We haven't gotten much done at all yet. I know I want to do gray walls with white furniture and pink accents. Today mh put samples of two different gray paints on the wall but neither is quite right, so that's annoying. That's all we've done. In the end I'm envisioning something like this:

cali My daughters room is pink, white, and gray so I obviously love that color scheme! It'll last a long time and will update well as she gets older. Gray is sooooo hard!! We painted our last house gray and I think we went through at least 20 paint samples before getting the right one.

Hahaha, MH is about ready to kill me because I keep making him get new samples to try on the wall. We painted our master bedroom gray a couple years ago and I chose the color just from the sample card without trying it on the wall and now on the wall it just looks white and I hate it. I definitely will not make that mistake again.
I think it's the year of the nautical designs! I love them all!
We are doing a nautical theme for our little guy. Our first had a cowboy theme!
We decided to set the nursery in our spare room off of our master. It's a decent size. This way we can keep our 3 guest rooms and hunters room. Plus I won't have to walk around to get the baby in the middle of the night, just walk through my bedroom to the other room. Oh and the room is already blue! So that saves painting! We will eventually move the baby over to his own room and move Hunter to the room next to it that way they both get "new" rooms.

I love those choices cwbh928 ! I'm trying to go for pirate theme, but I keep leaning towards nautical instead. I have to remind myself, "Pirate theme, pirate theme!" when I'm looking at decor pieces!
I need opinions from y'all. Since we are using our office as the nursery, it doesn't have a closet and I'll be using an armoire for his hanging clothes. I picked up the pictured armoire off craigslist and I want to refinish it but I'm not sure what color to do. His crib is an espresso color and I'm planning on refinishing the dresser like the pic with the octopus (the dresser is very similar in shape/style). The colors we're using are navy, gray, white, and aqua like in the quilt I made him shown in one of the above posts. I'm thinking I can do it somewhat rustic/washed out, not just a solid color. It's going next to a window where the curtains are the aqua color, so I think either navy, gray or white would be best. What would y'all do?
mrshall1027, nice pickup off Craigslist for that armoire! I personally would like the washed out rustic look in white and think it would compliment the aqua curtains nicely!

I agree with whitewashing the armoire. Also, it's a nice find and I'm sure it provides tons of storage.

Armoire looks so cool! I agree whitewashing would look great. I'm biased bc I did cherry furniture in DS1's nursery, and I've had white furniture envy since then.
A friend asked me if I had a theme going on and I just said I like stars and moons and lions if she's on time she'll be a Leo but not bank too hard on it and go lion crazy. That same person sent me a text message like I just went and got you tons of Lion King decals for the baby room and Simba and Nala stuffed animals for the baby, and I'm just sitting here like what the fuck I don't equate being into like Leo astrology to being something massive lion King fan why would anyone do this and then tell me about it??
I totally hear ya. Personally when I think of Leo or even lions, the lion king isn't my first thought. I guess people assume baby with Disney. We sort of went through that with my first and the cowboy theme. Someone got us a bunch of Woody (toy story) stuff and sheriff cali (they aren't even the same Disney theme)!! . I was like huh.. luckily, this person was out of state so I was able to only put the stuff in the baby room when they came around, otherwise it was sir in the closet.

