next LC appt. on Thursday. Waking up every 3 hours is brutal, I just couldn't do it last night and let him sleep 5 while I was sick as a dog. This recovery process is no joke.

I got both the babes to nap at the same time again. My toddler needed it in the worst way! She was such a grump all morning. Hoping she wakes up in a better mood.

DS won't let me put him down so I tried the wrap again. Plus side, my back and hips feel better so I've been wearing him for about an hour with no major pain. Down side, my boobs are going nuts with him being so snuggly and I keep having let downs every 20 mins or so. Both boobs are probably going to be rock solid by the time he wants to actually eat again.