That's annoying. I'm sure it was well intentioned, but it's probably items you won't use much.
People have asked me about themes and I've avoided answering the question. I don't want them to confuse underwater with mermaids and whales. There's nothing wrong with those themes, it's just not what I have in mind.
At least people are asking you about your theme. Someone got us some stuff and just bought random green things. I now have scary looking llamas that do not match my cute little Peter Rabbit/garden theme.
I've had people ask me about a theme and I just laugh and say remember how my wedding theme was get married? This one is have a baby.... then I said I think some colors will be grey, teal green, and blue. 🤷🏻♀️ Like I don't need everything to match if you want to get the baby something! Just do whatever you want, people! I'll be thankful for whatever it is / hide it and bring out as needed 😂
I've been stalking this thread hoping for inspiration. I just can't decide. I know I don't want to do pink, at least not overwhelmingly. Purple maybe? No grey, because we plan on doing a lot of grey downstairs. So purple and what? I see a lot of purple and green together but DS's room will be green, so no go. Ughhhhh I wish I could just hire someone to design my whole house color scheme for me
Baby boy's crib came yesterday! Hoping we can make it to Home Depot this weekend to pick out a paint color for baby girl's crib. And we're hoping to stain a dresser - wish us luck!
muscari If you google crochet jellyfish pattern, you'll come up on the website 1 Dog Woof. She provides instructions there.
Found it! Hah, to funny, there's even Dutch instructions provided *g*
eta Just send a piccie and link to my aunt who is working on a crochet baby blanket.. with a hint *laughs*
I forgot to update but my aunt loved the jellyfish I linked her to, and she took a stab at them the same day. So cute! Will have to post a piccie She also promised a pic of her work-in-progress on the baby blanket, will try post a pic of that as well once I get it! Finally starting to get enthusiastic about nursery stuff here.
mrshall1027, wow, your quilt is beautiful! Love it, well done :-) My mum used to make quilts (she can sew, knit, crochet, everything really) and I've always wanted to give it a try myself but most attempts at being creative with needle and thread of whichever kind fail for me...
mrshall1027, love that armoire!! Did you decide on what color to paint it yet? I myself love natural woods so I would prolly just sand and restain.. though I bet it looks awesome in a lighter color too. It's so pretty!
@xamountofwords, ahh sorry you ended up with a bunch of stuff for the nursery that doesn't at all fit what you have in mind.
elliecat17, I know I shouldn't but your comment on the scary llamas just made me giggle.
@xamountofwords,elliecat17, and whoever else in a similar situation, I'm with addymac; just store and pull out whenever you have to?
happyfeet9, I love how the colors fade into eachother on the aqua blanket - very fitting the 'underwater theme' indeed!
jessa1228 I like the suggestion of the purple and turqoise on white

Yay! You'll have to post pics once you're done (or before, progress and after ones, I always love seeing the changes!)

That's awesome! I ordered some on Etsy because my mom hasn't even started on the twins blankets :/
We finally decided on a space theme. I'm thinking of painting the room gray. We are doing blue and gray but so many of our rooms our blue so I want to do his room gray.
I love looking at what everyone is doing!
I still need to finish cleaning out the room. My parents bought our crib so it's sitting in the box in the room but I have to clean out two dressers and get rid of the bed in there.
One of the teachers at work wants to make me a crib quilt for the room and I'm so excited about it. My husband collects quilts and will love it.
addymac I love it!!! That scuba green is really close in color to the PB Kids curtains that I just bought. We also have silvery grey color walls in our room and I think those two colors together will look really nice. If it will help, I can try to take a pic of them together.
addymac, I'm also eying that dresser it's on sale right now! Have you seen it in person? I'm wondering if it's more brown than gray, it's so hard to tell in the pics! I love the dresser though for the price. We have it in white for my other girl 😊
jt2378, I've seen that dresser in person and it's definitely not more brown than gray to me. It's gray with a brown undertone. Hope that helps.
I love that color scheme, addymac! Will the accent wall be where you are placing the crib?
So much stress was relieved this weekend for me! We got all the main pieces placed in the nursery, but in order to do so, we had to clean out the office and before we could do that, we had to organize some closets and drawers to have room for all the stuff that we took out of there. But, we got it all done (for the most part), and now I just need to pick out the paint for the dresser and armoire I'm refinishing. I'll have to post before and afters once they are done. Wish me luck that they turn out nice/as planned!
addymac, what brand of paint is that?? I'm looking for a grey color like that and having a hard time finding the right shade!
It's Benjamin Moore! We spent hours obsessing and even went to a JC Licht store to meet with one of their design consultants they have for free to figure out what shade we wanted- a cool gray vs a warm gray, etc. if you can, you should try them out- they're all over the Chicagoland area!

I think it's pretty true to the picture and I love that even though it's a different collection, it matches the crib color. I was so torn on white vs black, so this made it easy for me.
You could always buy it, open the box, and decide before building it if you like it enough? Idk about ikeas return policy- we have two within driving distance so I just spent hours obsessively staring at the furniture haha

Yay for getting so much done this weekend!
Yeah, I think that wall is where the crib will go but we will decide for sure once we get into the new place and see how I like the set up the best. I'm getting so impatient to move! Three weeks!
